He'd be crazy to go to Everton now.
Stay up, and he's done the expected, and will be binned off next season at the first opportunity a la Lampard at Chelsea. Even worse, gets relagated and his managerial stock plummets.
The next few months at Derby are a free hit. Keep them up, he's a hero. Relegation for them "atleast he stayed and tried. Gave it a decent go" etc etc

Getting increasingly irked with the BBC Sports website carrying what seems to be an almost weekly 'news item' now, which is basically a vehicle for them to publicise Wayne Rooney's new 'show'/podcast (or whatever it's called). This week's effort - Rooney's views on Man U.

For starters, the bloke isn't qualified to comment with much authority given his track record of being in charge of anything.
Secondly, for those that think his opinion is worth listening to, here is what I have pulled directly from the BBC of Rooney's expert analysis of the situation:

"...some current players 'don't deserve to wear the shirt', the side 'needs a new engine' and supporters are 'waiting for the club to crumble.'

"I am not seeing anything which is giving me any confidence, there needs to be big changes in my opinion," said the former England striker, who won five league titles during 13 years at Old Trafford.

"Manager, players, whatever that is. Whatever it takes to get Manchester United back."

So there we have it. And those were the 'highlights' of what he had to say. They might as well ask Mark Goldbridge or quote a bloke off 606. Or anyone else from the stadium. His comments are no more insightful than their views. Pathetic - bloke is stealing a living further, now he can't cut it as a coach.

I assume this is the BBC trying to push something new since Lineker left and took his podcast with him.

I had the misfortune to listen to about 15 mins of Rooney’s podcast when 5 Sports Extra decided to play it at half time of the Forest v Sunderland game.

It’s sort of interesting as an insight into the mindset and superstitions of a previous generation of player. Unsurprisingly he has little to no insight about what coaching or the modern game involves for those who don’t have his level of underlying instinct and ability. After a long ramble about which grounds he hated playing at (as an Everton fan obviously Liverpool and Goodison after he moved to Man U) he couldn’t get his head around why Ferguson rested him for a cup SF v Everton.

I’d probably try to get any club owner who gave him another coaching job to be sectioned. Almost everyone on the GPG is more coherent and capable of understanding the game from any perspective beyond actually playing it themselves than Rooney.

Ha, it's almost daily and yes, rather irksome (although, of course, very ignorable)

Only thing i would counter with is sometimes those with good experience and knowledge of the game can still be good "talkers" regardless of failures as Managers/Head Coaches. Gary N springs to mind. Rooney may have the insight etc, but i suspect his use of the English language isnt the best, and he comes across as a tad nervous

I would also add that there will be a lot more detail and personal skills that goes into managing that some of these high level ex pros just wont be able to master whilst the less skillful of the playing past Mourinho etc will flourish.
