I wasn't at Walsall so can't comment on the performance. What is very evident [ don't we know it] is that there's a lot of deadwood that has to be pruned.....

Careful what you say, for criticising the poor little cherubs may see you branded a moron on here who "shouldn't have an Internet connection" as well. ;)

really?

hollins... he was just the worst example i could remember of past alleged failed interviewees... including wilder & patterson?

was it micky adams or dave bassett (or both) who got offended that they were linked with us?

Once these lads have managed in the Premiership thats where they want to be and they have their price.Coppell wanted 20k a week at Brighton 2 year ago and Mr Bloom said he couldn't afford that because thats what Reading paid him.Dave Bassett gets offended by his own shadow im afraid and we may see Micky Adams at GP next season with his beloved Blades if they havn't sacked him by then.We have to be realistic im afraid to say and i seriously think that next seasons gaffer already knows he will be in charge.

Not 1% Nicky F fault, the damage was done well before he took over, to many poor players signed by the previous manager on long term contracts, which is the bit that worries me more then Nicky F taking over as full time manager.

Wilder was interviewed after his successes at a cash strapped Halifax, he has since done a decent job of getting Oxford promoted and moving them forward. He could easily be one that is in a job that may get considered.
Bassett got offended that he was asked to recommend possible managers but not be considered himself.

Dispite the last 3 results still would be happy with the present management team,l can't come up with a creditable alternative and after 31 pages on this in my opinion nor can anyone else.Just look at Garry Johnson (who l admit was on my list)Eddie Howe, Micky Adams, and others who have taken over struggling sides if the players are not good enough you got no chance. The million dollar question is would you give NF a 3 mill playing budget next season? What ever happens l would thank NF/MW for keeping us in this league dispite this pile of crap on the field.

Another Manager Poll

the one sure fact is that us mushrooms will be kept in the dark until next season fixtures have been announced

come on bfc the season is over get them interviews done and give us a name to take over at the end of the season BEFORE the season ticket prices are announced
we then know what we are paying for!!!
inspire us/give us a lift and a reason to buy a season ticket for next year or leave it and let a few more fans drift away

What worries me most at the moment is NF seems to be going to down the same route as AS. I wasn't there last night but playing players out of position to accommodate them and stating we played well when all other reports point to the contrary is all very familiar.

One thing is for sure, appointing NF and MW isn't going to give the club the immediate boost it needs to halt falling attendances and increase season ticket sales. Whether it is the right thing to do in the long-term, I'm really not sure. We complain about the squad NF inherited but none of his signings have set the pulses racing and those that looked decent - Reed and Schlupp - seem to have quickly had any talent knocked out of them as is so often the case.

I think board is in a near enough impossible position. If they really think they can go out and get a Chris Hughton, an Alan Curbishley or even a Di Matteo then that would be the shot in the arm this club desperately needs. If not, we may as well stick with what we have but they shouldn't expect the attendances or atmosphere to change any time soon because we really are stuck in a rut. A win at Wembley would've gone a little way to addressing that but it was yet another blown opportunity.

Agreed and i'd be more than happy to hear that Nicky and Mark have given the gig next season.

What they've managed to do with a poor squad since they took over says alot imho. The season was ruined before feb and yet they've changed a bunch of hoofers into a team that can play attractive football and entertain all be it in a limited fashion sometimes.
A few games ago we were even starting to believe we could reach that last playoff spot, something that seemed ridiculous before AS went.

We have no decent fowards, one decent midfielder and 2 good defenders at best. Not only that but because of the lengthy delay and indecision in getting rid of Scott,we missed the last transfer window and the new pair were left to scrap around trying to find a few loan deals from those players left on the shelf by everyone else.

Everyone knows that to set a team up to play a new style of football takes a pre season and even then it would take a few games to get into it,but from their 1st game in charge we had changed beyond belief and that's quite an achievement.

I want to see massive changes in the playing staff during the close season but how many clubs we'll be able to blag into taking the sh*t off our hands, remains to be seen.

Hardly fair. Scott had complete control of who to buy and how to play them. Forster only has the option of trying to find a mix, from an inadequate selection ,which will work.

I'm hoping the board have already earmarked the man they want and the news will give everyone a massive lift. Sticking with an L plate manager would mean that they're resigned to the status quo and just keeping their fingers crossed that things work out.

Who ever we get to manage it will be fingers crossed,as Guildford Bee said the board seem to be in difficult situation, not unless they have a pleasant surprise for us and if so HURRY UP and tell us as we are sinking.

Possibly he's the caretaker manager of Brentford FC ?

I like what Nicky is trying to do, but I believe it's unfair to judge him whilst he stuck with Scott's dross signings.
If we had won last night all the talk today would be what a great team selection he made. The only 2 questionable positions were the keeper who by all accounts was responsible for 2 of their goals and possibly Reed on the right, apart form that I thought he got it spot on.....
I would like the club to make him Manager now and all this opinion and speculation will end.

