Manager Position

Some say he has gone others say he hasnt you just cant but love this site!!!

Have no idea what the board think, guess they are far from happy bunnies and bearing in mind they have all, in the main, lobbed in a thick amount of cash to be there I am sure they do not want to see it wasted and in turn do not appreciate the grief they are now getting.

I would imagine they had considered that all things being equal Scott would manage to garner enough points to keep us safe and whilst accepting that there would be a fair bit of moaning the club would get to the end of the season in this division and possibly having got some silverware, all could have breather a huge sigh of releif and then sat down and considered teh future, Last nights inept performance must have given them a shock as it was so bad and now they are trying to agree what action should be taken. They may well be making various phone calls to sound people out before making a decision. Lets face it sack the manager and then find the job is turned down by all and sundry and we are in a worse mess as we would have to make a panic appointment.

That is I hope a possible scenario however if on the other hand it is a bunker mentality and they are going to gamble on keeping Scott for either a few weeks or till the end of the season then they must be MB,s best customers as that is a hell of a gamble on our future.

Having sat through the dross last night neither the management nor players seemed to have any idea or any fight, the fact that Mills was there means he also saw whet we saw and surely to god it is as clear to anyone that Scott has now run his course at Brentford.

History will no doubt be re-written as it is for every manager however whilst grateful for getting us out of the bottom division the football played by Scotts teams have been awful and if anyone is interested to check back I was complaining last season about the style and, something of a lone voice, questioning whether he was the man to progress teh club as in my opinion we were regressing as far as style and systems were concerned. This season has degenerated even further and despite his apologists continualy looking for the silver lining I really cannot see any justification in him staying.

Finally people have commented on B/U standing orders being cancelled and I imagine that whilst feelings are running high some people will take that action to effectivley raise 2 fingers to the club in recognition of the fact that the manager is still here. It is a fairly natural reaction as is some of the somewhat "over the top" comments on here.

It hurts being a Brentford supporter at the moment and that is not right,

Tbf there will be a discussion with AS if he is going to leave & I guess compensation terms to be agreed although they will. iirc, be covered by the contract.

I do agree however that if something is going to happen it should be done very quickly now, even if that includes backing AS - pretty difficult now imo, but I guess still possible?

Have another guess :sorted:.

AS - Promotion as Champions = WINNER
MA - Won/Achieved nothing, could'nt even manage the playoffs = LOSER

Clueless. AS highest league position with Brentford, 9th, Mr Allen, 4th and a 5th, you do the math !!

AS - Promotion as Champions = WINNER
MA - Won/Achieved nothing, could'nt even manage the playoffs = LOSER

Champions in Div 2 consolidation Div 1 poss JPT Finalists for Scott and probable relegation to Div 1

saved from relegation ( great escape Div 1) Playoffs x 2 1 in Div 1 5th round FA Cup x 2 profit on player sales £1m plus

I reckon I know which record is better

We wouldn't, all anyone has to do is play players in their correct position, stop chopping and changing the team every week and stop publicly slagging the players off. Seriously, its not that hard.

other than great escape the rest is nothing never won the play offs didnt win the cup and never saw any of the money put back into the team. MA football was better but both clueless on how to change things. MA arrogance was of a person who was aprroachable, AS is just an arrogant *****.

Record wise AS more succesful. Ma better manager

My wish list....1. (by a country mile) Keith Hill 2. Gary Johnson 3. John Still 4. Martin Allen 5. Alan Devonshire . Id bite your hand off for Curbs or Deano but neither of them are going to happen so I've not included them.

Not Allen's fault.

:backtotopic:
If we can't have Allen, and Gary Johnson is a f**ham *****, and there's no way Coppell, Curbishley, Hughton or Mourinho would take the job, who are we left with?

Iain Dowie? Plenty of wannabee managers out there as well. Danny Murphy always strikes me as someone who could be a good manager.

