Staying at Current Club Ivan Toney

“Keeping tabs on “ and similar statements mean nothing. Every PL club is “ keeping tabs” on 1000 plus players, 99% of whom they will never buy.

To be a fair I honestly thought CE would be a bit of a “is he really worth it” thing to other clubs and IT would have had the 4000 plus posts of speculation on here, amazed it took CE to be resolved before IT rumours started floating around

I know for a fact Watkins girlfriend wants a move back to London. A friend is painting his house. Who knows if he’d actually leave Villa. Would love to have him back.
I reckon he would come back as well

To London? Yes. Probably to WHU though.

Don’t start this one, he is way out of price range now, we all love him but it’s just silly to to start thinking AV are prepared to let him go at half his market worth and he will half his salary because his girlfriend likes London .

Ivan Toney

We transferred Hogan, Gray, Watkins, Benrahma, and each time we said how are we going to replace those goalscorers.
‘Particularly with the last two, we thought we might have lost our strike force to get us to the PL… and then what happened!!!

If Toney goes, I am sure that the club is already one step ahead of that possibility.
The plan is always rolling forward, not just for the next few games, but for the longer term!

Out there, there is some unknown player, who is scoring goals for fun in some below the radar club, and down the line we’ll all be singing his praises in due course.
Plus, Toney and most of the current squad will not still be here within a relatively short period of time, so it’s just a matter of modern football life.

The club evolves and new players come in to put on the red and white. Some stay for 3 or 4 years, some for just a season.

I‘ve lost count of how many players I’ve seen play for us over the decades. Must be in the many hundreds, probably about 750.
They all left for one reason or another, but the club is still here.

I was more worried when we lost our twin strike force of Towers and Francis, who scored over 250 goals between them!
No one in the modern era comes even close to that!

Whoever our next striker is, he’ll be here for 3 years max, and then be gone.
Some.good points but the difference to the past is we are in the Premier league and unfortunately we are the minions. Getting a goalscoring CF or even attacker is extremely difficult - compare Mitrovic in the Championship to EPL. If you take Mbeumo, The number of chances he misses is unreal. We sit in the West Stand and duck every time he sets himself to shoot even in the warm up. I kinda still like Brian though - that's the problem with Brentford. It's like family.

All the above are great reasons to keep a top class player, but in the real world when man unt offer 50m we all know how it pans out,
I'm not totally convinced about Toney's commitment to the club. Not that he doesn't give 110% every week and all that. I just feel he sees himself at a richer club as a "big time Charlie potatoes" as Ferguson described Paul Ince. If we rejected a £35-40m bid from the top 6 (incl Newcastle) we'd have anotherTarki situation.

Surely most players see themselves at a richer club?

You have made 1 or 2 assumptions in your post with no evidence to back them up. Have a drink and move into the shade.

Ivan Toney

Why to West Ham and not back to us ?
Because we simply are not going to pay £50m for him and however much he loves us he isn’t going to drop £2-3m of wages a year to come. WH need a striker, he’d link back with Said and they could afford him.

If he’s getting his London house repainted it is more likely he’s looking at selling it as he can now afford something much grander than when he was with us.

Of former players out of favour who might be available at cut price Maupay is the most realistic and not a forward step for us compared to who else we might get.

No different to any player if a top club comes calling

Also if he is the big boots type like that there’s kudos in going for big money now rather than being seen as a bargain buy.

Ivan Toney

Are you on a wind up?

Villa paid £33m, so would want at least £50m, probably more, for an England international. And they won't be letting his contract run down.
And that's before we've started on his £100K-£150K a week wages.

Now where have I heard that before ? ?????????????

Ivan Toney

Got our Brentford back...just need Benrama and Watkings and we'll have our BMW back too lol

Ivan Toney

This is probably just talk.

But also a warning that sooner or later a very tempting offer may come in.

Or he may be out for weeks or months with an injury. (Hopefully not!)

As insurance we need to get in our next centre forward bedded -in as it seems as if Forss isn't quite what we hoped for a year or two ago.

Maybe Halil will be our next Watkins? Extremely interesting that he’s gone to Germany and Forss didn’t. A couple of loans, matured a little bit, seems to be happier to be at BFC. Unlikely sure, but the fact he his still involved is very encouraging.

I don't think anyone will stump up £45+ plus so bit of a no goer. But if there are any truth in it, then I'd set a deadline and tell Toney look mate you want to go get it done by X deadline because we're need time to replace and embed new striker.

Or the club just ignores the un-backed-up-by-fact rubbish on this particular site and waits for an actual bid to come in.

That worked well the last time a player we didn’t think we could afford was apparently likely to choose us over more money and a bigger club because his girlfriend liked a West London postcode.

If there’s anything in it we’ll be getting the new striker in anyway ahead of next summer (remember how we tried to buy Toney in the January when we still had Watkins & Benrahma and Wissa in the January when we went up). Assuming the club doesn’t already think it has the next striker in according to their plans. They’re more likely to let this go through to the end of August, particularly if there are multiple interested clubs, than to see him out the door quickly to buy and bed in someone new. I don’t think we’d buy purely reactively and wait to buy and integrate them until Toney goes.

Oh I think it's all rubbish and just gossip. But if there is truth in it we're like always replace with even better so I'm not worried. It's fun watching the choas on here though.

Ivan Toney

Bees would’ve expected all this and I’m sure there’s plans in place
Raya,Noorgard,Toney all vital to us but 50 mil plus buys them,we always replace in advance but has definitely become trickier as we’ve got better see how it pans out and have faith ??

Like every other good player in the world, gives 100% in games but wants to play for the top club. When their time comes it comes.

players are like pebbles on a beach, we don’t need to keep chasing old players to bring back possible old times. Just sell, move on and find the next one, has the last 10 years not taught anyone anything.

Sooner or later? They have been coming in since last season,

I think you are so wrong. 50m for ake…..you think some quad trillionaire I sn’t going to throw some loose change for Toney. We need to get real,

50m each buys them, but the replacements cost 20m each now.

Yep- remember all the “o noes, we’ve lost more than half the goals that took us up from L1 after forever and just have in some numpties from National League Luton and bloody Rochdale, rediculous that we’d throw it al away like this for the sake of a few thousand quid on Donaldson’s wages”.

Maupay being replaced by Ollie coming in from the wing, loads of us thought that was iffy at the time. Until we were proven spectacularly wrong.

Toney is well off leaving at this stage, but I'd wager a few quid on Wissa being the replacement if he did go.

Personally I’d like to see a like for like tall striker brought in as a replacement. Biggest problem when Toney was out was that we had no outlet when clearing our lines
