Forsters problem is rumoured to be a hernia.
AS's credibility is hardly enhanced when four days after saying Forster can only play 20-25 minutes he gives him his first full match of the season in a
wide right wing role, when we have three right wingers on the bench !?!?
.

It's a very good point.

Some very interesting posts, and some good points made.

Andy is a young, inexperienced manager. Therefore he is learning.

Is it worth sticking by Mr Scott, and bringing in a consultant, (eg Coppell, or someone who's done it all before with a high level of tactical knowledge)

Therefore Andy has somebody there to get appropriate and respected advice, which will only help him grow as a manager. Tactical help is needed here, we definately have the players to compete.

Just an idea, am I being stupid?

good idea mate!

How would that work then? I don't know what job you do but I wonder how you might feel if your manager came to you and said that you can't do your job properly, so they'll get someone to come in and tell you what to do.

Let's not forget that Andy Scott is likely to earn an awful lot of money to do his job - if the board felt that he cant do it, I would suggest that they find someone who can rather than try and prop him up.

Scott also has an assistant manager and numerous coaches and senior players to assist if necessary.

Andy Scott

Personally, I think AS already has that mentor figure in Bullivant. Is he listening to him? Bringing someone else in would be pointless. It is reasonable to deduce that AS is an intelligent man and with his knowledge of players he must do a lot of research and watch a lot of football. I don't think he doesn't know tactics per se he is stubborn with the way he wants to play. As he was a winger himself it is not really a suprise that wingers feature so heavily as part of our style.

Adaptability is where AS really suffers. His apparent fear of subs at times makes his strategy about as flexible as wrought iron. I think maybe he is an "over thinker", I reckon he has put so much time in looking at the oppo that he will stick with his game plan whatever. He needs a concrete time he has to sort it out then he needs take that to the players and explain they have some time to get it right and get them to play with freedom and start shooting FFS!. The last thing we need (assuming the players are all behind him) is people evenmore scared to play because the axe is being sharpened. Adams and Alexander are not scared to shoot and GA will get a shot in from anywhere as if you hit the target it can bounce out etc etc. As someone else said Toumani/Bean have got to get up the pitch, Kev can sit.

Does anyone know our shots and shots on target stats ?

We don't even have "loyal supporters" ..as has been proved over the years. Maybe this is us kicking and screaming our way into modern football with the instant success or nothing mentality that is prevelant in the higher leagues.

Dont include me into that!!
Or the others who go week in week out...each season.
Becasue we support Brentford FC.
I want them to win every match but if they dont I'll still be there!
People who stay away because they dont like the manager or the way we play that is stupid!
I didint like Leroy, Wally, Terry or Fitz but trips to Blackpool when we won 3 - 1 ? was pure class.
Why should I let those people who wont be at the club longer than a few years stop me going??
Yes it is a sh*te run were on right now if things didint improve, ill still go like I know a a few loyal others will.
If you dont like the football and stay away then you obviously love nice football over Brentford so feck off down the bridge!!!

Agree with you on that I'm sure there are a great many supporters who travel the length and breath of the country regardless of who the manager is or how the team are doing at a given time. True support stems a lot from the heart!

I'll be there Saturday and will get behind my team .Looking forward to it.

Isn't Bullivant there for that reason though?

Andy Scott

How many of the other 91 teams have you watched this season? ;)

6 and they play the ball below 200 foot, which is a start on us. They even pass the ball forward. If you enjoy our style your watching the wrong sport.

Andy Scott

I think it is time for TB to stand up and be counted, let him do the post match interview on Saturday and hear what he has to say. He is a tried and tested coach and I want to hear his views.

Wouldn't we all? :sorted:

Andy Scott

I take it the 78% haven't been to a game in the last two years then. We must play the worst football in all 4 divisions.

Hereford and Barnet seem to disprove your argument

Andy Scott

Isn't Bullivant there for that reason though?

If he is, its clearly not working. I was just saying do we invest and train him up/improve him, or do we sack, pay his compo and bring in someone new?

Andy Scott

Don't remember us losing by seven goals yet

Andy Scott

Ooooooooh you naughty boy. You shouldn't be saying stuff like that.

Been saying it since the beginning of last season, just don't like the way we play, losing doesn't bother me as much as the awful football we have to watch.

Andy Scott

At the moment I'll take the worldiest ugliest 1-0, just get us some points please

Andy Scott

one thing that worries me is the statement" we are not a bottom 4 team" sorry Andy but the table doesnt lie, we are a bottom four team, in fact rockbottom four team. We are 24th put of 24. there is no such thing as being too good to go down if we finish where we are we will go down and unless things change thats exactly where we are going. Back down amongst the dead men.

