FC Midtjylland

FC Midtjylland

Will be on the pitch at ht today

Whilst I appreciate that there is a 'link' between our clubs, what really is the purpose of the FCM players being paraded on the pitch at half-time? It makes no sense at all and seems ill thought out. I just don't get it.

Perhaps PG asking a couple of players some questions about how they perceive the FA Cup or something along those lines would at least be an attempt to make a connection with BFC should there be further visits. At the moment though, to the vast majority of fans with little to no knowledge of FCM players, it's just a rabble of blokes walking around the pitch awkwardly clapping at us when we'd rather just watch a centre circle challenge or something.

Should be banned from GP, as the last time they came we list to Ipswich.

At that Boxing Day game people who were sat around me were asking who they were.

FC Midtjylland

...........no club suit and ties then..........

FC Midtjylland

I loved it. Today was all about another team. What a load of b***ocks.

FC Midtjylland

I hope they beat Man U (because I hate them and always have), other than that I couldn't care a less about them.

I'm surprised our Chairman wasn't wearing a half and half scarf!

FC Midtjylland

Do we need to give another team a round of applause at half time? All a bit weird to me.

FC Midtjylland

I understand the common denominator here is Matthew, but realistically I'm hazarding a good guess and reckon less than 5% of Brentford fans really care about what goes on in Denmark.

Apart from Montell Moore having a loan spell out there has being no bonding of brothers here.

I'm all for development but I can just imagine the reaction from our players if we asked someone like Alan Judge to pop over to Denmark late Feb one Sunday evening at one of their matches to wave at their crowd.

It looks forced and quite frankly awkward like meeting your long lost cousins from uncles and aunts you hardly see.

Most of us in New Road wondered who they were and why the sprinklers weren't on! Forgive us if we have a vaguely passing interest but it's Brentford and only Brentford for the majority.

Totally agree Mick, when they walked on the pitch, I assumed that they some local Sunday football team who were to be given an award for raising money for the local community.

FC Midtjylland

couldnt give a flying f about em..........we come to see brentford, not some team from denmark.......mb, please get the message that we dont care and never will........things like this do my head in and its hardly good for our team losing at half time against lower oppo to see another team parading around gp..........crap

FC Midtjylland

Only the start once we join the elite league there will be all types of teams being paraded around Lionel road. Micheal Jackson at Fulham, rocky at Everton ??, NFL teams and the like load of old pony!!!

FC Midtjylland

I am not very bothered.
But it almost seems to show a collective lack of emotional intelligence on behalf of our club's leadership. It isn't going to be popular with many.

FC Midtjylland

Why were they over here (mid-season break??). When do they play Man Utd??……

FC Midtjylland

I really do find the support of this club quite incredible at times, if you don't give a flying f then why bother posting about it and getting so hot under the collar. So they paraded around the ground at half time and stole the chance to see some indifferent kicking of a football into a centre circle. MB owns both clubs and as has been stated in various postings by the club we share various back office resources which allows two historically small teams to both gain a benefit they might not be able to afford or justify individually.

Unless your auditioning for the next series of Grumpy Old Men what is the point of such posts; now give me a minute to grab my tin hat and huncker down

FC Midtjylland

Surely this wasn't good for morale of our team. I know only the subs were on the pitch, but it seemed like the crowd was being introduced to the 'favourite son' and the team Cliff Crown and Rasmussen Ankersen are more interested in. Even if it's true, don't rub it in!

FC Midtjylland

I understand why a lot of our fans have no interest in FCM. What I don't understand is why uninterested people feel the need, and go to the effort to say so.

FC Midtjylland

I take an interest in their results because of the Matthew Benham connection, but this seems to be an ill thought out idea.

FC Midtjylland

I also take an interest in their results due to the MB connection and also went to the Southampton game as it was local and cheap. However, I am not sure of the need to parade them in front of our fans though and what benefits anyone gains. Just seems odd

FC Midtjylland

I was unaware that Cliff Crown played for them last season. He really milked that applause yesterday lol

Isn't that the very point? I would assume that all of us that go to GP have an interest in BFC and the match day experience. I do think it's unusual therefore to feel the need to comment on match day events. I suspect, as a lot of posters have clarified on here, that many BFC fans appreciate what the link is between BFC and FCM and they can choose to take us much or as little interest in it as they choose, but bringing it to match day in the format it was yesterday just seems odd and unnecessary.

It's like 90% of the half time stuff, of no real interest and a filler. Nice to see and hear about Bees legends, care not a jot about any other of MBs interests but surprised some people so anti and upset if honest.

Can't we bring back middle aged men making fools of themselves missing penalties against youth team goalies?

FC Midtjylland

I couldn't give a monkeys about FCM. I wouldn't use the phrases concerning Cliff Crown and FCM that TITS have used on Twitter, but they're pretty spot on, on this one.

What concerns me slightly is which club take priority as far as the DOF's are concerned...?

For instance, a gem of a player is unearthed in the Swedish third division. Rasmus and Phil thinks he's the dog's danglies.... Does he become a Brentford player or an FCM player? There must be a conflict of interest at some point?

This has been answered quite a few times. The decision is on the basis of need and the assumption that both clubs will not have identical needs at the same time.

