Post your seat number in the "volunteers needed to work at the ground" thread and I'm sure someone from here will give it a spit and polish. :D

Go to the first friendly, strap a sponge to your jeans, sit down and then squirm around all game like you've got piles. That should sort it. :sorted:

Better still as it's a friendly it won't be 'your' seat yet, so get talking to someone on the way in & 'guide' them to the seat & keep them distracted with humourous banter (or something) until they've sat down then keep nudging them in the ribs to point out interesting things in the game ("Ooh look he's kicked the ball" etc.) causing them to squirm around thereby cleaning the seat. :sorted:

p.s. A quick squirt of 'Mr. Muscle Guano Remover' just before they sit down will probably help.

:D

Re: Waiting patiently

I also got wind of this fantastic news yesterday..
So we are not a 'Supporters Run Club' anymore then?

Roy King..another trusted and put in a position by Noades..

The whole thing stinks.. I need a statement from Bees United as to what the hell is going on?

I also have a horrible feeling about someone else too but have not the bottle to put it here in fear of a lynch mob attack on me!
Lets say it stinks a bit of a David Webb situation..

Today is another sad day in the life of all those who have fought for a 'Supporters' Run club..

I will be discussing with Ricko as to what to do with the paltry sum of money our fanzine donates each season, because it will not be for Roy King to have and use and further line Uncle Ron's pockets....

Got the wind of this yesterday too - both Russell and myself left cryptic clues to those that were demanding answers. You are right Greenholme, the decision does question whether we are supporter's run club or not. I don't recall Roy King being a director at Charlton, do you? I would have thought Jerry Cotter, given his experience, would have stood a better chance at that role. But we all know who is making these decisions...

I'm still waiting for Larry to point out where Krakatoa is?

Re: Waiting patiently

Is Ron Noades via Eddie Rodgers behind this decision?

Why did BU agree to it?

Why were the BU Board not consulted?

Can BU really now, even attempt, to say that they are in management control of BFC, when the day to day decisions are made by Roy King and not the BFC Exec made up of BU nominated directors.?

Can we know who voted in favour of this decision on the BFC Board?

Is this a missed opportunity to bring in a individual with no BFC baggage or accusations, to start to turn the company around and to unite all behind BU?

Is Roy King the only candidate approached?

How much extra is Roy King going to be paid? I though we were trying to reduce our operating costs, can`t see how this decision will produce business benefits to finance salary increase.

Why did the BFC Board not consider advertising the post or appealing for suitable candidates to apply?

Will JM continue to be paid £18k a year by BFC or will JM receive a salary increase?

If now BFC has a part-time Finance Director (S Callen), why does BFC also need a full-time club accountant on a years notice?

Does BFC think this decision will please fans and encourage them to volunteer to work with BFC?

Did Roy King produce a detailed presentation or business plan for how he intends to move the company forward? This is not to be confused with implementing the major decisions made by the monthly BFC Board Meetings.

The "Executive Committee" has only 2 members: JM & SC.

The BFC Exec`s job is to implement the strategy of the BFC board.

Ace - if the job was advertised externally would that not have meant another (fairly hefty) salary to the payroll ?

Re: Waiting patiently

So we have:
A board
An Executive Committee
A general manager
A non executive chairman (who fires the team manager)

Just who does run the club?

Re: Waiting patiently

Thanks PJ.

I must admit I thought AW was on the BFC Exec, but it can be a bit confusing.

For the life of me I can`t think of a worse person to be the new General Manager at BFC. Does Roys CV really justify this appointment or is it pressure from ER and Altonwood?

PS: Sadly until we somehow rid us off Altonwood, we will be implementing the policies of the BFC Board and not BU.

Re: Waiting patiently

Does the executive committee exist anymore?

Backroom Changes (Merged Threads)

Re: Waiting patiently

To my understanding there is no such thing as an Executive Committee.

The Club has two Executive Directors (JM and SC) who implement the policies as laid down by the BFC Board.

Re: Waiting patiently

Roy King is the biggest waste of space this club has ever seen.

Everytime a big game comes up,he proves this with his general incompetence. He had several died in the wool Bees chucked out for "swearing" last year (including myself, who's crime had been to join in with a whole stand singing "number, number, number X),then has a go at us publically (official website if i remember)for not attending a meeting that I had heard nothing about.

