The officials today were shocking...CD was pulled & shoved & rarely got anything off the ref yet they only had to be challenged at times & got a free kick plus if they were on the ground as a result it was a booking for us.

Should have added on more than 4 mins after the Dean injury, at the end of the match.

The ref ruined our chances of building on our equaliser due him being so whistle happy.

Fussy was the word and some strange fouls given when it seemed just a fair challenge, one by Tom stands out.

He also seemed to have judged both Forrester and DC as "simulators" and gave them nothing all game when there in fact appeared to be several clear fouls. DC spent so much time on his back that his kit was almost white from line markings.

Penalty was very harsh as well.

Watching FL show, he was in a good position for penalty it seemed but how he got it so wrong is beyond me. If it was a penalty, how on earth did he not then send him off, as although there were plenty others in area, he was then supposedly denying a goal scoring opportunity...
In my opinion, never a penalty. As been said - if that was given then for every free kick and corner there will always be a penalty as everyone tries to find their position. He fell.over trying to grab HD and as he moved aside he fell over in a heap.

On TV it looked as if Harlee had got on the wrong side of the attacker and then put his arms on him and leant on him. Again, the camera angle was not good but you could certainly see why it was given even if it was really harsh and soft.

BTW I see that Harry has been criticised on the GPG and I am sure that those present are all good judges but he scored a goal and it was a sublime chip by him that opened the way for Clayton's lob just wide (great effort by the way).

Of course we want consistency and effort from HF and for him to ensure that his work has an end result but I would prefer a player who can open up a defence with one pass like he can - and did.

This ref from memory is a right homer, he has given us 2 penalties in 3 successive games a few years ago, Aldershot, Southend and Southampton?? Anyway he pleases the home fans and I knew he'd give them one as that is what he does.

Was very worried before the match to see we had a rookie ref and he seemed a tad nervous looking around at the atmosphere as the teams walked out. However I've got to say that he had an excellent game and never noticed him after that, kept the game flowing and didn't flash any cards - not that he really needed to mind you. Not sure what the harassing of him by a couple of Pompey players at half time and again at full time was all about.

All throughout the game Whittingham and his assistant AA (Andy Awford?) were moaning at the 4th Official about every decision that went against them. I know a lot of Coaches do this as a matter of course, but have seen plenty of "non moaners" the last few seasons, since the dug outs have been in NR.

Failed to play advantage in the first half when Bidwell got fouled and the ball fell to Saunders in the box which he volleyed in.

Other than that he was ok, didn't seem phased by their players protests.

Apart from maybe letting Agyemang get too much of his own way, I thought he was rather good. Most refs would have booked Toums and/or blow up but he rightly played advantage to them and gave Toums a little warning when play stopped

Thought the same mate- the ball staying in play for so long did Toumani a favour as the ref had acknowledged to the fouled player that he'd seen it and would take action.

I thought Agyemang was as poor as I've seen, he was slow, clumsy and not so much dirty more awkward. Akinde gave Harlee a much harder 10 minutes and glad he stayed on bench so long.

Must have been ok as I did not really notice him, seemed to be happy for the game to be played in a physical nature and waived away claims for fouls for both sides

Good to see that this thread doesn't just get used for having a go at Attwell and D'Urso.

Thought yesterday's was very good. Although I did think he let Agyemang get away with too much - not just the strongarm stuff, but stupidly staying in the wrong half after they scored their first goal and delaying the kickoff. I thought they might have been moaning at half time about a challenge by Harlee on Agyemang near the NR touchline, but they were moaning at full time as well so I guess it was just what they do.

Apart from blowing too early in the first half his only other mistake was only adding on 4 minutes at the end. As the flare was on the pitch for a good 2 minutes at least, but I can forgive him for that!

Pretty sure he's the midget who is capable of both ends of the scale - remember he pranced and preened around Adams Park before awarding Wycombe a penalty and also sending off James Wilson in the night game when it was Chesney vs them. However, to balance it up, thought he did a very good job at GP earlier this season but escapes me who we played.

Mr Stroud has been a Football League referee since the start of the 2004/05 season and has taken charge of ten Brentford games in that time.

