What's The Problem?

Now this is not a thread calling for Leroy out or anything like that I think he has been unlucky with some games and some other things e.g. having two useless players in Fitz and Willock on high wages on the bill and also Owusu on a massive wage and he's been injured the whole year.

However there is clearly a big problem. I think one of them is the defence as it is going to be very rare that we keep clean sheets, and who honestly doesn't think we are capable of conceeding at any time. Now I'm not going to single any players out here, however I do think a big problem is Heywood and Griffiths playing together. These two are not an effective partnership there is no pace and there styles are too similar that they do not work together, something has to be done about this. If we can't afford to sign anyone then Osborne needs to be given his chance.

Another problem seems to be upfront where only Jo seems like scoring and he's been unlucky not to have more then the 6 or 7 he has got so far. Now obviously no one else is going to come in now but maybe its time we tried a different tactic, maybe its time we got more aggressive or dare I say it play more negative/hoof ball football. However awful it is to watch at the moment we need to get some points on the board and confidence.

If we don't sort this out soon were in danger of not sorting it out before its too late, and if we do go down again this time, it's not going to be easy to get back up.

What's The Problem?

We played well against Yeovil and Bristol City and got nothing. I think we're very blunt up front and that's the main problem. We need to work opposing defences a lot harder and until Lloydy gets back, I'm not sure how we can do this.

What's The Problem?

sounds like 'team spirit' and togetherness isn't there at present, especially after hearing Heywood, Griffiths and Oli running off at the end without acknowledging the supporters who made the effort to support them. O'Connor should've gone in the changing rooms and dragged them back out.
Is it LR or PM? I don' think its either. I think its the players and they're the only people who can change it.

What's The Problem?

Still no win in sight, perhaps West Wilts was right after all! :fishing:

Now only one point from bottom 3 place. If you don't score goals you get relegated..it doesn't matter how well you play and today we didn't!!

Sorry LR you got to get some points on the board and fast

What's The Problem?

The one thing I didn't expect under Leroy was a complete lack of goals. I thought with a former striker in charge, there might be a few 3-3s, but we're not even creating chances.

Kuffour has clearly done his back in and needs subbing every game, no other striker looks like scoring. How can we have so many strikers on the books and not have a clue after 13 games of what our best combination is?

We desperately need to win a league game (though a win on Tuesday would be good for confidence). I really want Leroy to be a success, and I love the idea of Brentford playing attractive football, but I am worried about how things are going. The worse a run gets, the harder it is to get out of it.

And agree about the players acknowledging the fans. Someone should have a word about that (either Leroy with the players or Greg Dyke with Leroy) - Rotherham's a long way to go to watch one soft shot on target in 90 minutes.

What's The Problem?

What the problem?

There is no problem, we're just not good enough thats all. We leak goals we can't score goals what's that a recipe for? I better not say to much because folk on here will start saying that i'm glad we're losing games. I'm sorry to say I forecast this from the start, signing Heywood (on a large wage may I add) has not done my confidence any good at all. Like the rest of you I will keep supporting the team that I love. I might be blunt but at least I support the team, I also stay for the whole ninety mins. It is still early days and I hope we turn around pretty quick. Unfortuantly so far I don't think so.

Chris how many times have we seen these situations before? The writing was on the wall after we lost our best players. Not leroys fault at all, BUT you need to keep some quality. I get sick of being told we have no money. We might just as well sell up and call it a day. The cold weather will be upon us soon, the fairweather fans will not be parting with their hard earnt to watch a losing team. But hey what do I know. Cue the abuse.

What's The Problem?

You wont get any abuse from me Pete. Been down this road too many times before and I'm already praying for miracles...3 points will do for starters!!

What's The Problem?

all about getting that win, and ending all this 'x' without a win. Gillingham is absolutely massive, because with Forest and Oldham the next two away games, we could be bottom and ripe for a F.A Cup 1st round exit to Bobs Car Parts F.C or someone similar !

What's The Problem?

I really expected a recovery today with our best 11 starting.