As I said early it doesn't lie but it doesn't tell the whole story either

So 6 six teams play a better style of football than us? Fair do's.

I am a Brentford supporter and I will be coming to Griffin Park regardless of the style we play. I just want to see some wins. Please?

You win, can't argue with you. I also want to win, but I also want to be entertained as well, am I asking to much.

Myself, I think that the week before Christmas the Table doesn't lie; right now I agree with kevalutonbee that it doesn't tell the whole story.

The salvation might lay with Simpson coming back; and Carl Cort getting a bit more match fit; both of these are capable of creating something from nothing.

There is also one other player who hasn't been talked about much who we might have missed last night given the way the team was set up; David Hunt; played a key role when we stifled Leeds at GP last December. Did the same job equally well in the last ten minutes at Sheffield Wednesday before his injury.

Andy Scott

I would suggest that one key issue right now is how much authority AS has over his players. With a run of results like ours, I would expect their confidence to be suffering and they will be asking questions about him to themselves. It will be interesting to see what sort of performance they put in on Saturday.
And I will predict this: if we lose badly, say Charlton score four goals, which would likely happen because out of frustration they give up when they go one or two nil down, then that's it. Then it's over. You'll see the board act pretty quickly then to replace AS. And I am not saying I am wishing this to happen.

There is only one way he is going to save his arse, ans that is a change of tactics. His style does not work. Scott aint going anywhere yet, but if we don't see a big improvement by Christmas then he will be out of the door. Easy as and nobody can argue with that. So pecker up Andy and get this team buzzing.

I really hope not.

Andy Scott

I've heard that we are going to sign 3 strikers to solve our lack of goals.
Murray Jones , Stan Webb & Lee Frost

Andy Scott

assess the situation after the cup run please.

ps - has the SCOTT OUT bandwagon been banned from the gpg?

:love2:

Stan Webb will sort it for sure; best move we ever made was to sell that stroppy, gangly Ulster geezer who kept trying to head goals from outside the penalty area.

Our defence is not a bottom four defence but our attack sure is at the moment

Andy Scott

Can I just add as a rider to what I said.... I said If we are there at the end of the season we will go down but at present we are a bottom four team and I hope that Andy can sort it out sharpish and get us climbing the table. but and it is a big but Andy Scott needs to see that things are not working and think of some new tactics or new style of play because at present as many have said before we dont have a Plan B to change to in fact sometimes I dont think we even have a plan A

Andy Scott

Scott did a good job when he took over from Butcher, he made some astute signings when we needed the final push the season before last, Clark, Rhodes and Hunt.

when it looked as if we'd be bottom 4 last xmas he turned it around with the excellent loan signing on Woji although 9th was a false position imo and more to do with Woji than the rest of the team so I hope he can do it again now

.He wont have too long left if results carry on as they are but he has proved he can turn it around before so I think he can now. What I'd like to see is the fringe players like Saunders, McCracken go to free up some wages for a couple of new additions especially in centre mid where we clearly lack an attacking option

Andy Scott

Just read the Hounslow Chronicle article about Sam Saunders. I feel sorry for him, Richard Lee, Alan Bennett, Michael Spillane, Glenn Poole, David McCracken, Mark Phillips, Nicky Forster, etc... Andy's done well at Brentford results wise, but I definately wouldn't want to work for him. You'd never know whether you're coming or going.

PS. Is there a generic Andy Scott thread? I couldn't find one.

Andy Scott

 Guys, I like AS. He was a legend as a player! Maybe there's a lesson there for any future ex Bees player as a manager ? He speaks great, but we have to recognise that the players just ain't doing it for him. Anyone considered Norwich this time last year? What action did they take with Gunn, undoubtedly a Norwich legend? Difficult & painful for all concerned, but just remind me what happened to Norwich at the end of last season?
OK, we are Brentford not Norwich, but the ambition & playing budget was the playoffs & we can STILL do it if we make the difficult decision now. Norwich didn't add players, they just got a new manager who did the bus. with the staff they had. Our board must do the same. Save Andy & the fans the pain & change now whilst we can salvage something from the season.
Alan Pardew for me. Experienced, not needing dosh & with something to prove to the football fraturnity. London lad as well. Let's avoid ex Bee's players for the reasons stated above. Let legends be exactly that.
Move on Andy, learn & thanks for all you have done for us. Let's do it now Bee's board!!! Have the courage.

Andy Scott

I strongly belive that a few of our players are only giving 75% in league games and are only playing for us because its a steping stone to biger things or that they see us as pushovers who pay wages for players who hardly play. the evidence is in the two bigest comercial games this season for our lads which is sheffield wed on sky and everton theses matches is were you goning to get noticed as a player .
