Michael Turner

Michael Turner

quite a few media outlets have reported that Turner was very close to getting into one of Mr Capello's squads........

That again was from Phil Browns mouth though, who was trying to big him up.

His centre back partner has even played for England!!!

Michael Turner

I think many people are taking it as given that Turner will leave this transfer window, and I really have my doubts. I genuinely think there is more chance of him staying than going.

I'm in 2019 in my Football Manager game and he's still at Hull. We're doomed I tell you!

Michael Turner

.....................doesn't often have a bad game......................

Michael Turner

He's failed to perform at the time we absolutely needed it. My heart literally sank when I saw him completely miss the ball en route to Defoe's 2nd. :(

We are going to need an invincible performance from him next time out if a move is going to happen. Let's hope any managers interested don't write him off on the basis of one bad performance, which the entire Hull defence were responsible for.

Michael Turner

Last night I could see hundreds of thousands of pounds floating away into the distance - sickening

Michael Turner

I thought he looked awful against Spurs, can't see him going anywhere on that performance, too slow by far.

Michael Turner

James Collins is going to Stoke from West Ham for £5m which almost certainly means that Shawcross is on his way. :sgrug:

he turned them down:eek:

Michael Turner

average??:eek:He was sh*te!

Mind you - Torres looked sh*te against Spurs on Sunday, do you think his value dropped much?

Hull are a crap team, they will finish bottom 3 this year. I think John Terry would struggle to bolster that defence. IF Hull are smart they will sell Turner now, bank the money and plan for relegation and bounce back....

Michael Turner

He had a poor game against Spurs, however after saturdays game I met up with some Chelsea fans in London and their first appraisal of their game with Hull was how good the centre backs were.

Michael Turner

Yep. Looked awful against Defoe. I really hope someone does come in and we get our payday... but there's no way he's worth £12m imo.

Michael Turner

Sky just reported City dropped their interest in signing lescott from everton.Maybe City in for Turner?wishfull thinking.

Man City will probably now go for someone like Upson.

Hopefully, his performance against Defoe was just a blip but any comparison with Mooro is ridiculous. Turner is a good centre back who makes up for lace of pace by reading the game well but he will never be great or a regular England international IMHO

It was more a comparison that lack of pace doesn't necessarily mean you are not likely to reach a decent level and play for a top club. Moore was used as a person who had reached the highest level without pace and not a comparison as a footballer with Turner.
You could look at todays big CB such as Carragher, Terry & Vidic and I would be surprised if any were actually much quicker than Turner. They are however still better players.

Michael Turner

Mark hughes just interviewed on Sky didn't rule out Lescott just no further contact with Everton this week

This is probably nearer the truth. The move almost has to happen now. I cannot see how Lescott can remain at Everton.

Michael Turner

£12m is looking very overpriced

If Newcastle's Taylor could go for £6m ( he's closer to the England team ) then I can't see how Turner can be worth more

indeed:sad:

Michael Turner

Turner has a longer contract than Taylor and Hull do not need to sell, unlike Newcastle.

Michael Turner

Aston Villa and Hull are in transfer talks that could lead to a swap deal between Michael Turner and Luke Young. Mmmmmmm Fingers crossed!!!

Michael Turner

Do we get 15% of Luke Young? How does that work?

Michael Turner

Don't like the sound of this...swap deals usually end up with the club that has the sell on clause being well shafted as the transfer value is written down thus saving money for those poor hard up premiership clubs.

Michael Turner

Yeah we could get stitched up he couldn't we. if hull got a player values at £5million plus £1 million cash for instance, would we get just £150,000?

transfer windon finishes at the end of august doesn't it?

:sorted:

Michael Turner

So how does the swap deal work with sell ons?
Are the players valued equally, and then the financial transactions actually occur? It's called a swap, but really the two clubs are buying each others players for the same amount?
What would stop the clubs from the valuing their players at £1 and then doing the swap?

Michael Turner

No £5m + £1m = £6m so 15% = £900,000

I can't see that. What would stop Villa valuing Young and Hull Turner at say £1m as part of the deal to squeeze out Bees and Charlton?

The only hope I can claw is that there is a bidding war looming and Hull are going to want cash.

Good point maybe we get bugger all.

The other point I forgot was the fact that we only get 15% of any transfer value over £375k and Chalton also get 15%.

The players used to get 5% if they never asked for a transfer and if agent fees are involved Hull could actually have to pay out quite a bit of cash to off-load him.

If he went for the £5m + £1m cash (Total value £6m)

Brentford & Charlton both get £843,750 which is £1,697,500 + £300,000 for the player comes close to £2m.

So in that instance they would be £1m worse off tin cash terms.

Don't Know if they could put zero value on play if they just turned down an offer of £5m from Liverpool saying he was worth £12m.....................

Maybe one for the Bees & Addicks solicitors having to so sort out in which case they too will take a nice cut.:confused:

Michael Turner

I don't think there is such a thing as a "swap deal" in real terms. I believe the reality is that club A buys player 1 for X amount and club B buys player 2 for Y amount. Both have to be declared. The "swap" is merely a negotiating discussion.

Michael Turner

Lescott on the move very soon - for £24m apparantly  - so if there is to be a centre half merry-go-round it should start now.

All the CB named recently that Everton are targetting, not one included Turner, but Senderos, Steven Taylor & a n other foreigner. None of these moves to Everton are likely to trigger Turner moving anywhere.

Michael Turner

Quite a few defenders being “linked” away with a move before deadline day. Hope Brown hasn’t priced Turner out of the market.

Fancy Villa to lose tonight which may force O’Neils hand, Lescott is as done as done so maybe Moyes might get in 2 CB’s???

Wheater
Taylor
Collins
Shawcross
Huth
Senderos

Michael Turner

I wouldn't be surprised if Turner ended up at Fulham.

Villa bid for Distin, if they get him that would end Turner possibility for them.

McShane signing for Hull today subject to medical, although he'll probably play RB and not replace Turner. Although it would leave them with Zayette & Gardner too. So maybe room is being made for his departure. :sorted:

My guess would be Fulham or Sunderland now with £5m max down with rest in add ons.