Like some, I have more than a passing interest in FCM and I went to St Mary's as it is quite easy for me to get to. I really can't see what there is to get my knickers twisted but there are some that just like to have a moan. I don't see a reason to get the knives out.

FC Midtjylland

They sat next to us in the first half. My son, for his sins, not only supports Brentford but also Manchester Utd (no idea why). He was trying to give them death stares without much success. They looked totally disinterested with most of them looking at their phones during the game. Mind you that's no different to the majority of Bees fans there yesterday. ;)

FC Midtjylland

I think a link with another club in another country could work well. Share and reapply ideas and research etc. For this reason I take an interest in FCM as I think their success could benefit us.

However, to parade their players when BFC fans have not been able to see any benefit of what the link up brings us is, and was, a massive error of judgement. It's understandable there may be resentment in the early days of such a partnership when no benefits have been clearly visible. I think as far as fans and marketing are concerned, it is best to let the link up lie for a bit and just let it run in the background. Personally, I'd be happy to see them stuff Van Gaal, Rooney and Co but won't lose any sleep if they don't.

FC Midtjylland

The timing was poor given the rubbish first half performance and score line but it was all a bit of a non event and not worth getting worked up about. Perhaps the club should have been more savvy that some areas of our support really don't like the FCM relationship so would use this as an opportunity to moan. The programmes notes that Alan Hawley was expected on the pitch at HT, I didn't see him. Were FCM just a last minute replacement?

FC Midtjylland

My interest in FCM goes as far as this- I hope they do well because if they don't it might increase, by 0.01%, the chance that MB may think '**** this football lark, I'm off to spend my money on something else', therefore causing BFC a bloody nightmare.

FC Midtjylland

I just wish the club would give the old legends who have served this club so well the same kind of welcome that they gave FCM yesterday. I would have loved to have seen Bliss do a lap of honour and have taken the applause of the New Road & ER, instead of just being a speck in the crowd in the distance. But then again I guess Cliff Clown doesnt know him.

FC Midtjylland

I also wonder the effect of having FCM being treated as honoured guests at GP & being given the honour of being presented to all 3 stands has on our own players. Do you think the likes of Macca, Harlee & Jake welcome them with open arms and say 'just go out there and take the applause from our own supporters'.

I know in my day job, if an equivalent team from elsewhere in the country were presented to our clients, that my team would be absolutely livid.

Is it any wonder we have lost both games when FCM have been given the 'lap of honour'.

Oh and im not uninterested in FCM, I actually cannot stand them. As far as I can see their presence and interests are distracting and has reduced Brentford to be a club run on a part time basis.

Thank you for answering. Surely both clubs want the best available players at the same time, though?

It's official, FCM cost us the FA Cup!

Bliss was on the pitch last home game and Stan Bowles was on the pitch when we played Qpha.It would have been wasted on most of us who have a beer at half time anyway.I find it pretty sad that some of our bitter fans think it's a great way of getting back at Matthew Benham by slagging off FC Midtylland ah well we know what the next Front page of the Kray brothers rag will be about, need a couple more defeats then they will get printing lol

In the interests of fairness, I'm not sure that's the case with the TIT brothers. I don't think they have an agenda with MB - more so with some of the people running the club who have other, part time jobs as well.

As I said earlier, I wouldn't be quite so vitriolic with my comments on Twitter, but I do understand and mostly agree with the point they are trying to make - on this one, anyway.

I am always fair Bob these days, going back over years I've been the biggest protester, critic, verbal abuser of staff at our club going all the way back to the takeover days.I would take on board what you have said except I saw the Twitter abuse aimed at our owners other club last night. The trouble is there seems to be a small majority out there who think it's being radical to appose the current owner and will seek every opportunity to post a snidey dig at a player or manager as soon as we lose a game or a player asks for a transfer. The same people who are just waiting for us to fail so they can say "look we told you so"The same people who still post "this wouldn't have happened under Warbs "The same people who post **** off FCM "The same people you rarely see at away games ( thank **** )but when they do they announce it like a royal visit. We are a heavily subsidised football club who's gates would not pay for most of these players we get to see and yes we will as fans argue about who's any good but these days it's taken further than that.If it was my money I would have said **** em a gone months ago.

Granted Stan did do a lap of honour, but no one else has, and unless your in the Braemar you cant ever see whats going on with various other people on the pitch too. I think the former legend spot is a PR opportunity so badly wasted yet again.

Why would I want to have a go at Matthew Benham? If you read what I wrote, there is nowhere where I have a go at Mr Benham. If he wants to buy them, then thats up to him, doesnt mean I have to support them as well. Im only interested in supporting Brentford FC.

Plus I have never met the writers of the fanzine who are apparently comparable to vicious murderers. It may be hard for you to believe but some supporters can form their own opinions without reading fanzines etc

Just out of interest, where does "I cannot stand them" come from; is your other team FC Copenhagen or were you just raging at the keyboard by the time you got to the end of your post? Personally I can't stand QPR, Fulham and Birmingham City but I am having trouble understanding your issue with FCM. If you want someone to blame for putting the evil eye on the match result, then look no further than The Voice of Braemer who was openly trying to convince a self confessed Jonah to attend on the match preview thread :)
