Hi performance has definitely slightly dipped in the past couple of games .Obviously the Fulham error, but completely missed a cross he came for at Everton which Michael Keane headed wide, and also pushed a crossed ball right into the middle of the danger area that we were fortunate not to be punished from

I still wouldnt swap him for anyone else though

The Southampton keeper Bazunu is one we should be looking at. If / when they go down, which I think is inevitable. A real prospect.

He is only 20 months older than Matthew Cox! The fact that he has played 26 games for Southhampton may be one of the reasons why they are a favourite for relegation.

He’s not the reason they are favourites for relegation. He’s very highly regarded by their coaching staff. Just a thought that he might be a good acquisition ?

David Raya

Don't the Southampton fans all hate Bazunu, and think he's the worst keeper in the division?

A bit like Ben Mee at Burnley when they went down?

David Raya

He may be highly regarded by the coaching staff but he's definitely not highly regarded by their supporters.
A 21 year old keeper with >100 league appearances and in his first PL season is a decent prospect. Is he really the reason they’re bottom? I doubt it. Haven’t seen enough of him but worth consideration. Ramsdale at 22 had kept goal for two PL relegation campaigns for two teams but has done pretty decently for Arsenal since! Also, being Irish, no work permit issues. I think they’ll make a decent profit on his £12.5m fee if they sell.

I know he was at Portsmouth last season, they rated him but said he was incredibly raw and capable of howlers at times.
The one Southampton fan I know reckons he has been left exposed by a terrible defence but he has also had an error ridden season so far, he did text me to say he was phenomenal yesterday

Tottenham want to sign England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford this summer, even though the 29-year-old has just signed a new long-term contract at Everton. (Sun)
Good, one less destination for David
Unless he's got rocks in his head that nice new contract will have a relegation release clause in it, so yes it must still be feasible that he'll move.

Shame about the header going wide, goalkeepers even getting half a chance to score is as rare as hen's teeth.... would have been one to tell the grandkids about.
Amazed the header seemed to go straight to him, keepers surely come up to try and pounce on a loose ball and for nuisance value as an extra body in the box rather than to be the target of the corner?! Ah well. He was unmarked at least!

Hoping he can join the illustrious list of premier League keepers who have scored before he leaves us. That header could have easily gone in.

We already knew he had rocks in his head mate !

Everton are doing the same as we would, protecting their future earnings by getting him to sign a new contract. They showed faith in him and developed into the National keeper and know he is capable of better than a relegation fighting side so no doubt negotiated an agreement that gives him more money now but guarantees them a lot more money when he leaves in the next window.

Interesting piece about Bazunu in the Athletic. Breaking down what Bazunu is doing right and where he needs to improve

From this it sounds like his ability both long and short with the ball at feet is very well suited to our style and use of Raya for whom these are obviously major strengths. Shot stopping and crosses are areas Raya had to develop earlier in his time with us so I wouldn’t be too concerned about him not doing so well at either in his first PL season at a bad defensive team. If we aren’t sold on Strakosha as a starter next season for any reason I can see a good case for Bazunu even if expensive given his age and limited need for any change in our play style.

Interesting piece in The Times, which suggests that Luis Enrique may go to Spurs. In which case, I would have thought that if David Raya does leave, that would be a likely destination given Enrique called him up for Spain

Mendy isn't getting to play any time soon, however my guess is we wouldn't pay his wages and rightly so. Out of interest how does it feel making your first post after 2 years? Interesting first post :)
I often use twitter and forgot my login - forums arent really my thing

Raya has shirt number 23 tonight against Norway, while Robert Sánchez has 13 and Kepa starts. Suggests that he's 3rd in line tonight, and that's with Unai Simón injured.

Or maybe number 23 is an act of solidarity with Toney.

Sanchez isn’t even getting picked by Brighton

He’s usually listed on team sheets as the first name on the bench which would suggest he’s ahead of Sanchez

My MoM too. So many saves. Impeccable handling. Kept us in the game against a team that had the run of the park.
We didn't play badly, but Brighton were playing at the top of their form. If we don't make it to a European slot, I'd rather it went to Brighton.

David Raya

You can see by today performance why he's worth 30M +.
Conceded 3 but still my mom by a country mile. ??????

David Raya

This fella is going to take some replacing, isn’t he? They reckon they have the best two keepers in the world at City and Liverpool, but I’d say Raya is better, and a more complete keeper.

Shame he can’t save a pen. ??
Looks like he played a blinder.
Interested to know if he has ever saved a penalty for us?

David Raya

If only he could save pens. I'm more confident of him scoring one than saving one! Has Ivan just destroyed him in training?
