Have a look at the League Tables, check out which divisions Brentford, Orient and Bournemouth are in and welcome to the real world!

We have to realise that despite several people coming to the club proclaiming that we could be the West Ham of west london, we now are more in line with Barnet, Darlington and probably not as well off as Dag. & Redbridge.

Ed, the point being made above wasnt about league positions but status as a club. No way in a million years are Orient or Bournemouth bigger clubs than Brentford. FACT.
However Huddersfield is a big club, one with which ourselves, Orient and Bournemouth cannot compete - they have a premiership stadium FFS.

The wages factor between ourselves Orient and AFCB is a red herring IMHO - TB has gone on record as saying if JK accepts our offer he will be our best paid player (in other words £100k pa give or take a few quid). I cant see how Orient or AFCB could better that to be honest (although Huddersfield easily could i would have thought).

I personally dont think JK is the most ambitious player in the world (forget who you support - who would you want to play for of the teams mentioned?) and although he has done well for us i`m not gonna lose sleep over him going.

Not convinced he is worth an assumed 100k a year of our (allegedly) paltry budget and personally i only want players at GP who genuinely want to be here (and not just for money which we cant afford).

In this day and age its too much to ask for a squad of players who want to be at GP and are proud to play for our great club. Thats all we want but it aint gonna happen....build next year`s team around Charlie and Karleigh and co. - these lads are emerging talents and wanna be with us - they are proud to wera our shirt.

We should do our best to **** off all the prima donnas, freeloaders and scavengers from GP ASAP, i`m sure TB and AS are doing their best to achieve this. Until this is achieved i`m sure i`m not alone in being completely depressed about everything BFC. The fixture list contains loads of games which resemble FA Cup ties FFS. What we ever did to deserve this crap i`m not sure but i`m sure i`m not the only Bees fan who is totally fecked off

Christ, he's a great player for our level and bear in mind he was at Torquay last season and only came to Brentford because of Leroy, we have to thank the man for that at least, but is he really ready for a leap above L1? Don't think so. He would do better for his career to think a tiny bit more long term (like Charlie Ide has done) and get more experience at this level before attempting to just up to the Championship and I don't really think he's capable right now of making the jump like DJ did. Perhaps in a season or two... hopefully those seasons would be with us. Fact is, if it was a DJ situation and someone like Birmingham City were sniffing around with lots of cash, he'd have gone ages ago. As it is, he probably hasn't made a decision yet because he's seriously considering the loyalty and possibility of making more of a name for himself with Brentford, as he knows full well the predicament that the club's in for transfers, so he's likely to get starts in all games that he's fit for. Lots of goals against L2 opposition could put him more in the spotlight, whereas a move to an L1 club could end up with him going into a fairly established squad, warming the bench and being an 80th minute desperation sub to fall back on.

I am confused (as normal). As Charlie Ide has signed on long term why is TB considering paying a kings ransom to keep Kuffour? I don't see how we can fit them into the same team unless one plays as a winger - which is not the best position for either of them.

good post. the thing is with these 2 players neither is a big target man are they

I think it's a bit unfair to expect Ide to play every game this season - he's only a kid. If Kuffour signs, I would expect Ide to either play wide or be a regular sub.

I agree, but Id rather have a proper winger.Id play Joe for 1/2 to 3/4 of the game, and when the big burly cente backs are tired of a small fast forward running at them, take Joe off and bring on Charlie who is a fast forward with fresh legs who is going to run at them:sorted:

Jo is 26 so I think he's in a slightly different situation then Ide. Kuffour proved himself last season in League 1 for me and I understand why moving to a League 1 club be more of a benefit then going back down to League 2. He's at his peak and probably needs to be playing at the highest level he can, that's what the delay is all about. The next contract for him is the peak of his career possibly. I'm not really sure how staying with Brentford would be good for his career to be honest.

It will be because in 5 years time (max) Brentford will be premiership champions and will beat AC Milan in a Champions league final! That why hes weighing up his options:fishing:

Jo Kuffour

Whats all this nonesense about playing Ide for a part of the game.
He should be up front, full stop.
TB should tell him to get on the end of the crosses by attacking the box and looking for that ball in.
He's also got a good dig on him.So come on Charlie,if you're good enough, you're old enough. :sorted:

Jo Kuffour

Jo Kuffour will sign for the club that offers him the most money, regardless of how big they are or how we view them. There is no loyalty in such a small career.

Some people need to get a grip on his thread. If he goes to Orient, so what? He's gone.

Sorry, Don't want to be paying a player £100K to play for 3/4 of a game every week in 4th division and don't want the player with most potential coming on in last few minutes.

Charlie must start up front, if Joe hasn't gone by then he obviously starts but it's unlikely to be an issue

Spot on. Reality checks by many required. :sorted:
Kuffour this year, someone else next year, that is what makes the lower 2 leagues a bit more interesting in my mind. You just never know what to expect from one season to the next.

