No offence, but I fear you're straying into the realms of the bleedin' obvious by stating we need a Gerd Muller (didn't need to look it up), but realistically, how are we going to get one at this stage of the season, with our resources?

Probably the closest I've seen this season at Lge One level is Patrick Bamford, and MK Donkeys couldn't hold onto him when a Championship team came calling. Last season Paddy Madden seemed the same, but he's looking like he was a "One Season Wonder". A couple of seasons ago we thought we had one in Jeffrey Schlupp, but couldn't sign him permanently (which might not have been such a miss) and a couple of seasons before we definitely had one in Jordan Rhodes, but again, couldn't secure him permanently.

So instead of panicking and pinning our hopes on an external 'solution', imo we might be better looking for the answer internally - after all, it's only a fortnight since many posters were claiming that ours was the best squad in the Division...

Barry Corr - Please no, why do you think he's a fourth division journeyman- rather have Farid back.

What we need and repeating what has been said before is something different, a Plan B or an alternative if either Trotta or Grigg aren't having a positive impact on the game.
For me the ideal alternative would be a big, quick, strong centre forward who is strong in the air and will be a physical handful to mark. Farid doesn't probably tick all boxes, Conor and Kadeem don't either although it may be worth considering restoring Clayton back to the central berth if no one available to come in on loan and playing Dallas out wide right.
I do think Clayton holds the key to where we finish this season as on his day he's virtually unplayable and occupies defenders freeing up space and opportunities for other players in and around the danger area.
Not panicking as still think we have more than enough quality to work out how to adapt when teams have the measure of us through the middle, I'm assuming MW knows and is addressing but a new inbound forward will probably lift everyone with the possible exception of Grigg?

How many teams need a proven goalscorer?
How many are available? answer is none, they are a rare commodity that are under contract elsewhere. You have to get a lucky. Rhodes had no proven record when he joined us, he was a young loanee with little experience, he has since become proven. That is what we are more likely to get and you still have to create chances for a goalscorer anyway.

I always think that Clayton might be better off as an out and out old fashioned centre forward. We have got players that create space and can centre the ball, surely worth a try.

We (or at least I ;)) have done this to death. He's not an old-fashioned centre forward, though, as witnessed by Uwe and Mark, he's a 20% player in that position in that his touch is poor, he can't judge a ball in the air and so he does not hold the ball up and feed others in, because his reading of the game, particularly with Academy-schooled players around him, is poor. His real attribute is speed and power, so playing him wider/deeper gives him a chance to run at a defender, where he is most threatening. As one of the wider players in a front three or playing off a centre player, he can be a killer. He just goes through long spells of "lack of confidence", solving that is the manager's challenge with him. Putting him in a position - up top - without the confidence, is just plain wrong.

We had one in Grabban but for what ever reason, probably because he was hard to handle, we let him go.

Agreed to a point but IMO there are instances where playing him through the middle and bringing someone like Dallas on to get crosses into the box would act as some form of alternative to playing balls into Trotta's feet. His pace would also facilitate balls over the top of the centre halves which isn't an option with Trotta's lack of pace.

Against Wolves when it was clear our plan A was being snuffed out, it was something I'd like to have seen tried.

To me, this will only work if we go 4-4-2; meaning that (for example) Judge and Dallas/Fillo play as wingers at the expense of a midfielder and that Clayton still needs to play off a central player. Having him as sole "mobile" forward with two centre backs marking him will never work.

We do have a "fox in the box" style striker in Grigg.

He has overall not really impressed this season but there's a number of reasons for that.

To give the lad his due, he's got what is it 5 goals in 12 starts?

What we need to sign as the other option is someone with strength who's good in the air but is also mobile.

Warburton is not daft.

Yes this is his first managerial role but his footballing past has been in scouting and talent development. He's made it public we're looking to sign a striker.

.....at least a couple of goals from our 'strikers' would be nice........otherwise why play them....unless its to supply the midfield of course:idea:

Yes to create more chances as well as chipping in themselves. Despite huge posession our actual chances have been few of late. A proven goalscorer can only score if a chance is created.

The proof of the pudding is going to be the next 3 games. If we win our next three games then we the fans can get stuffed!

I hope we fans do get stuffed (honestly) otherwise Warbo has a problem. I really really hope he does NOT!

One game at a time. Just keep counting points one game at a time. We are well placed. What we don't want is a tense home support carried on to the players.

Just watched his BP interview. Much of the same old stuff......the boys have trained well, the squad is in good shape, the pitches are drying out, I'm not criticising Warbs, he can only answer what the interviewer asks him...........but the questions are always the same !!................but he did make reference to some people who are questioning his decision to loan out certain players and did name Toumani............Which just goes to prove HE DOES read the GPG ! :warbs:lol

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I think there are a fair few BFC employees who love the guilty pleasure of a sneak peak on here.

People say you can only beat whats in front of you, I reckon it must be true for interviews too. You can only answer the questions you are asked and if the questioner keeps serving up dollys without chucking in the odd grenade then you just trot out the same answers

I'm not fussed if he doesn't do a Jose Mourinho or MA interview weekly. I'm happy if he says what he thinks and gets the best out of the players and three points most weeks.

Apart from Biily Reeves, all interviews are done by BFC employees - hence only easy questions. And many of those are "closed questions." Hardly challenging.

Unfortunately the way the English FA is set up we will always lag behind the likes of German and Spanish clubs .

Mark knows his stuff and has some great contacts in the game both in the UK and abroad.
