Maybe, sure I remember reading somewhere years ago that he planned to retire from football relatively early and he had various other interests outside of football he planned to get involved with. Might even have been a very old edition of TITS or similar. He will always be one of my favourite footballers as a top bloke, great footballer who made up for his lack in height with his huge heart, massive engine and a knack for scoring important goals. I'd prefer to remember him as a legend rather than a decent squad member which is I suspect all he'd be if he returned now?

First brentford shirt i got had tabby on the back! Loved him but dont think he will be in the championship atall next year unless one of the teams coming up want an experienced championship player and take a punt with him.

He would certainly meet the height criteria for our midfield! Sadly now too old for us but one of my all time favourites.

Yep I remember that too. Think he said he wanted to play in Australia at the end of his career then retire down under.

:sorted: plenty more great performances as well, remember MK Dons when he gave a MOM performance after he went to left back when Myers was sent off.

That's it . Won 2-0 . Barnsley were a bit of a force that season , we turned up and pissed on them. Tabbys goal made it 2 if I remember rightly. Great scenes

Actually the celebrations when he finished off Luton in the last couple of minutes in front of us were pretty mental as well! That was a great away day as well

They were supposed to be unbeatable and remember we signed Ben May in the morning and for about first 30 minutes they were camped in our half.
Hair man and Talbot hit a couple of big tackles and they got upset. Reports that there was trouble in the tunnel at half time when apparently Deon Burton lamped one of them and then MA wound their fans up by returning from the dug out to shake Nelsons hand and various other players and we knew we'd got to them.
Hair man and Tabby with two quality strikes in front of us and their players and fans were far from happy! Brilliant day out.

And Allen last to walk off, applauding along the away end, the home fans spitting venom at him as he got to the tunnel, he stops, flaps his coat back, sticks his hands in his pockets, leans back and smiles at them, away end cheers . They ****in erupted , he still had to get to the tunnel, did he care ? Did he **** ! Pure gold of a moment.

Sol Davis punched Rankin off the ball and cowardly just before ht, Deon was trying to get to him for payback in the tunnel but other and bigger Luton players were getting in the way, Davis stayed in the changing room as Deon was taking on anyone near him, a long haired player told me this so I gave Sol Davis diogs abuse when he came to GP whilst playing for MK, he was sub and warming up right next to me, I was at him for the whole 2nd half and at one point during a goal celebration was face to face with the little sh*t, I wasn't polite and he went and told a steward, the steward asked me to calm it but all around me said Davis was the sh*t in this mess, not quite true but bless em. It was that 3-3 game and they scored in the 93rd to go 3-2 up and we equalised seconds later, he let me know they'd scored and I was basically in their dugout celebrating our goal, he got plod over then and was told to sit down and stop creating a scene, it all started with me telling him he was a cowardly weasel who hid when it kicked off, no need for the aftermath that followed...

that Barnsley one always stuck in my head (as well as the Luton one others are talking about, but that's a bit more obvious) - i was lucky enough to go but went on my tod, a funny day out all round really, and that Tabby goal was just beautiful. it's such a shame that we don't seem to have a good archive of goals like this, though i think the club mentioned recently that they planned to upload some old goals to youtube in the coming months...

...............................Hull at home in the league, last game of the season, Hull already promoted but so wanted to go out with a win, and we put our juniors out for the second half...........................Garfield got one (in his only game for us) and didn't Jay get the winner?.........................happy, happy day

Much more detail and better than my version but was told similar and that Deon was happy to take on all comers as was Jamie Lawrence and the officials ran into the changing room and left them to it!

yep not just second half. lots of guys had their only ever Bees game (and only ever pro appearance?) that day.

Imagine I will get shot down for this-but is there an argument to say he could be worth a short term deal on relatively low wages?