As has already been said above, we appear to be completely toothless up front and that is the main problem. How we solve it I've no idea, but we've consistently had less shots on goal than any other team in our division and that is a real worry...

What's The Problem?

I can see us losing lots of these types of away games this season and all Im praying for is to stay up.

What's The Problem?

I think we lack a strong midfield player and by that I mean someone who will get stuck in when needed. We've got some decent footballers in Skulason & Pinault but don't have a ball winner fo these players to feed from. Without some grit and determination in the team we are looking decidedly dodgy.

We've got to take the pressure off Jo and get some goals from midfield. let's face it Willock, Wijnhard and Moore are not going to generate anything for now but I wold have thought Oli, Brooker and Pinault (and Peters if he gets some on pitch time) could contribute some shots on target. I'm not as concerned defensively. There have been some good goals scored against us and when I've seen us play the backline have looked strong enough, they are a second priority.

What's The Problem?

Pretty simple - good players win matches and get into the habit of winning.

We no longer have most of our good players and have forgotten what itfeels like to win.

Subtracting

Tabb
Turner
Sodje
DJ
Owusu (pro tem)
Rankin
Pratley

and replacing them with

Griffiths
Heywood
Pinault
Moore
Kuffour
CW
Tomlin
(Pillock)

is a recipe for disaster.

What's The Problem?

west wilts bee... your not alone in your predication...pre-season post say it all.... you are right, its no ones fault.....apart from (noade$) that is.... fingers crossed for the 51pts we need ..:sorted:

What's The Problem?

The fish always rots from the head, and this case the head is our manager.

Yet again after the debacle at Chesterfield with no acknowledgement from LR, he does the same today at the end of the game. He has a complete and utter lack of respect for the supporters, let's get rid now before it is too late.

You can not carry on blaming MA's signings, some of LR's are no better or in some cases worse

talk like this is pointless until you find me a manager that would be willing to come into our predicament, and on the wages offered and be able to do anything about it. When you do, I shall listen.

I appreciate the financial issues, but coutesy towards the fans costs nothing. The total lack of respect shown by LR and the players towards the fans today is unacceptable. Until LR starts to show some leadership, I maintain my stance of LR out!

Doesn't help when Coco the clown's in goal!

Leroy won't be going anywhere. If we drop, Leroy will drop with us. I admit I think he was the wrong choice. But now he's here he gets my support. and we cannot afford to sack him, that is why I was against his appointment if you can understand my comment, for fear of exactly what is happening.

What's The Problem?

clown... who you calling a clown... is it his big feet or red nose, that gives it away

What's The Problem?

I'm not going to get to despondant about losing a tough away game to Rotherham. The signs are worrying but it's our home form that needs an upturn. A decent record at home plus the odd away victory will see us fine so we've got to stop dropping points at GP.

Gillingahm is a must win. Even an optimist like me will admit that.

:imwith: agree 100%

What's The Problem?

It's all very well blaming Leroy, but would a different manager have assembled a significantly stronger squad, given the constraints? I'm not convinced. Would a different manager have got a similar strength squad to perform any better? Again, I'm not convinced.

Last week we were the better side in a game against a team right at the top of the table, so I think it's far too early to press the panic button. We need to keep our nerve and hope that Leroy keeps his - not scream for impossible changes.

What's The Problem?

I normally agree with most of what North London Bee says, but I think his blanket assessment of the ins and outs was from the heart rather than the head.
We need a b****** in the middle of midfield and another up front to take the weight off Kuffour - for starters.
That's the cue for MarkBFC to step in and remind everyone in his usual patronising tone that we haven't got any money.
So the solution is....going to be hard to find.

what about Chesterfield? Surely we should be getting something out of both of these games? we are losing to teams who most people would probably have near the bottom of the table.

How do you compare Bristol city and Forest to these two teams?

why, we are a bottom half team this season, and generally the idea is to beat the teams around you at home, I for one would expect to beat both of these at home, and the team that stays up will be the one who can sneak an unexpected win away from home.

I don't think this thread is about calling for LR's head Ed. I think we all realise, like it or not, that he's here for the forseeable!!

