Rico Henry

Rico Henry

Wont be seeing him again for a couple of months I am afraid
Really?

It looks horrendous, but at the same time head injuries always look worse.

Stiches and recovery normally a couple of weeks. Couple more weeks longer looking at how deep it is.

I would be devastated if it was longer then a month. Hes had no luck.

Play with head protection?

Rico Henry

A bull dog clip and some gaffa tape he’ll he be fine.

Presumably TF pre-Everton press conference today will give an indication as to whether Rico (and Matthias) will feature this weekend, and if not, seriousness of their injuries/how much longer before they return.

Both (? - well Rico definitely) were running around as usual in the recent training video on twitter, took that as good news when I saw it

Jensen did the full 90 v Villa in the friendly earlier in the week so I think it’s fair to assume he’s good to go.

Probably my MOM. But I can’t be the only one that had their heart in one’s mouth when Zaha went down at the end. I thought this ref may have given it.

Rico Henry

Never a penalty. What I can’t understand is why he wasn’t given a yellow card for simulation.
Because there was still physical contact, even though Zaha was looking for it. Rico did have his arms around him.

Still not sure why we didn't get a pen for their handball in the first half. Norgaard push, my eye!

Exactly, he went down like a sack of spuds. Still think he should have been carded for simulation, as you say. He was looking for it .

Clear push by Norgaard before the handball from my angle in North Stand.

This ref is such a turd it wouldn’t have surprised me. Never a penalty though and would have been harsh on Rico who was excellent again.

yes just seen the highlights, looked like Zaha was attacked by the way he went down. Honestly, didn't think a player could annoy me more than Ayew last two years but Zaha and Fernandes (United) are right up there.

If only he had a right foot!! Couple of times he had a chance to put it back in but turned out to get it onto his left, same with Janelt.. Did well again today though, really settling into it now.

Oh dear, he is back. Negative then the positive. I am quite sure most will agree, Rico more or less settled in sooner than most.

Rico is out of contract in the summer of 2023. I would assume we've offered him a new contract, but if he doesn't sign, I expect we'll sell him this summer.

Rico Henry

I always thought he was a bit like Ijah in that he didn't offer a great deal in advanced positions. Tbf, in previous seasons we had enough up front to frighten any side anyway. This season he has grown into the attacking aspects of his WB role and to do this at EPL level is really impressive. I think he is a top four defender and a mid-table attacker. There are parallels with Ashley Cole here.

Rico Henry

I am unaware of an option which makes it obvious what will happen this summer unless he signs an extension/new contract

I am sure you're right that he will be one of our next 'crown jewels' to sell. However, we generally don't do this unless we have replacements lined up. And at the moment, we don't. Dom Thompson was the big hope, but is nowhere near.

I am expecting A LOT of transfer activity in the summer, both ins and outs.

Spot on.

This is what will probably (IMHO) prevent him being top top class. Brilliant at chasing back and tackling a right winger, and while he has a good cross on him, his shooting is pretty dire. Better fullback than wing back. It is fairly clear that when he gets the ball in a tight position he is limited in his options and regularly passes back when a better option would be to cut inside and go forwards. But as we have said in the past, if he could do everything, he wouldn't be playing for us.
