Does he have to pay back his severance pay

He wasn't sacked last time, he left for Newcastle United. So no severance pay involved.

Bruce has gone to Villa.....

Managerial Thread 2016 / 2017

Jobs for the boys again !!! Every time a manager goes it's the same old faces turning up.

Very proud that Brentford don't follow that blueprint
He made such a hash of their promotion push a couple of seasons ago, that it just seems beyond ridicule to re-appoint him. He's in the equivalent of the Old Boys network, as you say, I'm glad we don't follow that model. Can't imagine the fans are happy.

Although in recent years McClaren hasn't been a success his record isn't that bad.Won the league cup with Boro, won the Dutch title with Twente...plenty out there worse than that but seems a very odd choice at Derby and would be an interesting read on their messageboards.

As for Villa Steve Bruce is a good choice for them.

Agree about Bruce. Experience of getting out of this league in the right direction. I expect Villa to start doing better.

I just feel a more far-sighted approach would be to have appointed someone who could build a future, whereas with Steve Bruce I expect, yes maybe he will get them promoted, I mean they are the second biggest club in this division, but then if his record is anything to go by they will be relegation candidates once they get to the Premiership. I wish they'd gone with David Moyes at the start of the season, I predicted Di Matteo was the wrong choice on the basis that he has no experience of rebuilding. And before anyone says about Moyes and Sunderland, I'll say as I always do: Sunderland is a manager's graveyard. Allardyce might have proved the exception, but something like the last seven or eight managers there have all struggled.

Hardly and exception he kept them up on the last game of the season, so did struggle.

You would think that there were only a certain number of managers available the way the merry-go-round just keeps regurgitating the same old names, whether they have been successful or not in the past.

Just seen Woy H walking across Richmond bridge (lives in St Margarets ). Hands in pockets and had the air of man who's just come out of the job centre looking for a job. Oh hang on.....

Managerial Thread 2016 / 2017

Personally I think he'll be too worried about what the fat lass has done with Casper to take the job...

Don't worry .He's got his HAIR ISLLANNNNDDD, His HAAIIIR ISLANNNNND.

Wrexham sack manager Mills. Is that the complete set for Wales now?

Managerial Thread 2016 / 2017

I've mentioned Alan Devonshire many times, on this thread, wondering why he's yet to manage a league outfit, even suggested him in the past for Brentford manager.
His Maidenhead side are doing very well, lead the National League South by five points, won their last four.

Managerial Thread 2016 / 2017

Only his legend status must be keeping Neil Harris in a job ?

Managerial Thread 2016 / 2017

Alan Stubbs sacked according to SSN. Only one win this season :(

Wolves sack Walter Zenga.

Managerial Thread 2016 / 2017

Merry go round... Robinson to Wolves, Zenga to Milton Keynes. ;)

Zenga was such a bonkers appointment it was inevitable but wasn't expecting him to be sacked so early??

Managerial Thread 2016 / 2017

Four defeats in five. Just remind me who the win was against:fishing:

Just like Stubbs at Rovrum. It appears beating us does not guarantee job security:D

he must be a very rich man thanks to being rubbish at management, this must be his 15th sacking

Wigan dump Caldwell,at this rate DS will be the longest serving manager by Xmas

Managerial Thread 2016 / 2017

Dean Smith up to 43rd longest serving manager.

Managerial Thread 2016 / 2017

Zenga I get, mad as hell and the fit looked awkward from the outside, Caldwell is bang out of order and another sh*tty thing happening at a sh*tty little club. He deserved a bit of loyalty after that run that got them up last season IMO.

I was surprised to hear this one which is a truly bonkers decision.

It is symptomatic of Bertie Big Bollox attitude in that Wigan feel they should be tearing up the Championship as a matter of right.

They've started OK and will be fine. Some patience was needed as well as an understanding of the rise in standards they are facing this season.
