Luton protest

The only rumours about trouble on Saturday have been on here, based on a conversation in a pub with "Luton Lil," or was it "Letchworth Mick?"

I don't know of any Luton fans who have the slightest intention of causing trouble on Saturday.

nit picking on some of the minor facts does not alter my point. Taking the piss out of a team that is suffering something we, by the grace of god have avoided for the current time, is a bit of a ***** game in my book.

Neither do I but the fact is they've caused trouble before and with it being their last game because of their "unfair" relegation there might be some anger. I hope there wont be, but there is a considerable chance.

I give up. The club make a nice appropriate gesture to a competitor and it gets up the back of some fans.

I will be celebrating a fantastic season with the other bees fans and players and will leave you other chaps to kick a man whilst he is down.

I would hate to live in that world, but hey, whatever makes you happy.

Don't know what all the fuss is about.

Luton will get stick like every other group of away fans has this season,thats the nature of football aint it.

Just coz they've been relegated why should they bee exempt.

Or has everyone conveniently forgotten the amount of abuse we've had thrown at us over the years by their wonderful fans.

Yes over the last couple of seasons we could have been in their position but not through mis-management.

This game will bee heavily policed so the chances of any fans either bees or hatters causing trouble is highly unlikely so can we please concentrate on enjoying our day.

Even if Dyke and Scott hate Luton, would it be professional to slag them off 48 hours before a potentially volatile match?

Do people really want Dyke to come out saying "Everyone hates Luton and were glad they're down etc" and take the focus on Brentford's big day?

Personally I have no love for Luton and won't be losing any sleep over them being relegated but surely even you can see it's just another case of the F.A. crapping on a small club from a big height, if it was one of the prem league clubs they would have got a slap on the wrist and a pidley fine. I'll be there on Saturday celebrating Brentford's title but i wont be going out my way to take the p**s out of Luton, these things have a horrible habit of coming back to bite you on the a**e.

True, it could be us and many football clubs would have my sympathies BUT its luton so will take a few mins out of the 90 to take the piss out of them. Sure it would be happening if things were the other way round. Not surprised by Dyke or Scott coming out and saying what they have given what position we are/have been in and esp with the potential for trouble.
Personally cant see there being a great deal of trouble. Their fans/firm are fully aware the place will be swarmed with OB and theres nothing for them to play for.

I dont think anyone at the club needed to mention the penalites imposed on Luton. They fully deserved them and simply, its not our problem.

I have no issue with AS discussing Luton's on the field performance, but perhaps he could have mentioned that with the quality of their squad and size of their wage bill, they really should have stayed up. Which they might have done if they hadnt spent the first few months crying about the points deduction and trying to blame everyone else.

The statements from GD and AS are there to suck up to Luton to try and stop their fans playing up. Will it make any difference? I personally dont think so.

I would have thought that if the intention was to generate goodwill between both clubs, then Luton could have played their part but then they are hardly renowned for being sporting are they...plastic...away fan ban....

You really shouldn’t make so many assumptions, but no, its just your naive approach to Luton is a little surprising given what so many of our supporters have had to put up with over the years.

You really are a strange bod but thats my opinion, funny enough which is shared with a couple of Luton supporters I work with. They feel that the club spent too much time on the points issue and it meant they got off to a poor start in trying to wipe out the 30 point handicap. When they started concentrating on the league, performances improved and they finished fairly strongly. New players clearly helped as well.

Nevermind though, I'll tell them they are talking out of their arses because a Brentford fan on a mssage board says so!

I've got splinters in my arse but I can see both points on here, however if someone was pissing me off or been nasty to me then I would prefer to be front on and forceful rather than blowing kisses at them and hoping that they will be nice.

It wont make a jot of difference to the ****ing migs thats why :rolleyes:

They have a sizeable minority of thugs who will be out and about in London. The bans following the Watford cup game are largely finished, so they can travel :rolleyes:

Yeah please do. Do they honestly think that the managers and players were sitting in training every day crying and blaming others instead of 'concentrating on the league'? No, thats ridiculous right?

I find it hard to believe that from talking to a couple of Luton fans at work, you now know the reason why Luton were relegated.

Vaild point, but also it's common that clubs create a 'its them against us' seige mentality, that can strengthen and unite a team. The England rugby team did this at the last world cup, and they reached the final against odds.

This thread is very tedious. Saturday is our day and a celebration of our achievements. I have every sympathy for the Luton supporters and am painfully aware that it could easily have been us in their position. I will treat them the way I would want to be treated if the positions were reversed. A little mickey taking is fine but remember, Luton suporters are just Brentford fans born in the wrong part of the country :D

Good post. My brother in law lives across the road from me. He is a Luton fan & a really nice guy who just loves football & follows his team as I do. He's gutted about their position but knows his club have been let down by their board. I've no wish to take the piss out of him 'cos there for the grace of god (& Matthew Benham) there go we. So on Sat, I'm gonna ignore Luton fans & sing my heart out fot the Champions as we did last week. This is about our team & our great club. If there's any agro, then the Met can do what their paid to do. Saturday is about BFC.

The sizeable minority is not very sizeable. 24 Luton fans were arrested at the Watford game 7 years ago and 16 were sent to prison.

Luton have had the 2nd highest home crowds in League 2 this season and one of the biggest, if not the biggest, away followings. The banning orders for anyone involved in the Watford trouble expired at the start of this season and there has not been trouble at a single Luton game.

Not sure why there is any more chance of trouble than 2 weeks ago when we played Barnet - despite talk of Luton fans being ambushed by a Watford-Barnet super-firm, there was no hint of trouble whatsoever, and that game wasn't even all-ticket.

The first post on this thread about Luton fans turning up and getting tickets for all part of the ground (why would we do that when there are hundreds of tickets left in the Luton end), smashing the ground up, getting the game stopped etc. was quite clearly a wind-up and I'm not quite sure why anyone has taken it seriously.

Well done on the title by the way.

When we got relegated from Division one on the last day at Bristol City a few years ago, a section of their supporters spent the whole game gesturing and shouting 'you're going down' and not paying any attention to the match. F...... annoying or what!

How many 'Luton' fans were involved that afternoon and evening against Watford...slightly more than those arrested or jailed though wasn’t it…hundreds more I would estimate...clearly you would have no idea, because the Luton fans you associate with are decent chaps.

Sadly Brentford fans have encountered your loveable rouge element at least twice in the last 10 years or so...The Bricklayers when you had 50 or so involved and also at KX when Brentford supporters were returning from winning the title at Cambridge....needless to say I haven't bothered mentioning small incidents…

As for Luton fans in the home ends…nah, no 'intelligence' to suggest that...or perhaps there is and it hasn’t been reported for obvious reasons…

if theres going to br trouble it will be early in the day ,the same tactic they used at millwall got into one of there pubs and caused trouble
