Firstly, by turning it around last year you mean finishing ninth.
Ninth is not good enough this year and he is miles from finishing ninth at the moment.

Secondly, the play-offs can still be reached if we win 70 points out of 114.
Owlsmoor and Nick Logan believe AS is capable of achieving that goal.
I dont believe that the style of play, tactics and formation and the inability to adapt under changing circumstances that AS adapts is good enough to achieve that goal.

AS gets his chance but he has to show us a sign tomorrow not just in what result we get but how we go about getting it.
If he fails again tomorrow we will need 70 points from 111. I am not watching sh*t football to achieve L1 survival. I will come back when our ambition is greater than that.

Blimey I kind of thought that if you were a Brentford supporter you went to as many games as you could as that was what it was all about we have been here before with bad times and poor results, in over 50 years what we are seeing now is hardly anything new!

I appreciate what Scott has acheived I wish the football was more entertaining however hopefully that will come. He is no doubt fully aware of the discontent from fans and is no doubt deperate to get some wins under his belt. Lets face it he does not go out setting theteam up to lose as thats just cutting his own throat!!

I hope that something starts to gell and that results start to pick up, yes we look a million miles away from doing well however a couple of sneaky 1-0 results and everything in the garden will be rosy. I would love a change of style and no doubt the board would love to see more punters paying on the gate however this is a long term plan and as such to put a short term time limit on the amount of games before making a change in manager is ridiculous.

I will moan when we lose as its good to let off steam whilst basking in the glory when we win. However I will never forsake the club I have siupported from a tiddler and find it difficult to comprehend those who say they wont return untill this or that takes place. I guess its each to their own however in my opinion thats just plain stooooopid!!!!:fishing:

They backed him this season with a £3m + playing budget.
They would be stupid to desert him so early.
So all those who have given up on Andy Scott - lets hear you name some alternatives ?

Read the thread Smiffy!!

So far these have been mentioned
Buckle, Pardew, Holdsworth, Coppell, Jewell, Ince, Dodgin, Lewington,

Plus
Staunton, Tillson, Ternant, Allen, Blackwell, Sanchez. (all given the big :nono::nono:)

My preference would be to entice Lewington away from Fulham now that Hughes has pushed him back to number three.
Pardew would be the most obvious choice.
Coppell would come here but its a small risk.

If you were tempted to throw a name into the frame other than AS who would you plumpt for.....:fishing:....?

Sousa if given the boot at Leicester, can overlook his short stay up the road and maybe the way he was treated by them would give him an extra incentive to do well here.

Blind Faith is not my cup of tea.

The football is rubbish and the ambition of both a majority of GPG fans and Manager does not match mine given the budget AS had and the players he has signed, all commended.

I just believe he has limited coaching and man management ability and when I watched him on telly for the Weds game he looked like he knew he was under pressure. The relief when we won was very apparent.

AS has himself said his job is on the line yet some people on here seem to have been ignoring those comments.

Andy Scott

Oh I see: "please" changes everything. So if I say "please go feck yourself..."

You can say what you like but I do my best to stop things being personal on here, Mr Logan and I have a pact that we can discuss from the oppsoite ends of Scott love without it becoming personal, it works so please feel free to join in.

Andy Scott

Meaning your opinion is not based on hard evidence.

I think that is a little unfair.I am sure Wayfarer 172 would be at lots of games were he able , but his posts in recent times seem to indicate that his health does not allow him to.
He is still entitled to come on to the GPG and express an opinion.

I too am not able for a number of reasons to attend matches as often as I would like, the two home games that I have been to this season have been dire.I thought we really struggled to beat a very poor Cheltenham side in CC round 1 and the game v Hartlepool was awful, most players gave 100% but the tactics of hoofball with Charlie Mac and Alexander up front against 4 large defenders were pathetic, this can only be down to the manager and this seems to be an opinion shared by many on here, even the Scott supporters.
As Bees fans we are used to having roller coaster seasons and losing lots but the current brand of football being served up at the moment seems to the main bone of contention..Sort it out Mr Scott please !

Andy Scott

Maybe the players aren't doing what AS is asking them to do !!!!!

Just trying to be a bit different, thinking a bit on the lateral.

A fair response. Let's keep it civil. Trouble with email and instant messaging like this is that shades of irony get lost and feelings tend to escalate. I take it that you position yourself somewhere towards the lower end on the Scott-love scale.

