An annual Christmas ritual for me for the QPR calendars at the stall in the Chimes in Uxbridge. I normally hide them behind the Peter Andre calendars.

If someone were to relocate the book ‘Fulham: Match Of My Life: Fifteen Stars Relive Their Greatest Games‘ by Michael Heatley to the Gay Fiction section of Waterstones at the Bentalls Centre in Kingston, say, two Saturdays ago would that be deemed inappropriate? Asking for a friend, obviously.

Yep you definitely want something near the ground as a minimum requirement.

As for places like Hounslow, in all seriousness having a dedicated retail unit would probably be a bit overkill. Some clever advertising might be good though? Getting home shirts stocked in the local Sports shops as well? I remember we did that once back in the L1 days.

Yeah, something near the ground should suffice IMO.

I agree, I think you’d be surprised how few of our fans live in and around Hounslow nowadays.

I was in a independent sport shop in Ruislip recently, they had mainly QPR kits out of the local teams. Bees glasses & mugs etc but that was it.

The bloke that runs that is a QPR fan that drinks in my local. Had a lot of banter with him over the years. He says they are not allowed to sell Brentford replica kits when I asked why he had none on display 2 or 3 years ago.

Even their carrier bags have QPR’s badge on them!
Last time I was in there to buy something for my son, I told the bloke to keep the bag as I couldn’t be seen walking down the road carrying it!

Would never even go in there as they have QPR kits in the windows

One of the reasons I dont buy replica kits is cos I dont want to be a walking advertising hoarding. If you could buy non sponsor shirts I would have bought the grey one last year and the white one this time. I did buy the blue anniversary shirt

I'd like this to be an option on the new shop, I am sure they would shift more (at least 2!). I spoke to some hammers fans, this is an option on their club shop. I checked on their website, the unsponsored shirts are the same price. (Yes I did have to use Virsus software after doing that!)

Their kits are also Umbro so must be an option.

Would only be possible if the sponsor agrees to this as for them it is more advertising.

Yeah I get that, but does it really make that much difference having another club shirt in Tesco. The sponsorhip benefit in the Prem is all about the TV. Hammers are also sponsored by a betting company, so it is possible.

As well as the ra ra kits in the window they have some ra ra mugs inside the shop. They're not for sale, they're the owners.

Is it still opening sometime week commencing the 9th October?

Bees Superstore

Opening for the Chelsea game, I think mate.
They've asked me to cut the ribbon but I'll be busy drinking cheap lager on Kew Green.
I would have thought it would be good to open on a non-match day first - iron out any wrinkles. Also I assume the old shop will close a day or two before to allow transfer of (albeit limited) stock.

I think it will only take 20 minutes to fill the back of Cliff's Jag with the 2 bobble hats, 12 mugs and 6 xxxxxl 2019 away shirts that remain in the old club shop.

Half hour and a carrier bag on the 65 should suffice.

I agree. I'd buy more replica shirts if they came without the betting sponsorship. Does anyone know if the womans shirts are a different cut, as they come without sponsorship I believe.

Surprises me that this is actually an issue for people.

Not trying to stir anything up here btw.

The women's shirt are a different cut .... & it's the junior shirt that show Utilita as sponsors

Different cut yes but still with the same sponsor as the men's shirts.

I would also be more inclined to buy a replica shirt if we had a non gambling sponsor. Mind you if I buy one this year it'll be the first time for 20 years so I am not exactly a regular customer. Would have liked a Utilita white shirt (ie last years) with the PL badges (ie this years) but alas. Given my interest in getting a PL shirt I will probably suck it up this year but I do hope they ban gambling sponsors in time for another nice kit next year.

I do totally understand this POV and it’s one I would probably usually share, but, how do you square that with where the money came from for the current squad and the new stadium? Appreciate it’s not “like for like” but it’s the same industry.

Not at all though I hope your friend washed their hands thoroughly as we wouldn’t want to catch anything from handling such an item

Quite true but while we are in the Premier League, Matthew Benham won’t have to put in a single penny.

I suppose the simplest way to square it is that there is a real possibility that they’re going to ban gambling sponsorship, but nobody is looking at banning owners that got their wealth through the gambling industry. It’s the same industry, but it’s not like for like - as you say.

Surely the cookery section would be more appropriate as their greatest games would be when the best Victoria sponges were served instead of half time oranges.

Ha, I done the same thing. The poor bloke had just thrown some bratty school kids out of his shop and was a bit stressed as he started to put my items into a qpr carrier bag.
I said hold on mate I can’t have that bag I’m a Brentford fan, to which he sighed loudly and replied “does it really matter” I said of course it does, told him to keep his bag I’d carry the items instead.
I left with him slowly shaking his head.

My answer would have been yes it does matter and as you have asked whether it does or does not why did you put the badge on there in the first place?

Normally an uncomfortable silence follows as no answer is offered.

I'm in the same boat, I even had the yellow shirt hanger in my hand at the shop but due to personal beliefs just couldn't buy it due to a gambling sponsor so went with a few t shirts instead.

For me its not the fact its a gambling company, I just dont want to walk around with an advert on my chest. I would happily walk around tiwht the white shirt on holiday as a tshirt, not gonna do that with Hollywood Bets or Vodafone or Carlsberg on my chest
