Boxing not my sport, and know little of it. However yesterday this caught my eye.
As it was the anniversary of Dr Who’s first episode yesterday… I saw this on-line yesterday of Radio Times for that day in 1963.
What caught my eye was in the afternoons Grandstand was Amateur Boxing at the LT Works Chiswick. Wondered if anyone know if that was a regular thing?

Joshua only 1/8 to beat Paul. I've seen professional fights live on Sky with boxers as short as 1/20.

Joshua should be 1/1000

Terence Crawford retires - hope he stays retired rather than tarnish his legendary status.

Probably the greatest boxer of the past 20 years - a modern day Mayweather, 5 weight world champion, 3 weight undisputed and undefeated.

Contrast all that with a great fight tonight on BBC3 (of all places!)
Congratulations to Troy Williamson on becoming British, Commonwealth and European Super Middleweight champion. Stopped the previously unbeaten Callum Simpson, after 4 knockdowns in the 10th..

Blimey not good - might put his fight with Fury back a bit (if it was ever happening).

Physically not an issue but mentally it could take a while to deal with.

The videos are absolutely horrible..... I genuinely can't believe he left the car alive. Unfortunately, his two pals from Watford did not. One of them owns a gym I used to go to in Ruislip called Evolve. Reports suggest the car was overtaking another vehicle at high speed and hit a stationary car on the same side around a bend.

Someone showed me the video and it was horrific and AJ is very lucky to walk away from it, I imagine the others weren't wearing seatbelts

Brilliant win by Smith against a very big puncher. He's always had the talent this lad and perhaps a unification in the future with Adam Azim if Azim can get a world title belt.

I'm no Eddie Hearn fan boy but I do feel a little sorry for him with this Conor Benn joining Zuffa stuff.... I hope the little daddy's boy finally gets thrown under the bus and Hearn releases the PED's evidence 😂

It would also be weird if everyone just completely ignored anything that happens, or is going to happen, because they don't like it, or or aren't interested in watching it!
Let's all go into ostrich mode the next time the super-league comes around!

11 years since the first fight and they were shells of what they used to be even back then.

I suppose Mayweather has to pay for all those Las Vegas strippers and his Christmas cracker jewellery somehow.

Uysk to defend against a kickboxing champion - who sanctions these fights? Boxing is becoming a laughing stock with these 'fights' - the heavyweight world champion is the figurehead of the sport and he takes this instead of fighting his mandatory 😡

I concur. All about the money and not really putting on fights that are worth their salt. Love the sport but is starting to tire me out.