See the responce from PJ..

I've accepted JK is gone, I've not got a problem with him wanting to better himself.

I'd personally find it a little easier to accept if he were to join a ''bigger club'' than ourselves, Regardless of the division they are in....

Ok,so Joes scored one, possibly two.MA would sit on this lead,we can now bring on the SQUIREL ,release him on to the knackered defence and win by 4 nil! Hurrah! Would you rather pay a player £50k and he scores one in 6 but plays 90 mins every game?

Any way I dont think Charlies up to full season with out decent back up.

Is there enough room for a 45,000 seater at Lionel Road then? Is this the cause of the delay?

And erm... for those saying we already have a small man up front so who needs Jo... remember the exact point when last season went downhill? We picked up 6 injuries and essentially lost half of the first team and it spiralled from there. What happens if the squirrel gets injured? You can't bank on playing your best 11 every match. Especially not with Kicky Karleigh around ;) :fishing:

You make out that it is no big deal, however the inability to re-sign Jo will almost certainly mean we have no chance of bouncing back with promotion.

Ide + striker picked up on free = mediocrity

Surely that depends on the striker picked up on a free? Afterall Jo was a free, and so was Burton, yet Willock cost us £50K.

Bournmouth announcing 1st signing at 1800 press conference  :(

"As we reported yesterday, the Sunday People claimed that the 41-year-old is Bournemouth bound and about to sign for the Cherries.

But Bond has since told the Echo: "I haven't spoken to Teddy. He is a player I've worked with before and somebody I've got the utmost respect for.

"Like everybody else, I have read that Teddy has stated that he wants to continue playing and so he should because he can still play, he wants to play and has the desire to play."

Hope fully this is what their announcing!!!

Jo Kuffour

Its his level no higher ...IMO.

Bournemouth won't do anything special next season in fact i will wager that Mr Kuffour may be invloved in a relegation battle again.

Jo Kuffour

I don`t think Kuffour is worth a £100,000 a year at BFC. Maybe at a club with a bigger budget, but not a club that is only trading due to supporters donations.

Where did £100k come from?
I'm assuming Terry was hoping to offload the higher earners therefore making Jo the highest earner. I doubt he meant he would be earning more than the deadwood we were carrying last season (or I hope not)

OK if he gets rid of Heywood, Frampton, Brooker & O`Connor he could be theoretically on £50 -60k, but it ain`t likely is it?

Jo Kuffour

JUDAS!

as stated before i dont think he is as good as all on here make out

Jo Kuffour

Good of him to make a decision so quickly.

Jo Kuffour

shame kuffour's moving (if he really is... may be a hoax. admitedly im clinging on to very little). good player (better than most of the rest) even though he needs an extra touch of two given his height. now lets get in a luvly big tree (crouch sorta size) as a marker man, might be a better bet in L2.
btw.. is kuffour going for free? or are we getting a fee?

^^^point les! atleast now we can move on.

Jo Kuffour

He obviously enjoys relegation battles. Next season will be his 4th on the trot imho.
However it does free up some extra budget as he was offered and therfore budgeted with a decent pay rise for next season.

Jo Kuffour

Laters JK you did us proud in the short time you was here ,shame you didnt sign for a better club than bournemouth ,pitty you if and when you return to gp

WRONG MOVE JK:nono: :nono: :nono:

Must be a woman involved.

Premiership stadium in front of 11,000 and live in unspoilt country splendour or muff in front of 5000 in a matchbox and where house prices are high.

I guess a relegation battle in League 1 is better then a possible relegation battle in league 2  :(

Jo Kuffour

He has decided to go up a division..fair enogh.

According to Andy Scotts's text he was going to be our highest paid player. He was our only shining light last year next to ide, but does anybody really think that we should waste another huge chunk of the budget on one player again?

We have frampton, oconnor and brooker on huge salaries, OK, lloyd has gone, but I would rather we spent another £100K ish basic on 2-3 players and take a gamble on finding another kuffour then allow half the budget to go to 4 players.

Jo Kuffour

I don't understand why he should of?

Andy Scott states that he had a number of excellent offers which sounds very much like his mind was made up to go some time ago - it was just a question of where. He could've informed us that he was going to clear up the uncertainty.

Have you been to bournemouth lately?

Certainly women involved. I work there once a week and I sat in a coffee/sandwich bar for 1 hour on wednesday and saw about 60 of the most beuatiful women come and go in that time. If you did the same in brentford you would see 60 overweight girls with bleached hair sporting tattoos on their lower back or calf and dragging several loud kids around with them.

If it was not for the aggro of the upheavel and the fact my wife and her family are settled unadventurous maidonians I would move there like a shot..lovely town!

Jo Kuffour

I don't think the players actually live in Brentford.
