If we'd had the capacity, we'd have sold 20,000 tickets for Brentford v Reading in May 2002.

The report coming out today reminded me of how much I enjoy standing at football. So, if you have Facebook, please do join my group. It would be great if we could get several thousand on there.
On LR, good news that it isn't going to be a Doncaster or Darlington style ground. Eager to see the designs now.
Thats Peterborough's ground![]()
if we had 2 promotions in a row, we'd fill it with folk wanting to see the flying pigs in brentford shirts.

Nice one LesboWill it contain fruits and nuts?

Thats plan A,B,C and D out the window.
Barratts dropping over 1,000 jobs, Redrow and Bovis having a clear out. Linden easing up on construction.

Peerhaps we need another comittee/working party set up to work out plan E.![]()
The Barratt news was announced last week...
Despite what some others may try to infer, there never has been any plan other than to sell GP to Barratts and build something at Lionel Road.
It's Lionel Road or bust, it really is that simple under this ownership.

We don't. If you were privvy to discussions you wouldn't be making these statements so everytime you do I will have to rebuff them to ensure this scaremongering is not considered fact.
What are you on about. Are you getting some sort of orgasmic pleasure out of your posts about plans A B C and D ? Otherwise, I really do wonder what are the purpose of your posts?
Do you know how many jobs are going at Barratts West London? Do you know if the plans for the Stadium and its enabling development are being put on ice or being accelerated?
We currently have one plan and everything rests on it, so forgive me if I am concerned.
Mark, I asked a question earlier about teh Bias report being the same committee or not as the one you mentioned.
Unfortunatly, nobody answered it.
Do i assume they are the same or two completly different working parties/committees?
Perhaps you would be good enough to clarify.

They are different reports. The pdf response from AFL is quite revealing and worth a read.
They are differnet reports, but that doesn't answer the question.
Is the Lionel Road Liason Group a different group to the Lionel Road Steering Group or are they one and the same and its a bit of a typo?
They are different. One concerns stakeholders in the project and the Steering group is dedicated to channelling information to Brentford supporters and providing them with an opportunity to be consulted and comment on the scheme.
If you believe that is that case (and it is not) then why refer to Plans A B C and D.
Calm down to a panic eh.
You are bees52_bomber and I claim my £5.We currently have one plan and everything rests on it, so forgive me if I am concerned.
JBN is expressing a concern probably held by 99% of Brentford supporters regarding this project. I don't really see why he is being slaughtered for asking a legitimate question - what happens if Barratt's pull out? "Don't worry, we know what we're doing" seems inadequate, in the circumstances.

JBN seems to want to use the uncertainty over Barratts current position to take a pop at Bees United for not having a gold-plated Plan B with which to save BFC. Indeed he even seems to be relishing the prospect that the Lionel Road plans will fall through. I sincerely hope I've read him wrong, but that is the way it comes across to me.
None, according to the chap from Barratt West London who I met with today. That suggests to me that Barratts don't see as bleak an outlook for the London market as they may do for other areas in the country.![]()
Because he keeps expressing this opinion and was told the answer weeks ago. If he keeps expressing it, he will be told the answer again and again to ensure that Brentford supporters know this the truth on this matter.
The reply was not "Don't worry, we know what we're doing", as you well know.
I have no idea what the plan would be if Barratt's dropped out of the game.I do not well know.I have no idea what the plan would be if Barratt's dropped out of the game.
In the meantime all these questions are speculation based on hypotheticals. Barratts are still working on the project and so are Brian Burgess, Chris Gammon, Mike Power, Greg Dyke and Donald Kerr on behalf of BFC and BU.
You're a project manager by trade so you'll understand the need to do risk management. However, I note the defensive position that everyone's adopted so there's little point in pursuing any further.
Except to say of course that there is no way I would "well know" what the alternative is because it's not something that has been shared as far as I can see.
I am told Barratts have temporarily halted construction on the private housing section of the their Great West Road development, but are completing the affordablle housing elements, as I guess demand for such property from Housing Association's and others continues unabated. While this kind of housing may not be as profitable for the developer, if there are institutional buyers standing by for such property than there is the possibilty this may be considered as an initial phase for development.

2. Whether the club is owned by BU or anyone else, continually borrowing against the value of Griffin Park is not sustainable. This is exactly what Ron Noades did as owner, and our objective has to be to reduce the cash requirements of the club. Ultimately this will be determined by the Board of the Football Club (which includes BU representatives such as myself), and it is a tough challenge. The football league shows a consistent picture of clubs living beyond their means, and the increasing numbers of clubs in crisis is a direct result. Let me be explicit: without the financial support of Matthew Benham and some of our BFC Board Directors the football club is not financially viable. The 08/09 cash requirements are likely to be even more than in 07/08, so the challenge to keep Brentford FC alive is bigger than ever.
MY VERDICT: Making material reductions in the cash requirements of the club is a huge challenge for the BFC Board. It will take time and a united effort to achieve.
3. It is questionable whether we will ever be able to break-even at Griffin Park – it would involve reducing the cash requirements each year (through reduced costs and increased income) by approximately £700k. That equates to a third of all current income, or nearly half the current playing budget. Our best hope of breaking even is to get a new stadium at Lionel Road. Good progress is being made by Brian Burgess and Chris Gammon, although any project like this takes a long time and is fraught with difficulties. BU gives Brentford a community aspect which is a great help in overcoming planning objections

It seems to me that the defensive position is there because of the person who asked the initial question and the tone used to ask it.
Plenty of comments in the papers over the weekend regarding the financial problems Barratt are having at the moment. Particularly them facing the possibility of selling off their commercial property division which I'm guessing may be handling the LR project (?).

While I'm sure LR/Griffin Park project is a profitable one for Barratt, do we have a plan B if Barrat are forced to shelve the project becuase of their current circumstances? Is there another developer that could step in and take over the rights to LR from them should they withdraw?
First question: Yes.
Second question: hopefully we don't have to find out!

And then off it went on its merry little GPG jaunt, led by a couple of BU reps who treat you with distain when you have the audacity to ask a question
You keep repeating inaccuracies so to stop fiction becoming fact I have to keep correcting you.
I understand from a previous post that you say that Brian Burgess has not contacted you. I was cc'd into an email from him to you on the 3rd of July. I will forward this to you again.![]()