Keith Hill wont come south. GJ may be an option. John still will want to stay where he is. Martin Allen is a fair shout but his motto may be never go back. Dev is unlikely to get our board too excited though I know him pretty well.

Hoddle? Wilkins? Kinnear? Dowie? Roeder?

I'd go for Geraint Williams myself!

If Keith Hill won't come south it'd almost be worth us moving the club a couple of hundred miles north to land him if that would persuade him. Might not go down to well in some quarters though.

PROMOTION = WINNER

WIN NOTHING AT ALL = LOSER!!!

It's not rocket science, don't need maths for this one, there are winners & losers, and we all know who won something and who didn't.

What is probably more apt for this thread is what are the board doing about the situation. As usual this appears to be nothing. This club has probably the best record of board mismanagement over the past fifty years one promotion above division 1 in that time.

The transfer window has now passed so a new manager will have to go with what he 's got and will probably need a miracle following recent performances. Apart from Martin Allen i cannot see high profile managers wanting the positon with our record.

Will the board act ................................ I doubt it so divison two beckons

Interesting post. We currently have board and a supporters trust that manage to obtain complete refinancing of a legacy debt left by Noades with interest free loans that allowed th club to continuing trading, find a new benefactor who is not building further debt and try and put substantial resourses into the playing side. Ok we are losing football matches, but the total mismanagement is false as continuing to trade is far more important than winning football matches. Yes we llike to see their additional funds succeed, but sometimes business isn't quite that easy and football is one hell of a difficult business to succeed in as there are so few options to success. In a way sacking a manager is easy option allowing time to develop is the harder bit, Scott is now one of the longest serving managers with 3 years, in the football pyramid and says all you need to know about the business generally. So if our board are mismanaging so to are most others.
I'm sure if you came up with £250K, abee would let you take your chance to take the club forward. As would the other serious benfactors who give their time and money to what you call mis-management.

Ron Noades Winner Phil Holder winner and in the sence you are arguing the most succesful post war manager.

Overall still beleive MA did a better job with less resources i na higher division.

Also your argument means that managers who get promoted from the championship are better managers than the majority in the Prem League, higher league higher standards

Reckon you are in the minority with this one but good luck to you, will agree to disagree

I'd like to see Alan Devonshire get a chance in league management, but I don't want to take a punt with him right now.

If we went after Keith Hill with conviction, I reckon we could persuade him to come. But I don't see our board doing that.
Surely, Gary Johnson would be a better bet than John Still? Nothing wrong with John Still, but Johnson has had more success at this and a higher level.

So if Holloway wins nothing at Blackpool and keeps them in premiership, he would be less succesful than Waddock getting Wycombe promoted?lol

MA had to "go with what he's got" and that didn't turn out too bad did it?

And no that is not me suggesting that MA should come back, although he might make the place seem like we are part of it again

Actually, I reckon this is probably true. How difficult can it be to manage a team with seven guillion quid? Could Shralex take charge of Burton Albion and get them up to the Championship? Could he feck.

You're right though. What Martin Allen achieved at Griffin Park was different gravy to what Andy Scott has done. I don't understand how anyone can even compare the two, let alone reach the conclusion that Scott has achieved more .

well I have just got in from college and logged in fully expecting to see the "Andy Scott has left the club by mutual consent" headline :(

Really good post.

Frustration is affecting some people's judgement at the moment. We got a good view from some of abee's posts earlier this week that the board were far from happy with how things were going. Last night woud only have worsened that view. I still have faith that we have good guys on the board & we need to let them do their job. Probbaly sacking AS is the easy bit. It's what they do next that will be more difficult and they need to get it right. I don't suppose any of us want history to repeat itself.

martin allen to get us back in contention to stay in this league, scott and bullivant out asap. I would like to add that i sit behind the dugout and last saturday as brentford were moving out of defence(ie KO was hoofing bhe ball forward) scotty was trying to shout at spillane to give him a b***ocking and spillane just ignored him like he wasn't there, seems even the players can't be bothered to take any notice.