More fantastic work Brentford,a whole summer of positive PR and getting the fans united, ruined in the space of an afternoon.

Stedders do you agree with this appointment of Roy King to BFC General Manager?

Did you not think like PJ and myself that ER was just to be a lemon slicer and have no major role within the boardroom?

Re: Waiting patiently

Luton - I now think that somehow ER has become the most powerful person at BFC apart from Noades and this when he is non-executive.

BU are simply keeping the club out of administration and at GP, but the policies of BFC are controlled by ER and the BFC Board - shouldn`t be but is. Purely how I perceive it and I could be wrong.

For me personally what should happen is the BFC policies and plans should be agreed by the BU Board and then ratified by the BFC Board. If the BFC Board try and object they are outvoted.

Only if you chose to pay one PJ. When JM got the job he was the only applicant, not that anyone outside of a select few were aware such a vacancy existed until the deed was done. So what happens just over a year later? RK is the only applicant and gets the job. I suppose it makes the interviewing process easy when those responsible (sic) peer into the waiting room and see just the one body, quivering in anticipation, wondering how hot a grilling he's gonna get when in reality it's little more than "Ah, you'll do mate". Of course we must trust the decision to make this change and appointment and give RK all the support he deserves. I just think there may have been some others equally capable to do the job but hey, let's not go there.

By the way, if JM has released all his GM duties, how many more hours work does that give RK? Has his pay rise and overtime been factored into the budget?

Owned by the fans, run by the fans? MY AR$E

Re: Waiting patiently

PJ - Adverising costs nothing. The applicant could be asked to produce a business case and projections to justify his/her salary. The dream would be you get someone in on £50k and their business contacts bring in £100k in commercial activities. But the key point is you are not committed to anything - you could even get a retiring CEO who wants to volunteer.

Roy is already on a good salary with a car, how much extra is this costing BFC £5k? - £10k? - £15k?, possibly all the bucket monies.

Everytime we start moving forward BFC & BU manage to cock it up by ignoring democracy and treating us fans with contempt.

I can`t say anymore, but see if you can find someone apart from the BFC Exec, ER and MA who have a good word for the ex- Altonwood Management Team Member.

I think the only time that BU will start to listen is when the SOs start dropping and NO ONE wants BU to fail except Noades.

Playing devil's advocate here, but nobody expected Martin Allen to advertise for his backroom staff - he is free to make the appointments he thinks best. Maybe the BU reps on the BFC board have done the same with the front office...

Are you implying that the "strategy" laid down was to appoint Roy King to a particular position? If not then the decision must have been made by JM & SC - correct?

Surely our non-executive chairman wouldn't be involved in the details.

The BU Board

Do the BU nominated BFC Directors represent the BU Board (who represent the BU Members)? Therefore if yes, with regards to major decisions like the appointment of a BFC General Manager should they not be consulted and a vote held. They should then go to the BFC Board and force these policies view by greater boardroom votes.

Therefore if no, what power does the BU Board actually have?

If I was on the BU Board I would have tried everything to block this appointment and would demand greater democracy.

What do you think?

Am I missing the whole point of the BU Board?

Are they the lemon slicers and ER the driving force behind BFC?

Don`t get me wrong, I have a lot of time for all the BU volunteers, I just don`t see the lack of democracy as helpfull.

Re: The BU Board

The reality of our position would appear to be that Altonwood have put us in a Catch-22. We can't threaten to pull our financial support because the club would go into admistration and Ron could then sell the ground.

BU have done an excellent job of putting through cost-cutting measures in order to run the club within it's financial remits (despite one or two high profile 'PR disasters') so to reward Bees United they appoint Mr. King, MD. A man whose work so far has been a less than magnificent success.

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHY THIS WAS CONSIDERED A GOOD IDEA?

Who agreed this and why?

Who actually runs the club?

Are we going to get a statement from Mr. King (or anyone) that explains this decision?

Why does anyone bother? Just when the club seemed to be going in the right direction and there was an air of positivity about the place they go and make this mysterious decision. :Fans on the board, is this over-rated smilie:

From the PR does anybody know whether Stephen Callen will now be receiving a salary or is it still voluntary?
