Another Manager Poll

Who is this experienced manager who is going to drag us out of this division? Do we get a guarantee? Didn't Holder only manage Brentford? Didn't Scott get success at the (more or less) first attempt? Give Forster a chance!

Another Manager Poll

I think folks are forgetting that this isn't Fozzie's squad. The loanees he has brought in have improved the team and performances have improved considerably. It's clear to all of us where the big deficiencies lie and Fozzie should be given the oppo to clean out the stables and bring in the kind of players he needs to fit in with our new style. Any new manager would wish to be judged on his own personnel and performances.

Another Manager Poll

These aren't Nicky's players are they? (with the exception of the loanee's). One great performance didn't make me think he was the man for the job and one poor one doesn't make me think he isn't! Eddie Howe wasn't experienced and look what he did with muff! I'm just glad I don't have to make the decision as I wouldn't have a clue!!

Another Manager Poll

Decision time Brentford FC.

Agreed fully. Forster not my choice however. We have a team that is both fairly lacking in ability in key positions and is full of non triers. Something more experienced than NF is required IMHO. Not been overly impressed with several of his loanees. Who would realistically keep Neilson, Byrne, red for next year. Not me.

Have to agree entirely with this, most of these are Scott's players & NF has tried to improve things with some loanees but these are mainly youngsters & your'e never going to be sure what you get. Most of AS's signings have been awful, take Pim for example, he has looked more like a non lge player than legge which has meant we had to have an inexperienced pair of legge & osborne. Our midfield of KOC, Bean & Dave are never going to propel us up the lge & Alexander & Mac up front are the slowest forward line in this div.

JT Don't think many of this lot ( the whole team ) will be around next season. However yes I would keep Neilson. I feel today NF will know who is up for a fight, and there ain't many there.

Another Manager Poll

Should've been Martin Allen from the off.
We would have a trophy plus a play off chance.
Football is hard, Nicky is a fine man but Alllen is Brentford, end of !

Another Manager Poll

come on then hands up who wanted gary johnson!

"I could walk out of the door tomorrow but I don't think that would help although some people would like me to do that listening to a few people." after another northampton defeat. at home. conceding four.

martin allen? if we find ourselves in the bottom two at any time with time running out, then he's the man i'd like. otherwise, he's an entertaining guy but not a winner of leagues and promotion.

NF still has a few games left to win the job. let's see how he's done when we've played our 46th 3rd Division game of the season. there could still be three more.

Another Manager Poll

having just read MA's notes on the barnet site, i do hope whoever gets the fulltime gig takes tips from him on how to communicate with your fans. he is in a class of his own when it comes to this aspect. i think that's mainly why a lot of people want him back.

Another Manager Poll

I'm kinda with you. But I don't think NF getting the gig full time is going to boost season ticket sales come close season. BFC have got a lot of tough decisions to make when this campaign is over.

Another Manager Poll

I agree, but I keep reading on here things like the board would never have him back. I have no idea if that is true or not. If it isn't true then I hope to see MA here for the start of next season. If it is true then it would be somewhat disappointing that the business of appointing a manager would be approached in that way, but something we could do little about. After all, the board have to work with whoever gets it.

I just wish it was all about the right person for the job, and someone the fans want. That someone is MA. Of course the football was awful under him at times (don't expect tippy tappy), but if I am being honest though I like NF, I get the same vibes off him as I did AS.

The board dislike MA as much as they do me and VOICE.
He has said too much and showed little respect to certain people.
A man driven by passion and the will to succeed without self gain or greed.
Bring him in, he will drive this club to the next level IMO,

I doubt the board even know who "you and voice" are ............or care !

Another Manager Poll

People talk about the players not being NF's, but how many of them are contracted for next season. He may not be able to move too many out of the door.

Another Manager Poll

No no no no, we need an experienced manager. NF isnt the one.

Another Manager Poll

Yes time we went for a experienced manager Forster isn't the answer also not sure what experience Warburton has as a coach at this level.
Time to find someone else and bring them in this season so they will get a chance to asses the squad.

:imwith:
If you are in the relegation positions, then he can wind up players to perform at 110%; he's no tactician, though, and he's not a man to take a team forward. Although some say they love his constant banter, I think that better football on the pitch will rank higher. Having listened to his radio interview yesterday, I'm not sure what medication he's on but it doesn't seem to be working. He's not going to get the gig, so we just need to move on.

NF has shown naivety in the last two games; perhaps he's not got the scouting support but the teams have not been set up taking the opposition into account. There's still time for him to turn it around but it's looking less likely for him.

I really hope the selection committee has head-hunted a manager to the short-list that can move us onwards and upwards; I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Another Manager Poll

come on then hands up who wanted gary johnson!

Early on, I did, but then I changed my mind and voted for Keith Hill, who I would vote for again if there was another poll.
To be fair to him, we don't know what mess Gary Johnson's inherited at Northampton.
Back last October/November I was urging us to get Deano. I still think it would be a good choice and I'm confident that next season Aldershot will be in the top six in that division.