Sam should not have been on left, Reed should not be on right, Osborne should have started and Weston or Wood shoud have too.

new manager for me. Mr Forster had a fairly easy task in my eyes when he took over, just told them to go and play football. Now the going is getting a little tougher I worry about his credentials.....BUT......there has to be a suitable replacement, as mentioned thousands of times, no idea who that could be, really think O'Driscoll at Donny has taken them as far as he can, but just don't see any chance of him joining us.

Tend to agree with this post. Just think we need a fresh face with fresh ideas IF the board will sanction a mass clear out. Otherwise we might as well carry on as we are for another season. Probably good enough to stay up but no where near good enough for promotion.

Forster's comments regarding the importance of Alexander and MacDonald concern me greatly. He has shown tactical naivity in recent matches and I don't like how Simpson is included in the team ahead of Bignall and Weston in spite of his pathetic little rant on Twitter. He should have been told to pack his bags and **** off back up north, just like Ainsworth last season.

Another Manager Poll

I would be a very worried Bee if NF gets the gig, he's a manager in the making but we need more than that. It's been an expensive learning curve this season and I don't think I could stand another sh*tty league campaign with these constant surrenders. Since MA has left we've had some really crap defeats where we have simply rolled over, I know he had a few himself but the numbers have been high ever since, I expect defeats but defeats like the last two are really unacceptable. I look back at how Chester, Port Vale and Accrington simply rolled over at GP during AS's promotion season and remember how I felt about watching other teams do it, never thought I'd see our lot do it so often since then.
NF isn't the man IMO, as soon as you see teams lose like we have recently and the manager can't seem to turn it around during the game, then you have a problem. He's too nice anyway, perhaps he will get nastier in time.

Another Manager Poll

The key is getting a manager with the correct footballing approach. I can't see anyone in a job at Championship level coming to us. In League 1 only Hill [ Rochdale] or Tisdale [ Exeter] would be suitable IMO. Of these, I'm sure Hill will find himself managing a Championship club next season[ for one reason or another] and I can't see him coming. I can't see Tisdale coming either unless there's a very good sales job done. I don't see anything from League 2 being worth a punt either. IMO there's a lot of wishful thinking about certain top flight names who just aint coming here. So I'm happy if Fozzy gets it . I do think the Board should make that decision now. Fozzy is in a difficult position as he remains on trial so probabaly can't be as draconian as he'd like for fear of getting more losses. He needs room/freedom to experiment and assess who he thinks can fit in with the new style.

I think the key is finding someone who knows how to spend MB's cash. Forget all these names floating about like Hill, Still, MA etc. We're not a shoestring club anymore. We need someone like Sven who can raise the profile of the club and attract the kind of player we can actually now afford.

IMO

Di Matteo would play the kind of football desired and has done well at MK Dons and West Brom. I think though he'll not come back to League 1.

Not saying she'd be my pick but I wonder how Hope Powell would do in the football league?

I think she'll end up at a club sooner or later.

Wouldn't mind Di Matteo, was previously interested in the recent Coventry job so could drop down a league to get back into management. Roberto has also previously managed in League One with MK Dons and has a West London background which was previously said in this thread.

Seems NF got a good response from the players initially, lot to do with being freed from the previous oppressive regime. However, as soon as they got into pressure situations where expectations were high i.e. against Carlisle and then Swindon, it all fell apart. Now it's seems to be a case of blaming the players but I'm sure they don't set out to play badly. The manager also has to take responsibility and he has shown he doesn't know how to motivate them. Not his fault, very difficult when one minute you're one of the lads and the next you're in charge and laying the law down. Seems to me we're back to square one and a complete change is required.

Have the board named a start date for the manager, i know they say it will be announced in the summer, but when in the summer?, if its not the present set up, its needs to be done very quickly, straight after the end of season.

You were delighted with that. But then you've probably been in the away end at GP most of the time this season.

Moore
Neilson Legge Pim Woodman
Saunders Dave Bean Weston
Grabban Alexander

subs: Carson -Spillane - Byrne - Reed - Osborne -Schlupp - O'Connor

Considering your team was different (allowing for Alexander's injury) to be a hypocrit in the updates thread and say he got it exactly right when your original team was different.

Everyone keeps talking about MB's cash, but as far as I understand his commitment is 500K a year to enable the club to keep going, nowhere have I seen any mention of extra funds for transfers.

There's alot on here, if only the search function worked , about MB's commitments.

It was initially stated that £1 million a year would be funding BFC for a better player budget and to cover any club losses, with a maximum up to £5 million in total. Which MB agreed to take in preferential shares if the society Bees United couldn't repay his "loans" in full at a certain date (2014?) But it's also been stated (on here but not officially) that the clubs budget was doubled from last seasons £1.8 mill to circa £3.6 mill this season. So a large sum was added to AS's playing budget which is why a large hole has been made into that £5 mill figure. This is why a few of us were getting upset that a good chance has been pissed up the wall through AS's player purchases.

I'm sure I'll be corrected :D

Not forgetting Matthew Benham's commitment to the Youth Academy set up. Guessing circa £1 million a year. Out if his own pocket as it were.
