Flares
What's a WUM?Yes. Being thrown at people. Hopefully, if you do get run over by a car, the driver will be within the speed limit. Obviously, you're a WUM and I shouldn't bite. But I have.

You've still not answered my question about being run over by a driver who's only just breaking the law. What's a WUM?
It's the noise made by an elephant when it farts. What's a WUM?
Cos this is a football thread about flares. You've still not answered my question about being run over by a driver who's only just breaking the law.
Because you started talking about speed limits. And how you didn't think they should be observed. OK with that?Cos this is a football thread about flares.
Why continue and try and move away off topic?
Sorry, you're a bit like the guy who jumped from a 300 foot building and on the way down thought to himself "290 feet and so far, so good."
When I was eight, a friend and I played a game that involved throwing darts at each other's legs. The one who got closer to the other person won. All went well until, suddenly, he won. I looked down and saw a dart sticking out of my leg.
In other words, things don't lose the potential for danger just because they haven't happened yet.
The fact that it happens a lot in Europe doesn't make it the best thing since sliced bread. The Italians, for example, often prefer to use suppositories when they're under the weather rather than tablets.
My God. Didn't realise there was anyone as mad as me. Your mate was 100% determined to stop you ever walking again. We used to play the dart games as well at my mates house in Field Road, Feltham. One day after taking a dart to the shin, I was rolling on the floor when my mate hit me full whack in the nuts with a cricket bat.
owzat!!We used to play the dart games as well at my mates house in Field Road, Feltham. One day after taking a dart to the shin, I was rolling on the floor when my mate hit me full whack in the nuts with a cricket bat.
....not out sir...was darting down leg side.owzat!!
Yep but he was definitely done by the flight!....not out sir...was darting down leg side.
..... you're saying A Real Mysteron is a 'swinger'.....thought so.....had my suspicions.....not appealing.Yep but he was definitely done by the flight!
At work, when it was quiet, we used to play ‘hepatitis dart’ which involved dropping (Rather than throwing) darts, point first onto someone’s leg. We would measure and increase the distance each time until the recipient bottled out. Think I managed over two metres…We used to play the dart games as well at my mates house in Field Road, Feltham. The smoke bombs inside the ground were pathetic. And added nothing. Their atmosphere without them was special.Utter rubbish.
Anyone who went Goodison will tell you their flares and smoke bombs - both inside and outside the ground - added to the atmosphere. Unless you're blind.
Utter ?. You really are deluded. The place stank! The atmosphere was created by exceptionally noisy fans. The flares/bombs were just an annoyance.Utter rubbish.

Struggle to find a phone box these days. Just ask superman! But anyway totally agree with your sentiment.Utter ?. You really are deluded. The place stank! The atmosphere was created by exceptionally noisy fans. The flares/bombs were just an annoyance.
As I’ve said before, go and stand in a phone box and let one off and revel in your special “atmosphere”. WUM!?
None left in New York, it made the news over here last week.Struggle to find a phone box these days. Just ask superman! But anyway totally agree with your sentiment.
My Dad’s friend used to clean his pipe and then stick the pen knife into his leg to frighten us kids. We didn’t know he’d lost his leg in the war and had a false one.At work, when it was quiet, we used to play ‘hepatitis dart’ which involved dropping (Rather than throwing) darts, point first onto someone’s leg. We would measure and increase the distance each time until the recipient bottled out. Think I managed over two metres…
Yes, we were fully grown adults.
What is there to “dislike”?Two flares were thrown today in the west stand as many must have noticed.
This needs to be curtailed before someone gets hurt.
These things stink and have no place at Brentford!

…………flares and general body hygiene go hand in hand…………I much prefer a tapered or slim fit leg to be honest but seems a bit much to ban people from wearing a pair of Lionels if that's what they like.
Quite.Throwing objects.
Strong measures.
Some strong words of disapproval coming Leeds way from the EPL this season.![]()
The thing with flares is that it’s obvious which set of fans are responsible. They are totally stupid, dangerous and utterly irresponsible. There should be a serious penalty on any club responsible whether at home or away.Quite.
Was any action taken against them for the numerous occasions last season....??
Or need I ask....??....
Mmmm, deep fried asthma.?Lots of flares from the rangers end for a game against livingston... Strange. So much smoke you cant even see the goal, does asthma not exist up north
Agree…The same photo the club endlessly used for years after but wanted to throw out anyone that had a flare or smoke bomb etc …confused.com Bfc alert??The red smoke drifting g across GP the night we beat the scum is still a thing of beauty.
This is why they’re banned:
Don't know how feasible it is to do, but if it were ever to become decriminalised, there are safety precautions.
Safe flarinIf anyone wants to let off flares, could they not be allocated a safe zone away from other supporters to do so ?
Like on the M4 gantry, visible from the stadium.
Would be a decent view up there and would not cause other fans issues.

Imo flares should stay banned inside football stadiums. Too dangerous, simple as.If anyone wants to let off flares, could they not be allocated a safe zone away from other supporters to do so ?

Pyrotechnics are pyrotechnics, whatever their intent, and are classified as explosives.Imo flares should stay banned inside football stadiums. Too dangerous, simple as.
Smoke bombs on the other hand, add even more of a visual accompaniment then flares whilst being much much less dangerous.
If it can be done in a way that there are blocks in the stand where people don’t mind that they’ll be exposed to a bit of smoke, then that’s something to be looked at.
English football is becoming really sanitised and it’s not fun to see. If it’s safe I’m all for it.
