Depends how you view that one, it was a tricky kick just out of comfortable reach which if he had come out and missed could well have been a goal, as it was he stayed on his line and was well placed to picked it up.

Goalkeeping is about making judgements like this, you could say it was luck but in any event he got it right.

He was getting some stick from a few on the Ealing which I found hard to understand to be honest. A couple of off key kicks does not make a bad game, his handing was pretty safe to me.

Giving him abuse as he is about to take a kick seems pretty stupid thing to do IMHO.

Simon Brown is ok as a shot-stopper but not much else (can't come off his line for toffee, even when Heywood's yelling at him to come and collect), Masters is still too inexperienced, I still think we should have kept Nathan Abbey.

I think they're more likely to get a 4th game added to the ban for a frivolous appeal - he clearly threw his arm back at the defender, not as a way of getting extra height in his jump. Same applies to Chelsea appealing against Essien's red at Derby

with Abbey second post-Nelson. I said at the time that we dropped Abbey far too early, before we'd even had a chance to scout someone else. I thought it was a bit of a disrespect to the service he'd put in as he personally saved a few more 4-0 spankings last season.

I thought his best one on Saturday was when he flapped a punch at a ball that he'd jumped for and was comfortably chest height ripe for catching.

For me, has come to be on a par with Paddy Roche as the worst experienced keeper we've had (leaving aside Bill Glazier's short disastrous stay) - we've had kids who've been worse, but for me he is now significantly worse than Nelson or Dearden. For his first few games, I couldn't make up my mind as he seemed average every time, but he's now having more bad than good, and the last 2 home matches he's been awful

As a young kid I used to stand against the railings at the Royal Oak end for reserve games and Fred would always have a chat during the game...and if you had a bag of sweets you could bet he would want one (or three !)..nice bloke - big sod - you would certainly know it if he ran into you !!

Reserve to Gerry Cakebread for ages but had a decent run in the first team and did ok....

Don't get me started on Simon Clown or I will go on forever....I would rather see Seb Brown than that overpaid mate of Butcher's.

Nelson wasn't a great shot stopper even though some people say he was.

Nelson was actually quite good on crosses tho.

Browns distrbution is better imo.

Nelson made kamikazee mistakes for no reason as well.