Even if that were the case, isnt the Manager's job to Manage his players?

I very much doubt that the manager, players or board have a lower ambition they all want to be plying their trade in the division above, likewise the supporters would far rather be watching football in the championship however as yet we are not there.

As to Scotts job being on the line well of course it is, so is every managers in the country with just a few exceptions and he knows that if the results in the league continue as they are then at some point he will be out of work.

man management a difficult call, reading David Hunty blogg we seem to have a very happy squad who get on very well, if his man management skills were so bad then that would not be the case. You can argue over team selection as many people are baffled by some decisions, however reading proposed teams from the supporters there is often vast differences in those as well.

Coaching? he has his style and for the last 2 seasons like it or loath it he has managed to get the team playing to that style with a degree of success and I would imagine that ultimatley this group of players will aslo manage to do the job well. Whether it is a style that can acheive promotion is a different argument and perhaps needs to be divorced from this thread.

My posts are i hope clear, I am not an apologist for Scott and do not just have blind faith, I would like to see some changes as in my opinion it would improve performances, however at the end of the day Scott will detemine the style and personnel of his team and will either be praised for his success or shown the door.

I am happy to see criticism and prasie on here providing they are constructive and can be justified and everyone is entitled to their own point of view however lets not go over the top, there is time to put things right and whilst I would love promotion this term I am happy to accept that this year may well be a team building one with the real run for promotion next season based on a team that have gelled and just require a little tinkering to be a real force.

of course he does - he's human.

the only managers NOT under day to day pressure are sir alex and arsene.

but he cannot be allowed to go from hero to villain in such a short space of time even allowing for the right wing hangers and floggers who always call for blood.

I've been nothing but civil, my days of raging on here and getting PMs offering to beat me are up are over, I hope.:D
I've never been in love with AS, I felt he was lucky to get the gig but went on to do well. I didn't get much of a buzz out of last season and even though the finish to last season financially was a good one, I did find it a bit of a yawn fest with poor football and lack of atmosphere. Knowing what was happening in the summer, I can't understand why we have started so poorly this season, this club is on a massive high off the pitch and it's a huge downer the on field stuff hasn't shown that thus far.
There are normally 3 car loads of Bees from Northampton at every game, I think there are 2 people and 1 car going tonight. I actually find that sad, nobody is interested after Friday. I posted with real anger on Friday and continued on Saturday, hindsight is wonderful thing but I should have kept well away, I know that and so do you. Do I want him sacked, not really, do I want us to improve under him, of course, do I think he will make that happen, I have big doubts.

I want(I won't say demand as that irony was lost last time) 3 points tonight, a performance would be good but a scrappy win would be better.

Good post :sorted: albeit from someone not as left from centre as I am.

The last paragraph however clearly shows that I have not got my point across. MB is expecting this squad to be pushing for a play off place THIS season. It does not matter if some are looking through rose tinted glasses or like me agree that we should be playing better brand of football and achieving better results.

What does matter and will matter is whether MB believes that AS is capable of delivering the season's objective and if he has any doubts when will he implore the board to take decisive action. I can not see anyone with the money MB has accummulated allowing us to simply avoid relegation this season, it is not an option. Not when the Manager is being paid £125K a year and has assembled what everyone (AS lovers or not) agrees to be the best squad we have had for many years.

We are either pushing for the play-offs (70 points from 114 available) or we are not and at the moment we are miles from it under Scott.

Nobody including me is turning AS into the villain. It is not as if he is dragging us down, he is guaranteed to keep us in L1 this year and whilst that works in his favour at the bottom end of expectations, it works against him at the top end.

I would be happy for him to have a senior coach come in above Scott in a Director of football role. I have no dislike for him as a man as I have said before its just I believe he is as limited a coach and manager as he was as a player

:banghead: Not ignoring them just saying i don't think his job should be on the line. How do you think staying away will help in any way ? Managers manage, players play , supporters support. Thats the way it is. Your user name doesn't fit well with hissy fits.

Its not a hissy fit its a decision based on finances, health and the reason I go to watch Brentford, enjoyment.

I have found myself watching the Bees and NOT enjoying it. That is mostly due to the brand of football served up not necessarily the end result.
I am not demanding change, although I would expect it if we lose badly tonight.

