I think it was a summary of what the players themselves had told him before he came out; they knew.
good! waste of £50+ today..
Ade it wasn't a specific " dressing down" of individual players more a genetic statement that, with a few exceptions, the players did not perform and that, as a club, it was found unacceptable
I thought it was an honest response and does no harm to remind the players that as a club we expect more. It was different to the Scott comments we used to hear about following orders etc. don't think it does any harm and don't expect the players are perturbed about it, they know they didn't turn up
The players, rightly, have been lauded this season by supporters and manager alike but a little reminder to them that such performances are below BFC expectations is no bad thing

Good point. His body language was not great I thought. I hope I am wrong and this particular cloud has blown over.
Not quite sure where you're going with this. What particular cloud are you referring to?
It was a poor team performance which solicited a stern rebuke from the manager to which the players have accepted (well the one's who have been quoted on the media). Warburton's response seemed fully justified and conversant with the fans who paid to watch and the players who let their previously high standards slip- end of story. We put in a good performance against Stevenage get the party back on track and building for next season.

There's that, but I'd guess it's also a reflection of his demanding standards generally.Warbs obviously took it personally. Perhaps more so as it was far from a nothing game for Colchester and the no show performance will have embarrassed Warbs big time in relation to the other teams in the dog fight to stay up.
Let's face it we may be desperate for points in 12 months and we wouldn't be impressed by a promoted team rolling over like we did on Sat.
Seems like he asked the players what he should say. Pretty good management that imho

Whoops slipping into Richard III .
The cloud is the response in the social media, main stream media and with the players. Ok perhaps a slight drizzle at the end of a glorious summer. Whoops slipping into Richard III , now is the winter of discontent made glorious summer by this son of York. An unfortunate reference as look what happened to Richard.

I am interested in not what so much what Warburton said after the Colchester game but why he said it. He has also struck me as being a thoughtful and reflective person, who with a very successful career behind him in a high pressure environment , has much more experience in people management than the run of the mill manager. So why go out of his way to depart from the normal, never criticise the players in public? We all know they, with a few exceptions, let themselves down. They were, and I hate to say this, unprofessional. They know this, and they know we know this.
Being dressed down by Warburtin in public is not adding anything to the situation. I still feel he is a cut above other managers mainly because of his background. I would have thought he would have found a bland formulae for the post match interviews.
This week he needs to concentrate on helping the players learn from their performances.
If it had been me I would have been pretty mad and probably made just the same points as he did. But he is the manager, with years of top notch experience. I am not.
Oh well next August we will see. Another season, new players and new challenges. I do hope we will not in November have a Warburton out campaign as we did with Rosler. We need stability not change when we experience bad weather. This squall should not deflect us or start to undermine team cohesion.
Really ? I had a brilliant day !
Really ? I had a brilliant day !
For Gawds sake, first the Latin now Shakespeare, getting a bit posh this board us philistines will soon be kicked off !!!!
If he had protected the players and not got onto them in public, his credibility with the fans would have taken a big hit.
That performance wasn't us losing 1-0 away at Swindon, or throwing away a two goal lead against MK, or even 3-0 away at Rotherham, all 3 times Warbs came out and didn't publicly criticise the players.
The performance was absolutely terrible. He couldn't defend it!
Me too. A cracker, half time bar area gatherings a plenty next season.
With Clayton out of contract and in negotiations with us and other clubs I expect with the chance of picking up an injury that would leave him in the brown stuff.add to that Saville and Trotta looking at offers away from the club.
is this true or your speculation? If it is true I agree drop the three of them .
Claytons contract is up after Saturday since January his agent would have been able to tout him round other clubs and as he's 31 in January he's looking for a good last pay day and who can blame him.So no speculation there.Trotta is not high on Fulhams most wanted list (they do have a very good youth team)and as he was one of Uwe's so I would expect he has him in his sights depending on whether Wigan go up or not.Like Trotta Saville is not ours and unless we are very close to agreeing terms with their clubs and representatives I can't see them being that enthusiastic in busting a gut in what is a nothing game for them.A bit of speculation there but still think this game is good opportunity for some of our young talent to get a chance.
He achieved his target by completing successfull season that has put him in the shop window do you really think a good game against Stevenage will get him a better deal that is already on the table whether from us,Chelsea or anyone else.I will speculate however and that is none of these players will be with us next season. So to answer Bigbees question this is purely your own speculation.
All players are being touted to other clubs all the time, why should cd be any different.Whats your point?
Trotta is not high on Fulhams wanted list....says who?I do
Trotta was one of Uwe's was he? Was he not one of MW who was responsible for bringing the players in?Not this season
Saville needs to be close to signing an egreement with us or he will not be up for busting a gut? So what motivated him all season do you think?

