I really hope we can sign Hamer on a longer loan. Masters has the ability but not the consistency yet. He has the potential and maybe needs to be told that if he can get to Hamer's level in a couple of years time he can maybe make it into a Championship/Premiership club. Wasn't he MOTM when we were trounced 4-0 at home to Doncaster last season?

He had a difficult act to follow today after what Ben Hamer has done for us.

I wasnt at Swindon but there were a few people on here who suggested that he wasn't faultless.

Fair play to him today because he did a bloody good job. He looked assured and on three occasions in the first half he saved from one-on-one situations when he perhaps should have been beaten.

He did the supposed simple stuff well also. Overall he was on a loser today because we know that Hamer has been exceptional on the whole but he did his stuff well.

I'm glad for him, TB (who laid out the money for him and then saw a young lad come in and make selection difficult having shelled out the money for Brown already) and also for Hamer who, during the afternoon, gave the impression he was part of the squad and didnt sulk off because he hadnt been selected :sorted:

At the moment we have 2 very useful keepers and for that we should be grateful

anyone one of the "loyal" Bees fans chanting for Hamer (after 3 minutes) care to step forward ?

stupid, ignorant and idiotic, IMHO.....what possible effect are these fans (admitedly we are talking 5 or 6 "loyal" fans) hoping to achieve by undermining our selected keeper !

Once he is on the pitch, get behind him..dont start chanting Hamer's name.

He did his job today...

exactly what I heard.....:sorted:

a disgrace...I'll contend any Bees fan chanting "Hamer for England", after 3 or 4 mins, at Simon Brown is not "loyal" but a kneejerk-reacting, bandwagon-jumping monkey

What's Brown supposed to think about Bees fans, when hearing this ?

Before game i didint think anything of Brown and preferd Hamer same as a lot of peopole

Being serious though, I doubt if those chanting for Hamer realised how it would have come accross to Simon Brown, but he certainly didn't let it bother him. Quality performance from the big man. :sorted:

Missing his punch from the corner in the dying moments against Lincoln could have cost us dear, but still the record books show Brentford nil - so good luck to the bloke.

there are quite a few on the GPG who have stated that they're not happy with Brown from the time he first signed. So they've said their piece already. why bring it up again? maybe you have reservations too and have just announced them to us........................

Brown needs to work on his kicking under pressure, and also when not under it. He also needs to come out quicker to get the ball when our defenders are struggling to hold off an attacker. This may be down to communication at the back or the goal line being made out of glue. Otherwise I'd call him solid. He misses a few, he saves a few, what more do you want at L2 level? Nothing special and refusing to call him Simon Clown just yet.

Maybe brown was upset he doesn't have anything like a six pack himself? Aside from the six pack of beer judging by his portly stomach :rolleyes:


He looked dodgy at the start of the game yesterday but thankfully put it behind him and had a decent enough game although was rarely troubled

Not proven one way or the other in the games so far, as few of the goals conceded have been down to him, but he has made few great saves either, nor has he been tested much in the air.

On Saturday, his kicking was erratic and he failed to come for a first half free kick into the 6 yd box, which could have cost us a goal, but he didn't do much wrong otherwise - but only had perhaps 2 saves and a couple of catches to make against a poor Lincoln team

In the Lincolnshire echo this morning they had the following to say on Brown

You're not very good : Simon Brown : How did Lincoln not score past this clown ? In his one appearance for the Imps,at Peterborough 10 years ago,he conceded five and it doesn't look as if he has improved since.Almost gifted the visitors the lead within 10 seconds when he fired a clearance straight at Louis Dodds.His kicking continued to be dodgy and his handling wasn't much better.He was a bit of a butter-fingers

It's easy to read things the way you want. For example, I don't think their report was suggesting they were robbed. To quote from it...

"It was no more than the battling Bees deserved for their domination of a game which had looked like drifting towards a goalless draw.

Brentford played all the football..."

Doesn't sound to me like the paper was biased. The only claim that the Imps deserved anything came from a quote by the caretaker manager, and I wouldn't expect him to say different.

I think Brown must have lead in his boots...he rarely comes off his line and does not command his six yard box..which results in defenders having to belt into row Z to clear.How many teams have scored against us this season with balls to the far post where he just stands rooted to his line.

As has been previously said he is just an average Div 2 keeper...as an ex defender myself I would not like playing in front of him !! :(

It doesn't look good.

Played well at Chester but Hamer seemed a much better option, sadly as with Mackie and Heywood we found out who was better a bit too late.
