I thought Tony Funnell was early eighties. Didn't Fred Callaghan sign him about 1982?
No , he played in the team that won at portsmouth in 1980 booker and funnell the scorers, i was there again .

Your First Bees Game
I seem to remember a game when Bob Booker scored three goals against Hull City. I think we beat them 7-2 and I think it was 1979. Can anyone confirm this? How many of the three were scored at the Ealing Road end, how many at the Brook Road end but, most imprtantly, were you there EASTBRISTOLBEE7?

I was there but haven't got s clue which end the goals were scored in. My memory of the game was the wonderful performance of loanee Keith Fear, with the long hair and beard and praying that we would sign him - of course, we didn't!

I think yours was against Peterborough as well (all be it a few years after my first game!) 2-0 loss start of 94/95 season.

I'm sure if my memorys right it was a preseason friendly that summer against qpr, unless my mind has been ruined from drink...0-0 i think. Peterborough was my 2nd, you are most probably right though.

my first bees match at gp was aldershot. a boring 0-0 draw. march 1970 but it got me hooked on the bees. i went to most of our home games the following season. can anyone remember boxing day 1971 crewe home won 1-0 and the crowd nearly 20.000 i think john doc scored the winner not sure. but i still think that was the best bees team ive ever seen. big john upfront gelson at the back superb

amazin match i took me mates with me and saw nine goals at gp. cant remember what end the goals were scored but bob was never the same again i think he failed to score in the next few games.

royal oak forever
it was completed around summer 85. a very sad day indeed used to luv standing in the old royal oak. paticulee when we played watford scum. they tried to take the oak so many times but the boys sorted em out.

Apologies if I've already posted this, but my first (proper) game was Sept 91 against Bolton, we won 3-2 with Deano scoring twice and Gayle once. I remember Terry Evans being a giant, and Holdsworth looking absolute quality. Been to some games before this, but this was the one that got me hooked.

My first game was as a 10 year old v Bradford City in August 1958, our first game in the reorganised third division. We won 4-0 with Towers and Francis getting two each in front of a crowd of around 18,000. 9d to get in, 4d for the programme and 2d each way on the 655 trolleybus.
I was hooked straight away but circumstances prevented me from going again for about 6 weeks to the home game against Stockport. Having enjoyed my first game so much I persuaded (nagged) two mates to come along. Being Brentford of course we were hammered 4-1, even missing a penalty. They never came again.....

my first game was at home to Reading in 1964 i think, my dad was a bees supporter & decided at 7 years old i was big enough to suffer the pain

Slightly off topic but have been looking at previous seasons in Soccerbase and see that in the first match after I was born we drew 2-2 at Watford (1954) and on the day I got married in 76 we lost a thriller 2-1 at S****horpe. My son has the best anniversary in that we beat Fulham away 2-1 in August 1981 a few days after he was born.

My first game was as a 16-year old, v Wigan Athletic on 23/11/2002, Bees lost 1-0, I think Neil Roberts scored for the Latics. Bees were by far the better team, and the atmosphere was great, I was hooked, and bought a season ticket when the next season ticked around.

My daughter will attend her first bees game this Saturday.
We carefully picked a decent one, against top quality opposition, of course..
but the opposition.............................
should've made it Birmingham away!!my daughter went to Leyton Orient last friday, which was her first away day, and apart from the result, she was really impressed with the away 'experience' and with the 'mob' behind us singing loudly for the Bees, she was physically shaking

My daughter found a Tweenies gig too loud once. I'd spent a whole day the week before, fighting through the traffic to queue up for tickets at Wembley Arena, battled my way there again on the night of the gig, only for her to burst into tears when Fizz went into her first number. 12,499 smiling, laughing, dancing sprogs, and my one. Lasted two minutes. Even had to buy the bloody video on the way out to console her. Which was amazing because we were back home before they'd finished filming it. Cost a bloody fortune. Nothing to do with this thread, just needed to get it off my chest. Hope you don't mind.Will she be helping you with the burgers?

that wa sa great night,it was brilliant when Gleghorn put in that cracker,it did go mental.
Remember Derek 'Del Boy' Bryan was put through,after coming on on his debut as a sub,30+yard run at the goal un opposed only keeper to beat and, for reasons beyond me,decided to run across the goal and run it off the pitch,not even a shot in the dying moments!!

dont know my 1st ever game,1985/6,i was 3.My Mum took me to my 1st game though i dont remember it,sadly.i did go with my Grandad more regularly who was Ealing born n bred and went to Bees since he was a child,missed some good times since his passing that would have been great to share with him,his Brother still goes when he can

Took my daughter to see Lion King at the Theatre. Bloody brilliant it was until we had to leave as it was too loud.

BUMP! I suppose I'd class that as my first game I decided to go to off my own back, and came away thinking yep this is my team. Had been to a few before, but taken by uncles who also took me to QPR, so not sure if they count! Earliest I can remember is watching a 1-0 home defeat to Chester in the late 1980s from the top of the Wendy House, and the goalscorer doing a cheeky somersault in front of us after he scored. Also recall around the same time a game against Notts County I think, Andy Driscoll scoring twice. We all thought here's the next best thing, and he was never seen again!

My first game was during the war when both teams were made up of guest players who were in the forces at the time and billeted locally. The first game I can remember was when we were in the old first division against the mighty Charlton.I went with my dad and you had to be in the ground an hour before kick off before the gates were loked My old dad started to support the Bees in 1932.
