I think its unfair to just look at the goal ratio of a centre forward without looking at their overall play. So many managers have paid large sums for Marcus that he must add something to a team.
What that is, is the ability to play alone up front, hold play up and wait for the midfield to join up with him. That is also the reason he is a substitute so often as he can win games by the way he defends from the front.
centre forwards that do both jobs well are a rareity, Marcus will never score 20 plus a season but he will add something to a team that is depsparate not to lose more than they win.

Ok, getting bored now waiting for this imminent striker to appear..it is now Tuesday afternoon....all we are treated to is KOC's thoughts about the 2nd half of last year :nono: , we know what happened we were there, we saw everything, we don't need you KOC to remind us of our terrible season so far, thanks very much!:(:D

That has nothing at all to do with signing a striker. Do you think the OS should stop normal business until Scott signs a forward?

Agree, both were more wide players when with they started with us not traditional centre forwards, We need to produce through teh ranks a Bobby Taylor, Ben B even a Ben May!!

See my reasoning behind this. Young youth centre forwards usually not strong enough at 18 even though as footballers they are god enough, so they tend to start in games as wide players.
There will always be a few exceptions, such as May.

We must be signing a couple of players tomorrow, otherwise they might not meet the team until Saturday Lunchtime just before the game. Somebody must have an idea of who Scott trying to get. We are still waiting for these premiership players he had lined up before xmas.:confused: :confused:

Ok they are this and are that, but they will always pop up with goals, and if their goals kept us up, i gurantee you wouldnt call him a ****.

At end of the day i just want to see Brentford FC survive in this league, and whatever players can help do that then great !

4 goal in the last 12 league games and our manager still hasn't brought a Centre Forward to the club, with a game we must win only 2 training days away. The manager has been in total charge for about a month now, I know he couldn't sign anybody before the 1st Jan, but I would have hoped he would have been contacting all he sources well before then trying to bring a player in on loan. It's ten days into January and still no sign of a Centre Forward.

i dont think u no what u are talking about mate bent has scored his fare share of goals since leaving and thegoals he scored for us were importent 1's plus when he was with s he was not vey strong which he improved and put on some more wait which has made him a success

couldn't agree with your post more. i have been by my pc most of the day and nothing has happened, except for some mega boring sh*te from the OS.
Would be nice if we knew what was going on regarding enquiries etc .I know names can't be mentioned at this stage but is Fitz talking to anyone at all?

not to mention the premiership youngsters,
the goalkeeper situation and the other
two outfield players the manager said would be coming this week

i'm sure fitz is on top of things but orient really is the biggest of six
pointers and anything less than a win is unthinkable

What would we prefer - any old striker or the right one? It's a competitive market and I for one would rather we wait for a decent player rather than a Fola or a Winegum.

Probably wouldnt sell him for less than £750,000

Same as Nathan Tyson. If you are chasing promotion and have a striker in great from you dont let him go for penauts unless your club name is Brentford !


If you sell for piss nothing then whats the point ? Need striker to get promoted so not going to sell on the cheap side.

Same situation with Freddy Eastwood - Southend need him to survive relegation and have put a £4M price-tag on him. The way to do it :sorted:

Eastwood is a strange one, unless West Ham come in for him, he won't go anywhere, likes his little Pikey village too much, decision for him will come when he finds himself in League 1 again next season

i was hoping that with ROB's winning bet money (see the long long drawn out kitchen refurb thread)............which he thinks he's won hands down................that ROB will donate the £20k for us to get his mates mate mate Neil Shipperley on loan.....................it'll add a 1000 or so to the gate.............................any news Mr ROB..............??

Think you will find one of the reasons West Ham got rid of him was because of his family. It will also likely put off any buyer, when they realise who comes to watch his every game.

I have just switched on SSN and the info at the bottom say this club and that club have signed this striker and that striker etc. It's not like they are wonderful teams either,Championship club players signing for League 2 sides near the bottom of the league and other league players signing for non league teams!! What is it with us???
Don't these strikers realise that if they came to us and got the goals ( which they obviously think they are capable of doing as they wouldn't be playing ) they would be hailed heroes and worshipped by the Brentford faithful??? :D

....the problem as I see it Les, is pretty much a direct comparison of pre-season........we didn't get a manager until late in the day, and by the time he'd had a look at what was left of the BFC squad from last season, he was left scratching around for cast offs that no-one wanted, other than a very desperate football club............I see the same thing happening here, when come the 28th/29th January, we'll just go for whoever hasn't already been signed up by someone else............

perhaps Jim Levack would care to pass on to Scott Fitz the details of the Premiership players that he was referring to in an earlier post (? maybe elsewhere on the GPG)?................



perhaps we should ask Coventry if we can have Jay back for the rest of the season, I'm sure he'd love the opportunity of regular first team football, and it is his 'home' after all.............he might put another 1000 or so on the gate (and get us closer to budget), he might waive some of his wages, assuming Coventry insisted we paid all or most of them.....if you don't ask, you don't get...............just another thought
