Managerial Thread 2016 / 2017

I try not to judge other teams sackings. From the outside (and some on here!) many thought it was madness when Andy Scott was sacked. Then there's the hindsight of Rosler and Warburton.
Still upset about Bill Dodgin though.
Watford having a conveyor belt of managers seems to have worked for them though. Southampton are used to it too.

Too true. I know a Soton fan very well and he reckons they all want Puel out, and have done for some time - no confidence in him at all.

Yeah, but sooner or later you're going to get it wrong, in which case you need to take remedial action immediately.

We did that with Marinus, maybe Watford/Soton should have done the same with Mazzarri/Puel well before now?

Managerial Thread 2016 / 2017

Southampton's manager, Puel, under the spotlight too, it seems. Les Reed conducting a review into the season.

Makes you wonder what these Clubs - Watford & Southampton - expect from their Manager? If they believe top 6 or 7 - qualify for Europe - then they need to realise it's a tough League!

They seem to have completely unrealistic expectations, as do so many foreign owners. But then I suppose they are only in it for the money, and can see what phenomenal amounts are earned by those teams which qualify for Europe.

I wouldn't be surprised if SW get shot of Carlos Carvalhal after last nights result.

Keith Hill has just signed a new 5 year contract with Rochdale! Funny as I was sure he was still at Barnsley.............

Managerial Thread 2016 / 2017

Moyes has resigned....which is probably good for us as I only think he would have done so if he wasn't promised decent funding. I think the club are preparing to land in the Championship rather than 'go again'.

I dunno.....I reckon he'd probably still get decent offers and he'll probably be back at a top level club before too long (whether here or abroad).
Not beyond the realms of possibility he'd take a payday and go to China for a bit.

Scotland manager role available soon,

No surprise about Moyes, couldn't see him slumming it in the Championship to be honest.

Managerial Thread 2016 / 2017

Moyes didn't want to come and face the PADDOCK couldn't stand the thought of the abuse he would get

Sam Allardyce leaving Palace. Sunderland bound do you think?

Managerial Thread 2016 / 2017

Suspect he saw the writing on the wall. I don't think his American masters were quite as enamoured of what he has achieved as he was

Managerial Thread 2016 / 2017

Hope Allardyce does not repeat a Pullis and ask for the Loyalty Bonus for keeping them up ???

Suspect he has earned one as long as it did not specify that he had to remain in post until the new season!

My understanding was that both they and Allardyce shared a similar passion for things like ProZone, player diagnostics, and that he was far more to their liking than Pardew.
I'm genuinely surprised he's leaving. I would think it's the perfect platform for Allardyce and Palace to push on and build something decent there.

Should add, if it wasn't for that *****/crook Cellino, Allardyce would be the perfect manager for Leeds United.
Genuinely big club in need of awakening; fans don't care much about playing style, just want a return to the top flight.

I reckon he's earned his big bonus and sees no point in staying somewhere he's not really wanted. He was the Red Adair they needed but he's better off oop North and reckon a return to Sunderland is made for him.

If Sam is true to his word fair play to him,as he says at 62 he is still fit and young enough to travel and enjoy life out of football.I expect he will pop up on the tv though as a pundit to top up the travel pot.

He apparently got a 10 Million bonus for keeping Palace up. Don't think he needs to top it up!

I know owners would probably look at it from a risk and reward point of view but if that is true then that is truly nuts

Daniel Farke (Dortmund B manager) appointed Norwich manager.
