Personally, having seen him play in the USA series of games and listened to his interviews, I felt reasonably confident that he would settle in well. We will have to get used to his phlegmatic style when he’s in possession of the ball, but his distribution is very good/excellent and he certainly had an assured performance against Spurs. Apart from one errant pass towards the end of the game he wasn’t really troubled playing behind an inexperienced defensive lineup. He made a fine save against Son at his near post and the goals conceded were, in my opinion, both very good goals. No doubt he will have moments both good and bad and a goalkeeper’s errors are invariably magnified, but I think we’ve managed the transition from Raya very well. Another clever bit of business by PG and his team.

Looks decent did worry when see in usa but he looks decent and will be a good replacement for raya, but he frightens the life out of me when he goes wide of his goal passes the ball across our empty goal lol.

I respect your right to have an opinion different from mine, please afford me the same respect
As wrong as your opinion is, I afforded you plenty of respect when disagreeing with it.

Very silly comment, carry on squabbling because someone didn’t agree with your opinion …
Whether Flekken could have saved that shot vs Spurs or not is a matter of opinion, which I respectfully disagreed with.

Whether Raya would be sold for less than £40m was once a matter of opinion, it has since become an indisputable fact. A pointless argument in any case and I'm not getting into it on this thread. I'm just here to appreciate Flekken and what an excellent replacement he is for Raya.

I really rate Flekken - honestly have no nerves when he is in possession. Made a wonderful double save in the second half that from the North Stand I could see the whole of the East Stand standing up. A bit of a communication issue with Collins for the goal and this will improve as they play more games together but kudos to PG for getting Flekken in early doors.

The double save was outrageous. Distribution first class again as well.

I was one of those in the standing ovation behind the East Stand goal. 3 outrageous saves. Great distribution throughout.

Goal was a bit crap (not all his fault) but he made a couple of superb saves. He’s good

Yes he should have done better, but Anderson should never have been allowed into the area like that.

Good performance.
Anderson should of been taken out how can we let a defender run that far with the ball.

Saw all the saves from the East stand. Amazing!! Sad to see that ball slowly rolling across the line, but otherwise outstanding.

That double save was top notch and got an extended standing ovation.

Looks a very good keeper got at a decent price.
The goal let in was just one of those things.

Watching the coverage I am certain I heard Flekken call for the ball which resulted in Collins jumping out of the way.

Whether or not there was a call is the crux. I'd expect a goalkeeper to take precidence over any defender and make the call as to what to do here. If Flekken made the call and Collins jumped out the way, the error belongs to Flekken. If Collins was told to 'clear' it, and he didn't, the error was his.

I think you're right. But i think the way Collins jumps over it probably puts MF off the save. (too much going on in such close proximity).

IMO Collins should have wiped the lot out. If that includes his own keeper then so be it.

He didnt run that far mate. He laid it off and received the return. I need to see it back, but the tracking and defending on what i assume is Pinnocks side was poor.

Looking very good overall, his distribution is excellent; short and medium range passing is probably better than Raya. A great double save too.

Shame about the goal but no goalkeeper is immune to freak unfortunate moments like that, Ramsdale and Onana had worse yesterday alone IMO. Raya had those moments occasionally last season too.

I think a more experienced defender smells the danger and takes no chances, wasn’t great from Collins either.

From west stand it looked like he was running a long way which I’ve now seen on MOTD wasn’t the case and a simple clearance from Collins would of sufficed.
