It was a Toums howler IMO, TC had 2 blokes running at him with a ball over the top coming down, his mates weren't helping him much, I would always play Dean over TC and hoped that Dean had progression in him but have to admit that neither of really good enough for where MB wants to go, Tarks has a chance and that performance was class but Dean or TC are not going to either be around or play much next year.

Agree re-the howler on Saturday - I didn't realise at the time. Also think TC and HD won't play much next year.

James Tarkowski -

Tony has just been given a new contract so it's too early to write him off

James Tarkowski -

The goal was poor from Toums and Craig as they should have dealt with it, but clearly there was no communication at all.

However Tarky did have a blinder, good on him.

James Tarkowski -

Quite agree, but unfortunately for Harlee, the Tarks / Craig pairing performed more than admirably enough on Saturday to be retained for tomorrow IMO.

Agree but the need for an effective partner for Tarks is becoming ever more obvious.

I hear there's a good left-side centre back at Sporting Gijón in Spain... I wonder if we should take a look at him?

I thought it was always obvious but Tarks had a poorish start to the season, he's class but if he's not doing that then IMO he was rightly dropped. The three worst CB performances for me this season have been Hudders away, Ipswich at home and Charlton away, I suppose that speaks in volumes.

I thought the reason he was out of the side was his suspension and the other 2 did OK for a few games ?..... He is without doubt our best CB and possibly the best in the Championship. The other thing is he's not picking up cards, credit due to David Weir's coaching ?

It was more than a few games, TC and HD had a right run together that wobbled in Hudders and crumbled v Ipswich IMO.

I've heard he is a bit of a chicken when it comes to comitting to the tackle.

James Tarkowski -

Mercurial tonight. Class in possession, and timed every header to perfection. What a player.

James Tarkowski -

Too bloody casual and takes horrible risks but also does things that take your breath away. A work in progress but a potential masterpiece

James Tarkowski -

Surprised he got MOM after several kamikaze moments in the first half

James Tarkowski -

Not every one... one went vertically in the second half!

My apologies, he's clearly not quite the perfect article yet (!), but as Alan Hansen used to always tell us on MOTD, headers up in the air much better than those that go straight to ground and give the oppo an immediate chance of a strike.

James Tarkowski -

Disagree. When they realised the threat of our midfield, they overloaded there and pressed hard... James created an extra dimension by carrying the ball into and through midfield. He got us back on the front foot. Risky? Maybe a little at times, but that's what Warbs asks for.

James Tarkowski -

It has done Tarks no favours moving him to the left sided CB berth.

Not looking the part at the moment at all.

I agree but a lot of the mistakes he's currently making are completely self inflicted and a result of being overly casual. That's not good enough and he has the ability to be much better than he was today.

James Tarkowski -

We push high, none of Tarks, Dean or TC can turn and run, oppo mangers are saying clip it over them with runners and we are in trouble, stopping it is the hard part.:(

Agree. We take a risk by pushing high as we do by leaving 3 up when defending corners. Overall it has worked for us. Trouble is at the moment it is not.

I don't personally think the midfield are doing enough to stop the supply either. Case in point being Millwall's first goal. At no point should their player have been allowed to clip that ball to the striker without a Bees player being within 10 yards of him.

We need more bite and nastiness in midfield, sadly lacking any leaders on the park.

Agree with this.

Tarks is a talent but does anyone else think he's looking a bit heavier? I think he's lost half a yard and is a couple of pounds over his fighting wright.

Agree with this but would add Button usually plays the sweeper role brilliantly cutting this tactic out. Unfortunately he's having a little confidence crisis as well and sitting deeper, don't know if you clocked one passage of play in the second half when Tarks was imploring Button to position himself further forward to mop up any balls over the top.

James Tarkowski -

There does feel to be a problem at the centre back position and with goalkeeper but no point in blaming Harlee, Tarks or Button individually rather collective responsibility. They are all good players, none involved in internationals this week. I would like to see them all sitting down together and with management, acknowledging 7 games to go and work out a strategy for improving their collective performance, to get them keyed in and buzzing for Fulham and the remainder of the season.

If you had Tarks and Harlee sitting in front of you at the moment you'd have a confidence crisis. I should imagine he has nightmares the night before a game just thinking about it.

James Tarkowski -

Him and Dean are too slow. Both looked like they were carrying Taylor Fletcher on their backs yesterday when trying to sprint.

Tarky was woeful at times yesterday (as were our whole defence as a unit.) and playing LCB clearly isn't helping us as Tarky hasnt the confidence/ability to open his body out and play down the left channel, everything goes inside (which is usually overcrowded) when playing to Bidwell/Dallas would be the better option.

James Tarkowski -

How did he handle his former team-mate and hero of 27th Jan 2013 Matt Smith?

James Tarkowski -

...........his shimmys and feints were very good..........

James Tarkowski -

Back to his very best today!! As complete a CB performance as you are ever likely to see at this level!

Who?? They only had one bloke woodruff who was noticeably good

Smith seemed to have great difficulty remaining on his feet. Did he have jelly legs?

I take it all back about Smith, he may be an obelisk but he poses a threat, he wins everything in the air and is a handful.

...............but still crap and still wouldn't get anywhere near the Bees team.....,,,,,,,

He's benefitted from coaching.

There was a time he couldn't get near the Oldham team!

James Tarkowski -

Premiership quality display today, all the back 4 did well but James was majestic.

He was brilliant, but... I think the long punt over the top which almost let Smith in before Harlee's excellent intervention was down to James ball watching. That aside though, the whole back four were outstanding IMO, especially with our midfield not doing as well as they can in getting close enough to their opposite numbers in our own third.

James Tarkowski -

Brilliant today.....reminded me of Bobby Moore the way he brought the ball out of defence......my MoM......