What is being pointed out is that if we don't get our act together soon it will be a hard hard slog to avoid the drop.

On the playing front it's pretty obvious that we are not getting results (even when we've played reasonably well) and 9 games since a win tells its own story. We are just 1 point off the bottom (ignoring our hosts today!) and its not good enough. :nono:

I think your first sentence sums it up perfectly.

sh*t happens.

What's The Problem?

Just a thought Danny Kedwell has 11 goals so far.He is a big centre forward.

I agree that it would be hard to assemble a stronger squad given the financial constraints. But maybe a different manager could get the same group of players to achieve better results.

My key issue is with Leroy's leadership or lack of it, he must work on maintaining the support of the fans, leading by example and insisting that his players follow suit.

What's The Problem?

Plenty of managers could do better than Leroy with that squad of players or even the budget Leroy has been given have brought in better players.

Chesterfield and Rotherham are both above us in terms of points gained and would be confortably placed in mid-table. Rotherham were able to sign far better players than we could afford and were a Championship side not long ago. Chesterfield has always been a tough game. We have no right to expect this side to beat them away but it is crucial we beat them at home.

We should look to get a minimum of 14 wins at home and say 5 wins away. Add a few points here and there for draws and we end up at around 60 points and comfortably mid table. In my my mind we have had two "disasters" this season; not beating Orient who will be the divisions whipping boys and failing to beat a poor Bournemouth side. They're the type of games we need to win, and if we had we'd be mid table now and probably looking upwards instead of down.

What ever Leroy's perceived faults might be, I'd back his judgement on a forward over any fan.

14 wins a Home! Minimum! Are you insane

Exactly my point, but your not dispondant by losing at Rotherham?!?!?

if we cant beat either of Chesterfield or Rovram who IMHO are likely to be near the bottom come the end of theseason we don't have a chance whatsoever.

What's The Problem?

Ok, perhaps that's a little, er, ambitious, but we have to get between 10 and 14 home wins, as I don't think we are going to get much away from home this season. I think that we are capbale of beating all but a small handful of teams at home, so I don't think that's beyond us.

Rotherham had already gained more points than us prior to today so losing there's not a shock. They will finish mid-table comfortably despite the loss of 10 points.

What's The Problem?

rotherham have no money thats why they started the season on -10 points gillingham have bigger depts than us even if we ended up in the conference we will still have no money nothing is going to change not as things stand

Why do you think we're better than either of these teams? Just looked at Soccerbase and found out that we haven't beaten Rotherham since 1999 and that's because most of the time they've been in a higher division. As for Chesterfield, we share the results. We're historically no better than these sides and in Rotherham's case, they have been signifcantly better than us for some while.

Agree - first few games of the season, with our strongest side, I thought we looked more than a match for anyone in this division.
We need to get a win and break this bad patch, then grind out the necessary number of points any way we can.

It's gonna be tough but, with a bit of luck, I think we can do it...

Sorry mate, just by my calculations you play 23 at home, if you gonna win 14 you can only afford to not win 9. So put Swansea, Huddersfield, Yeovil, Bristol City and Bournemouth on your list already and seems unlikely we gonna win all games bar four until the end of the season.

We might be 'capable' but our home win record is 2 out of 7!

a) we could have easily have won today, two great chances in Brooker and Oli wasted. Only lost due to Nelson thinking he is gods gift and doesnt need anyone on the post and a a silly peno given away.

b) how many times have chesterfield finished above us or reached the play offs?

What's The Problem?

Sorry, but if the coaching instruction is to not have anyone on a post, how is that Nelson's fault?

What's The Problem?

Sorry, but if the coaching instruction is to not have anyone on a post, how is that Nelson's fault?

2 players asked Nelson more than once if he wanted anyone on the post.

On the other hand if Nelson wanted someone on the post and the players said no sorry Mr Leroy told me I'm not allowed.....

What's The Problem?

I assume we're talking about a free kick here?

Extremely rare you have a man on the post because you'll end up with 3 of the opposing team standing immediately in front of the keeper.