I reckon if our season peters out with more performances like yesterday's then that will guarantee Nicky won't be manager next season.
If we finish strong and miss the play-offs by three points or less, then surely he's got a strong case to continue next season.
Or he could do a job swap with Deano.
Think of the songs! "Oh, Deano" to the tune of Dexy's "Geno."

To be fair to Nicky, previous to the Carlisle game at Wembley, we've been playing some nice football and getting good results.

Another Manager Poll

I'm not a NF fan, because we might as well just randomly pick any player to be our manager as there are thousands with as much experience as him. However, it is quite ridiculous for those who have been supporting him to be full-time manager to change their minds based on two bad matches. The majority of NFs previous games have hardly been great to watch despite what is said by some and we had a few lucky results which helps all managers.

If the board are seriously considering giving NF the full time gig - and I think they are - then they have been telling the fans lies about how the shortlist is being drawn up and how the new manager will have to meet laid down criteria.

I would love Martin Allen back, but know it isn't going to happen. if NF is going to be given the job, give it to him now. We need to back a manager completely, not change our minds depending on what the previous games score was. I got criticised for saying that the board were dithering in previous posts, but I'll be proved right if they choose NF or some other non-tested manager.

I agree with you re Allen. This board do not want him here. The fans do, but as the board don't, he won't be coming. Ma here with Nf as his no 2. Not a bad shout. Still the gpg fans polled Gary Johnson before Allen, Cannot see how Johnson was so popular. So lucky old Northampton.

Another Manager Poll

I have to say that I'm amused and bemused by some of the anti Fozzie stuff being posted. Before the P.Pot disappointment, things were progressing nicely and now we've lost a league game too [ admittedly we didn't put in a shift]. I've no idea who the fictional experienced manager is who will do a better job than Fozzie. In leagues 1 and 2 there's only Hill at Rochdale IMO but he'll be off to a Championship job in the summer. And Coppell aint coming. If there's a Championship manager who would come to us it must be cos he got tin tacked. I think [ yes] we're still in with a shout for the playoffs but must win our last 6 but quite frankly, that would be a massive bonus for us and nothing short of miraculous if it happened. Fozzie and the Breadman are trying to change our act to a footballing style which is essential to get us up and out of this league. What is evident is that some of the squad aren't up to it while others are and Fozzie needs the chance to improve the midfield and get a couple of strikers. I'm delighted that Fozzy has got us to where we are cos quite frankly, we were a sinking ship before he took over. As for MA, well he aint coming back and although we had great times, he was tactically naive and we went into a wall against Sheff Weds and then Swansea who gave us a footballing lesson in the playoffs. I really hope Fozzie gets the job and they give him a large bottle of Dettol to disinfect the squad over the summer.

Another Manager Poll

I DONT THINK FOZZY SHOULD GET THE JOB,I DONT THINK HE CAN TAKE US TO THE NEXT LEVEL , I THINK AN AIDY BOOTHROYD OR MAYBE DANNY WILSON ,ITS TIME TO WAKE UP AND SMELL THE ROSES ,WE NEED AN EXPERIENCED MANAGER NOT ANOTHER FITZGERALD OR LEROY,FORSTER OUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IF U DONT THINK THE SAME ,THEN U OBVIOUSLY WANT TO REMAIN IN LEAGUE 1

No need to SHOUT !!............Danny Wilson is a manager who likes to play good football, as a player he was cultured midfielder. Boothroyd no f*****g way

Another Manager Poll

3 weeks ago NF is being touted as the only possible option that needs to be appointed immediately.
2 poor performances later and he's inexperienced and get rid, well maybe the board were spot on in not making a decision until thd end if the season when they'd had sufficient time to see how NF fared.

For what it's worth I don't want MA back as the next manager, the football style is too similar to AS and if we don't hit the ground running too many fickle fans will be calling for his head and we'll be wasting a second year if MB investment. Praying that the board have identified who they want and I hope it's to oversee NF in building on the promising start.

Another Manager Poll

It really is not worth panicking at this point.
He was given the task of steadying the ship after the Scott debacle and that is exactly what he has done.
NF has done a very decent job up until now IMO.
If we win our next couple of games the mood all of a sudden changes about him i'm sure
2 bad games does not mean he is not cut out for the full time job lets just see where the last 6 games takes us.

Flaming hell what are you on about, if Scott had been in charge I can more or less guarantee we would not have even got to Wembley and if he had stayed in charge we would be serious relegation candidates. Hiowever as you feel someone like Aidy Boothroyd to be the answer then I guess you are a supporter of the long ball which bypasses midfield, same as Scott.

Under Forster we have tried to start to play football, unfortunately for a lot of our players this is a new idea so when things go wrong we revert to our old ways, However it is by playing football not hoofball that teams progress in any division unless you find that magic forward who has pace and ability and can get you 30 odd goals a season. Realisticly we are not likely to unearth one of those so need a manager who can get his team to play controlled patient passing football, Forster seems to favour that style however he needs to finish the season well from this point on and show to the board that if the players seemingly are disinterested then he has the bottle to replace them with ones who will try.

Aidy Boothroyd was just in the process of taking Coventry down to Division 1 to join us when the club got wise and sacked him. A Coventry fan I work with said his style was very one dimensional, quite effective when it worked but dreadful to watch when it didn't.
