Maybe a duplicate thread, if so, sorry, but

What was your first ever football match you went to see, doesn't have to be a brentford game.

Playoff semi first leg 94-95 season

However, I was only 9, and don't remember much of it, so my first real game was Brentford 1-1 Blackpool in 1996.

forgot to say my first, it was bees 1-1 peterbrough, cant remember the season bout 9 years ago i think.

The fiorst goal i remembert is craig ravenscroft, and he, was exactly 10 years to the day older than me lol

Aha, Claire - I do believe that that was the game that Gibbo instigated the Bees pre-match huddle. It was definitely a good game.

My first ever football match, sadly, was Chelsea 0-0 Birmingham City 0. An excruciatingly awful bore-draw that left me utterly cold (literally and figuratively) to the local top-flight team.

Perhaps it explains why my first Brentford match (4-1 against Halifax Town) on the Royal Oak, made me an instant convert to the red and white cause!

My first game was a 2-0 win over Exeter at Christmas 1974. We were second or third from bottom of the old 4th Division at the time. Apparently I'd nagged my father to take me for ages, but was bored stiff long before the end (so no change there then).

Its funny how everything about the GP experience as a young child seemed so improbably magical. So much bigger, more glamourous and more exciting than it does as an adult. I was only taken to the odd game here and there in those days and would frequently cry myself to sleep at the age of 6 or 7 all because I hadn't been able to watch us play some bunch of northern cloggers like Workington or Rochdale in a bottom of the 4th division clash............

Brentford v Norwich - League Cup 1968 - lost 2-0.
Next game I went to was QPR v Southampton - Marsh et al - but I wasn't to be converted - what a relief!!

Either 89/90 or 90/91, can't remember the score just that our goaly got sent off and the family stand was in brook road seats

I was back again 2 days later for Bees 1 v Rochdale 1 over 9,000 there for a 4th div game on a monday night.

QPR V Liverpool 1-1 (Mark Falco, John Barnes) late 80s. Forgive me for I sinnethed, was taken as a treat by a QPR-supporting uncle

Bees:
Brentford V Chester 0-1 (no idea who scored but we had a shot cleared off the line and the Chster scorer done a roly-poly in front of the New Road) late 80s football in the community freebie.:cool:

I reckon I was about 7 at the time and cant remeber the result. It was for a friends birthday party.

First Bees game was against Derby in Div 1. We won I think two nill or two one.

Our first home game of the 1986/87 season. I haven't a clue who we were playing. My grandad had to make me a stool to stand on so I could see!!

Brentford vs Bristol Rovers 87/88 season - game finished 1-1 with Paul Williams on loan from Charlton scoring our goal.

However, the match that really got me hooked into Brentford was the home game against Mansfield that season. The game finished 2-2 - there was a massive player bundle in the second half resulting in red cards for Bob Booker and Gary Blissett (I think Blissett instigated it by kicking one of the Mansfield players in the first place) for Brentford, and goalkeeper Kevin Hitchcock and another player for Mansfield. Ex-bees player Keith Cassells ended up in goal for Mansfield and pulled off a fantastic save towards the end of the match.

Actually I was incorrect.

My first football match was Blackburn Rovers 5 - 3 Plymouth Argyle. It turned out to be the day Kenny Daglish joined the club. And David Speedie scored a scorching diving header. It was such a good afternoon that I decided I wanted to go to football again.

My friend Rob took me to Brentford.

And I've never been happy since. rofl rofl rofl rofl

August 62 ( Old bastard) Bees 1 Mansfield 3 I think George Summers scored, but what do I know? The bees won the 4th division championship that season, playing regularly in front of 15,000 gates. Happy days, how times have changed.

My Dad first carted me down there when I was 3 during Easter 1958 for what was considered a crucial game against Torquay United.

Naturally with it being a very important game we managed to lose 1-0 and just missed out on promotion to the old 2nd Division. Some things never change.

Brentford vs Wolverhampton Wanderers, First Division, 18th January 1947. Bees scored twice in the first six minutes and went on to win 4-1. The crowd at Griffin Park was 35,000. Pure magic for a 9-year-old.

Brentford v Colchester, 1968. First match of the season, 4-0 to the Bees on a Saturday night. Hooked ever since, bugger.

Bees 1 Mansfield 0 in late 1964. Think Ian Lawther scored for us and Chic Brodie saved a penalty, but at 8 I was more impressed by the atmosphere than by the details of what happened on the pitch.

I honestly can't remember, I was about 2 or 3 (if that) so it would have been some time in the late 80's (86/87 or thereabouts) The earliest game i can remember is when we beat fulham 4-0 in 91, and I remember my dad saying that I had been to about 20 games by then. He got me going to games from a very young age.(I seem to remember I thought myself a bit of a heavyweight stalwart by that point!) Bloody ell that game against fulham was 13 years ago and feels like yesterday! (sorry to go off track)

Stood in the Braemar Road paddock (towards the Ealing Road)
Dad took me to stiffs first (I was 5) so I got used to the atmosphere and the ground.

Went to Hounslow Town a few times with my dad when I was 10-11 but then saw Bees 1 Rochdale 0, the year we won the old Div 4 in the mid-60s, and it was the most exhilerating afternoon of my young life and I was hooked!

First game was mid-1930's (!!!!!!!!!!!). Highbury, Arsenal versus the Bees. Don't know the score - but we ALWAYS beat Arsenal in those days (wait 'another two seasons Arsene - Martin's "gunning" for you).

I was very young and all I remember is that everyone else shouted for the home team - I shouted for Brentford.

A-a-a-a-argh. I could have been a Gooner.....

Sheffield United 1 - 1 Liverpool at Bramall Lane, Div. 2 match in 1961. The ground was also used for Yorkshire cricket games at that time so there was only three sides for the football - very strange. First Bees game was in January 1962 at GP, 1-1 vs. Leyton Orient in the third round of the FA Cup. I stood next to the railings in the Braemar Paddock, the first of many games to come. We got relegated that year!

Tis sad but however much I rack my brain I can't remember. It was 1966ish, a night game, I was very young but went on my own with some school friends and I deduced we were obviously sh*te even if it was the first game of football I had ever seen.

As others have said it was the atmosphere that got to you rather than the football that and the New Rd terrace seemed soooooo big and awesome.

Some time in 1956 another year only one team went up - Brighton in controversial circumstances. I think it was against Watford, last home game. Dont remember much about the game I was only 8, but I do remember the great atmosphere of expectancy that night and huge crowd!

pa took us along for an end of season game against wigan in 1985. we, of course, lost 3-2. standing in the breamar rd terracing.

First game 1951, can't remember the opponents but I can recollect the half back line, Harper/Greenwood/Hill. I do remember arriving late with my Dad for one of my first games & being passed down the front of the Royal Oak End to peer through the railings!

Are you sure? :suspect: Im getting really worried about your lack of memory old stick :D Trying to dig out the result for you from my 100 years of misery book... but we won in November 85... in front of a bumper 3.5k crowd :bound:

My memory is shot. It probably wasn't Chesterfield but it was someone that played in blue and around 1984.
