Your First Bees Game

Your First Bees Game

Just to pre-empt my son's post in (I hope) 10 years's time. I took him to watch the Peterborough game yesterday - his first ever Bees match, To the chap standing next to us (we were by way over on the left of the ER terrace, who'd come as a casual visitor, thanks for your tolerance. My 8 1/2 year old son watched the first 90 seconds avidly, ,spent the next 10 minutes asking me how tall every player was and how high the floodlights were (how tall are they, by the way?) and then started running around. Eventually, after a half-time pie, I handed him his DS and he spent the second half enjoying Sonic. Grim, by 100% expected.

Your First Bees Game

My first bees game: QPR 2-1 Brentford. Think sh*ttu scored followed by a jay tabb equalizer. Mates grandad (R.I.P) took us. Sat right in the middle of New Road. Will always remember it

Your First Bees Game

Brentford 7 - 0 Plymouth

Anyone remember when this was played, my first game...maybe 93 / 94 ?

Your First Bees Game

You both have seen some fantastic and dreadful players pull on the famous red and white then. What was your favourite era coming to Brentford?

My favourite time at GP was in the terrible twins days (George Francis & Jim Towers) .They terrorised some of the best defenders in the league. The classiest player I've seen in a Bees shirt was Ken Coote- sheer magic-suberb timing

Your First Bees Game

One of the best games I saw at GP was in 1949 when we were in the old 2nd division. We were in the middle of a great FA cup run (reached the 6th round) and we beat Bury in the league 8-2 with an inside right ( xcuse the old terminology) called Peter McKennan scoring 5. I still have the programme but the front cover is missing. If anybody who collects Bees memorabilia would like it I'll send it to them

Letchbee - you've kept that programme for 61 years - please don't part with it now! :nono:

yes indeed, me and Mrs stayed down. Having beers in sun after game listening to locals saying we were the best team they had played in years.

All this after thinking the worst with a makeshift back 4.

Your First Bees Game

I think the first Bees game I went to was a 2-1 league cup victory over Palace about September 1977. There was some half-hearted pitch invasion by their lot, which was quickly countered by a response from the Royal Oak.

Your First Bees Game

At home v Plymouth March 1980. 1-1 and just over 6000 there. Stood on the Oak. Seem to remember that Plymouth had a player called Forbes Phillipson-Masters. Still got the prog somewhere.

Your First Bees Game

The first one I went to was the 4-1 defeat to Bristol City which relegated us to the third tier in 1993. But I was only 6 years old and didn't really know what was going on.

The first one that I remember was the 1-1 draw away at Huddersfield in the playoffs two years later.

Your First Bees Game

6-0 home win over Chester followed by a 7-2 win over hull city in the late 70's. Thought I was watching Brazil. It's been mainly downhill since then!

...you should take up skiing then...

Your First Bees Game

plymouth at home in f.a cup about 1970.I could not stop humming the tune to which the players came on the pitch(the power game I believe) for years afte, I think the game may have ended 0-0

Your First Bees Game

Notts County at home 87/88 season.
We won 1-0 (sir Bliss scored I believe) and had 2 goals dis-allowed by one of the worst refs I have ever seen in Alan Gunn. THe ref was so crap his name is burned into my mind even after all this time.

Your First Bees Game

March '62 - relegation year which set me up quite nicely for the next few decades.

Your First Bees Game

78 home to swansea 1 nil to us Dave Carlton the scorer standing behind the goal brook road end . What happened to Dave Carlton

I was mascot for that game with my sister and some other kid. What a game for the old man to choose!

I am reliably informed that my first game was at home to Swansea in early 1991 when we beat them 2-0. However, the first game I actually remember is the 1-0 home win over Reading in August 1993, the abiding memory being how fast Robert Peters was down the wing!

The first away game I can remember is Hull away in early 1995 when we won 2-1 with a total reversal in the final five minutes. The memories from that game are the wind, Grainger's swerving free kick and seeing loads of (surely drunk!) blokes going berserk in front of me when we scored our second goal, including my old man! :D

Think it was my ankle, i jumped over 3 rows of seats and clattered it. Worth it though. We went in pub with a DJ before the game. The club we went in at 5pm lol was Sergeant Peppers iirc.

Your First Bees Game

on BBC london today they were asking people about their 1st football match. after billy reeves did the travel they asked him. he replied "i was 8 years old when i went to my first brentford game, v gillingham. massive punch up at the ground, and another massive punch up at the station. i though to myself- this is how i want to spend my saturdays" well done billy!
