Nobody would advocate a 10,000 stadium. With Lionel Road you have a location & infrastructure rivaled by none. We would all love a 20,000 ground with the best conference & hotel facilities in the area, A closing roof that could compete with Wembley Arena for pop concerts. A rugby team with a large following that brings in extra income.... But we have to look realistically, We have no rich chairman like Reading, The rugby team could be London Welsh & we are skint. For Brentford to move forward we have to move to Lionel Road but a happy medium must be sort.

The one option financially to achieve the above which always gets kneejerk opposition & ridicule is ground sharing with another football club in the area, but in time this would lead sadly to a merger, but could create a West London team playing at the highest level.

that is not correct, as i found out last year, there is a possible 5000 increase if the stadium requires it at a later date.

JA: Difficult question to answer at this stage. We will be designing a 20,000 capacity stadium, with an opportunity for another 5,000 seats. We want a roof structure that is cheap to maintain, with no fancy arches. The benefit of a flat roof is that you can have advertising, which will provide the club with an income stream. Most of the community hub building will be 4 or 5 stories. In the southern end of the site we could make a case for 9 stories.

It would mean the extinction of Brentford FC.

There are already two West London clubs in the Premiership and one in the Championship. If we were to ground share with any of these who do you think is going to get 'merged'.

It probably wouldn't but if you groundshare with a local rival who also has billions to possibly spend and create a premier club. You are probably creating a death of the less wealthy club as the new ground will be known as theirs with us as the poor relation.
Sharing with a good Rugby club is probably the best way forward as both Reading & Wycombe are proving.

It's just typical Brentford fortune isn't it. That said, it will turn around, it's just how the club's existence is funded in the meantime which is perhaps the most worrying aspect.

Thanks to Matthew Benham the interest that we pay is now minimal (£52k for the last financial year) but the massive debt that you passed on to us takes its toll plus of course your managing to run up a bank overdraft of £4.5m from a standing start which had to be covered in the re-financing. We're trying to get out of League Two on probably the 7th or 8th highest playing budget in this League and you'll be pleased to know that the 'prime plot of land between M4 and R. Thames' (copyright David Waddington) is still being used for football.

If we achieve promotion this year, will the increased revenue from Div1 be sufficient to make us financially able to last beyond 2012 at Griffin Park? - or even to 2012?

Would the wage bill for playing in the higher division substantially impact upon any decrease in losses? - or is it believed we can compete in Div 1 at current playing budget levels?

If we don't gain promotion, will our playing budget have to be decreased?

Sorry if the q's are badly phrased but the situation does look dire & I would be interested to get an informed opinion re the alternatives if a delay of the Lionel Rd project takes place.

The considerably increased revenue both from FL payments plus substantially higher away support attendances plus hopefully better home support would go a long way towards the break-even point. I believe that we could break even in League One within two years given the right CEO and a bit of luck

This would be a matter for the board and it hasn't been discussed yet although it would be one of the more pleasant problems to have.

Same answer as immediately above except it would be one of the more unpleasant problems to have. The relegation was a disaster and I happen to believe that at any time the board of directors has two important decisions to get right being the appointments of the team manager and the CEO. In 2006-07 there was the 'Perfect Storm' where we got both wrong simultaneously.
Sorry if the answers are not as comprehensive as you would wish but it's the best that I can do for the moment. Getting out of this division is critical and we should never ever have been in this position.