He refereed Brentford’s last two trips to Wycombe Wanders, one in November 2009 when The Bees lost 1-0 – Mr Stroud gave a debatable penalty, another which was saved by Wojciech Szczesny and sent off James Wilson in the defeat, and one in September 2011 when Kevin O’Connor scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot.

He also awarded The Bees a penalty the last time he took charge of a Brentford match – a late one scored by Harry Forrester in October’s win over Coventry City.

His first Brentford game was a Boxing Day defeat to Torquay United in 2004.

He took charge of Brentford’s League One Play-Off draw with Swansea City in South Wales in May 2006, sending off Stuart Nelson, and the 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town in January 2006 when he sent off Ricky Newman and visiting goalkeeper Paul Rachubka.

Refs have to declare any clubs they are associated with or support, and shouldn't be appointed to their games or games affecting them. I think the conspiracy theorists need to look elsewhere.

Stroud was until recently the referee development manager for Hampshire and yes he is from the area and was on the same referees society as one of my friends.Has issued more red cards than the Kremlin !!
Just because he has now moved from the area does not detract from the fact that he has spent most of his life in and around Bournemouth and refereed on various leagues in that area including the Wessex League.

Michael Naylor from South Yorkshire is the man in the middle at Hartlepool on Saturday.

Looks like the powers that be have found a good way of stopping us from getting automatic promotion, i.e. by selecting refs to take charge of our matches who happen to support other clubs in the promotion race!! Could it be that Manish and Claridge have had a word with one or two people in high places to make sure that they STILL don't have to mention us on the Football League Show?!!

Absolutely atrocious refereeing.

Donaldson sending off was for second yellow yet his second yellow he clearly slipped and into the player, not slid.
Kitson, already on a yellow, done a worse tackle on Moore!! No second yellow, encroaching on a free kick, also a second yellow card offence - yet nothing.
Their keeper denied a goal scoring opportunity - yellow? What the hell!!
Our second penalty, how was it a second yellow and not a straight red?? Again denied scoring opportunity which is red... I know he was still sent off but it means he misses 1 game not 3..
Dave and Kitson yellow could have been avoided to be fair by just a gentle word in their ears. He got the book out more times than he certainly needed.

I've never liked this bloke, seems to love dishing out the penalties and red cards every time we have him.

Felt he lost control of the game early on and seemed very uneasy with the vociferous home crowd. Just felt at half time something was going to happen and be would dictate the outcome of the match. Just very incompetent, seemed to want an opportunity to even things out after giving us a penalty first half then bowed to the pressure in particular from the home crowd to send off Donaldson.

As someone else mentioned on the way out the ground, surely a match of this magnitude required a Premier League referee?

Agree totally ! This idiot was born in Bournemouth,refereed local league(Wessex) & still lives in Dorset (Gillingham).What the hell are the FL thinking appointing him to "officiate" in a game involving his hometown teams nearest rivals ?! Unbelieveable ! Devlin should be raising this matter with the FL when he appeals the 2 Red cards !

Heard from people here in Pornmuff here that Keith Stroud was from Bournemouth, went to Winton School and went to Bournemouth games when he grew up.

Cherries fans I know when i told them it was Stroud who was reffing and sent off 2 players and gave 2 pens against us, said 'ha ha but hes a Bournemouth supporter!' He has reffed Bournemouth games before but im assuming has never declared. Coincidence that 2-2 was the perfect result for the Cherries?

And now a referee on Saturday from Sheffield. This has gone beyond a joke

The system for designating officials needs to be reviewed as it is clearly failing. I would guarantee if this was the Premier League something would have been done by now.

had a look at the Sheffield Utd forum after the match. They also mentioned Stroud was from Bournemouth, and were upset the game was ruined for both sets of supporters.

Considering Bournemouth are 2nd, Brentford are 3rd, and the Blades are 4th - a loss or draw for Brentford was always going to work in Bournemouths favour.

He ruined the match with the unnecessary cards, and sabotaged our efforts, as now Donaldson and Craig are out, weakening us, and upsetting the consistency of the team we normally put out.

I don't know how deliberate, or if it was in his subconcious acting out - but I agree with everyone else that it was a mistake letting him referee a game like this.

If he costs us our chance of promotion, I think this will be need to be reviewed, so that it never happens again in future ..