Not all of my reply came out in full so
Who says Fulham don't want Trotta .......Me
Re Clayton ....whats your point?
If you believe like me that Trotta and Saville won't be here next season then why play them?
My guess with CD is that so long as BFC can match financially any other offers he may have, then he's likely inclined to stay at GP.With Clayton out of contract and in negotiations with us and other clubs I expect with the chance of picking up an injury that would leave him in the brown stuff.add to that Saville and Trotta looking at offers away from the club can't see the point in playing them in the last game.Would expect MW.s authority to be diluted with these players so would rather some other players given the chance to show their worth..
As a Wolves fan(!) suggested elsewhere, MW should bring on Kev for the last five minutes in place of.....On Saturday KOC will in all probability play for the 500th for Brentford and will probably start so that he can be subbed and receive the genuine appreciation that he deserves.

As for GS and MT, young loanees from EPL clubs who have played regularly for the 2nd best team in Lge One will undoubtedly be attracting a lot of attention from other clubs. Therefore if the players (or their Agents) have any brains at all, they should be looking forward to turning over Stevenage in a big way, so as to put them to the front of the Shop Window.
And unless MW thinks there is NO chance of keeping them at GP next season, he should pick them (imo), since to leave them out of the type of game most players would like to feature in, would only risk alienating them further.
Do you mean an offer/deadline from BFC?I would expect there is a deadline for these players to decide on the offers that have been on the table for a while. For all we know it could have past.
Do you mean an offer/deadline from BFC?
If so, I can't believe that the club would make firm offers before Promotion was assured.
In which case I doubt the club would seriously demand a decision from them in 12 days since Good Friday, never mind sooner.
And even if the club has, I can't see the Players (their Agents more like) being willing to be bound by such an ultimatum.
In other words, you don't call the shots in a Poker game unless you're holding all the cards.
Which BFC are not.
P.S. It's not just a case of what BFC or the Players want, their parent clubs have a say in the matter, too. And in the case of MT at least, there is no way Fulham will be prepared to talk to either Marcello or BFC until they know what League they'll be in next Season. Mind you, when they do, it seems MW will still be interested, so no sign of any deadline there:

"How long do you need?"I would expect the offers have been on the table for a while with the starting point of us being in the championship that was assured as you say 12 days ago so how long do you need?
No doubt, but what he wants and what he can reasonably hope to get before April is even out, are two very different things.... pretty sure MW will wont to get his squad in place ASAP and with other targets already in negotiations I would expect.
"How long do you need?"
Why on earth would MT or GS make a decision re BFC before they know what other alternatives may arrive?
Other possible buyers* need to know where they will be next season (budgetary reasons) before they can even think of starting talks with players for next season.
So long as they're fixed up by August, George and Marcello would be mad to make a premature decision, and BFC have no way of forcing their hand before they're ready (not least because they still both Chelsea/Fulham players).
* - Eg several clubs in the Championship, who have P/O hopes/Relegation fears, plus another half a dozen EPL clubs who aren't quite safe from relegation
No doubt, but what he wants and what he can reasonably hope to get before April is even out, are two very different things.
My guess is that whatever targets MW may have for next season, very few (if any) are likely to be secured before this season has even ended.

I want to see all the playes responsible for this brilliant season playing Saturday.
Am I not correct in saying that contracts run out at the end of June for those who are out of contract so to a degree would not expect much movement prior to that as why buy a player in May and pay them for a month when not needed
The loanees are a different matter and no doubt if we wNt them and they want to stay are in discussions, however other clubs will also be looking around at the end of May and those loanees will need to speak to their parent clubs in the interim
Will be exciting to read all the suggestions on here but I bet at the end if the day most newcomers won't be in our radars

Would expect us to have at least 10 players on our radar already with the backup team we have.