I dont get the love in regardless of promotion, 9th and Cup run.
In L2 AS clearly showed that he has something. Last season Chesney was an inspired acquisition and contributed above anybody else to our final position and that 9th place finish was probably a misrepresentation of our season.

Andy Scott

Sousa if given the boot at Leicester, can overlook his short stay up the road and maybe the way he was treated by them would give him an extra incentive to do well here.

Definitely no. According to my brother in law who is sadly a Ranger the style of play they endured under Sousa was very similar to the way Scott sets up his teams. Very defence minded with little creativity.

Andy Scott

I cannot go tonight, but i shall listen to the game with interest. If we lose 4-0 - to the top side, at the moment - but the reports say that we played good football, looked dangerous, and acquitted ourselves well - i will be a lot happier than if we lose 1-0, and the reports say we played the same old pretictable and tired crap that we have pretty much since the season began.

I think that, even now, play-offs are a tall order, but i would be happy just to see some signs of improvement. If, as i say, it is the same old same old, then steps must be taken.

Sadly enough, after their joke succession of managers, Warnock is now being hailed as the new Messiah.

yes we were Champs of league 2,but in a worse than normal sh*te league and Championship loanees playing a big part.

Who says it was a worse than normal league?
Isn't six points a big enough margin?
What's wrong with using Championship loanees?
Doesn't everyone play the loan system as best they can?
Wouldn't it be fair to say that AS has played it better than most (Rhodes, Clarke, Pim, Chesney, etc)?
Why is it that when Brentford lose or fail to win it's always to a crap team, as if other teams are incapable of playing well?
Why are people so reluctant to give credit where it's due?

Exactly. You don't hear people saying 'Arsenal wouldn't have won the league in the late 90s if they didn't have Henry' or 'Barca wouldn't win the league if they didn't have Messi'.

There is 3 points to be won tonight and I always feel we are capable of getting them, less so after the previous weeks of feeling over confident.

Blind Faith is not my cup of tea.

No, blind faith is not mine either, but support is. I know this scentence will possibly annoy people, but my first approach with this club will always be the same - i SUPPORT the bees. My dad made sure I was born in hospital with a brentford scalf over the bed, and that will never change. (and i may never forgive him...)
I obviously still get frustrated with the team, and I believe the main point of contention this season is because of the increased budget, and people may have a point there as the season goes by, but at the same time, I get the impression here that some people only want to follow a successful team, and 3 points is the only thing that matters. With regards to this, i'm sorry, but chelsea is just up the road, so is arsenal, so is QPR even. To support Brentford FC, and then to get frustrated because your football team is underperforming... it's just... I... Football is a game, it is a way of enjoying yourself in your spare time, and it should be a way of putting a smile on your face.
I know that im getting close to being a bit annoying in terms of "oh nothing matters because i like football," and i dont mean to be, but we should just try and keep a bit of perspective.

And to anyone who thinks Pardew is the answer... actually forget it, i'm not going to drag myself down any further.

MB/Board "Ok there you go!" Mills hands over £3M

three months later

MB "WTF Andy?"
AS "it takes time to gel you'll see! watch us destroy Everton"
MB "I wont be distracted by the Cup Andy"

Two days later
AS "We are charged up ready to go boss, what a great night, lets hope we get a good draw tomorrow"
MB "Forget tomorrow Andy get me a fecking draw tonight"
AS "Draw boss, the players are like the Rochdale players after their exploits two days before coming here and fecking embarassing us, and I wont have to make any changes just let them off their leashes and whooo hooo....."

Saturday morning...
MB " WTF Andy? Thought you did not have to make any changes?"
AS " Tactics boss, I thought it would motivate all the players and remind them who is boss so I dropped our Man of the Match just to reemphasise the message that I put across when I got shot of them three eejits to Wycombe, nobodys job is safe, one off performances are nothing, its all about me and dont they forget it! Do you like my new suit? it wont go with the club tie but I am getting more media work these days on top of the 125 large ones you give me so I have to look sharp, innit!"

MB "well you said it Andy! C U Next Tues!

Well grow up then and get in the real world. I am 44 btw and my waist size is of a similar number so thats a lot of hot dinners.

Stop blowing hot air about MB being supportive as well. If performances and results do not improve MB will have Scott sacked in seconds if that is his whim.

Don't want to grow up thanks , grown ups are boring. I am in the real world thanks, you are the one in a minority re AS.
