Pure mischief making. Chris Houghton was at the game yesterday, I wonder if Warbs sees management or the directors role as his long term goal ?

He consistently said 95 points. I actually stated on another thread 87 would be enough a month or so ago and still believe it would have been.

They're fine. They don't wear tracksuits cos they manage a bank ! Personally I think it's all about celebrity imaging and it looks silly to me.

It's no bad thing setting the bar higher than we actually need to achieve, as has happened here - it's called positive motivation. I never really thought that us, Wolves and Orient would all be able to carry on averaging more than 2 points a game until the end of the season, and, in the end, it was Orient that fell by the wayside, while we keep celebrating like we've won the FA Cup...

Our manager isn't and wasn't a player. He should wear a suit. If you're not playing sport you don't need to wear sports kit. No to FKWs.

Have to disagree. He's not out their to play or run around. He looks fine in a suit. actually think that some older managers look faintly ridiculous in a tracksuit.

Image of a proper manager as opposed to a manager wearing a suit with a fleece under the jacket, getting mud all over his shoes and soaked when it rains. I know what I like.:)

Sartorial elegance everytime. He's not kicking the football or showing them how to, he's the man who tells them what he needs them to do and commands their respect.

Why does he need a tracksuit to do that?

Uwe's fortunes seemed to change when he started wearing a sharp suit last season, Warbs carried on the tradition, and he and Warbs have not looked back since!
Personally, I think it looks very business-like and extremely 'Managerial', but I guess it is all a matter of taste.

Mourinho was tracked up vs Atletico. He needed a result. Ferguson was quasi tracky as he had that old coat over a fleece, Sir Matt always wore a suit but was the exception and Wenger doesn't win anything so needs a change.

The acid test will come in the playoffs. Without fear of contradiction , I predict the winner will be either Orient or Preston as both managers wear a tracksuit which gives them empathy with the players as they share the same tools of the trade. The Rotherham manager can't wear a tracksuit as the sizes don't go that big so he's done. Ferguson might have a chance if he wore an old overcoat like his Dad but as things stand at the mo, he hasn't got a chance.

Absolute balderdash, Spick Air lost Mourinhos suitcase so he was forced to wear a track suit after soiling his suit due to a dodgy landing. Sir Alex actually has one of those very "with it" coats that include an integrated fleece lining from M&S Autograph range, bought for him by his family when they saw how red his nose got on the line.

Wearing a track suit shows you are still see yourself as really a player. That used to be ok in the past when managers were almost exclusively drawn from successful ex players. Nowadays the manager is more likely to have 'learnt' about the game not only from playing it but taking courses and reflecting on it. It is now much more professionalised.

I think Warburton has it right in his suit and tie. He had a successful career in the City so understands the signals a suit and tie send. The semiotics of male business dress is an interesting area but perhaps not many of us are really that interested in it. Suffice it to say a black suit signals seriousness and professionalism going back to the Quakers. Women in the City tend to wear black to show they should be taken seriously. I dare not get into ties as I fear those reading this may get somewhat queasy. But at one level the senior person in an organisation still wears a tie.

Perhaps Warburton for our last game could go tieless? And chinos?

If Warbs can acquire the requisite firepower for next season, with the defence and midfield we already have, we'll prove a very tough proposition for anybody IMO.

I strongly agree, but mcparland, warbs and co have their work cut out finding someone of getting us 15-20 goals in the championship

If its a nice day why not a nice pair of Bermuda shorts and a Panama. Think you are right about the suit it indicates to the players that he is the manager and that when push comes to shove his is the last word.

I think he'll do well but he'll need to significantly improve his ratios to get high double figures IMHO.
Better keepers, quicker defenders, every shot he took this season will need to be decided on half a second quicker. I hope he signs, he deserves a 2 year contract and we should bite his hand off if he wants to sign but I 'd rather have him alongside Trotta or (another) rather than rely on his goals alone.

If you need to wear specific clothing to point out that you are the boss, then it's game over. IMO Warbs looks the part with his interviews from the training ground. Mark my prediction that the manger who wins the playoffs will wear a tracksuit [ Grayson or Slade ].

The two forwards were signed up by Steve Perryman, as was most of that team. For me Holder was not as good as a lot of people think. Perryman left just before the start of that season, due to a rift with Lange. Warbs is the man.

That sadly goes with the job but I don't feel any angst towards Holder, Perryman, MA, Coppell, Leroy or Fitz, I don't even dislike Uwe, I just didn't think he'd get us up. Everyone thinks differently about every player or manager, I just get the impression that MW sees a lot of what he does as a fan would, he's living the dream, from desk to football management, a great story. He's fairly unique with his background and there is not a hint of us needing to feel lucky to have him as per people before him, he knows he's lucky to have us.

Have to disagree with you. The clothing you wear in a work environment should stimulate empathy not stratification. Everyone knows who is the boss. You might wear a suit if you are meeting people who also wear suits but that doesn't apply. I have decided to take up the issue of manager clothing as my cause celebre as it's been a bit dull on here since Uwe left. I fully expect the team photo to feature Warbs in a tracksuit. Eat with the troops.;)

The current squad with two forwards like Bliss and Deano to choose from and I'd betting on us to make the play offs next season.
