WhoScored ratings are
….utter mince.

Just look at the subs. Henderson had a clear involvement in the final goal with a lovely interchange with Damsgaard and yet scores lower than Nelson.

It’s the football manager-ification of footy and it’s very silly!

Rico Henry

He's been out for ages and surprise surprise he is getting better and better as he gets more game time.

Rico Henry

Ironically I thought against Chelsea that he was OK but ultimately Hickey is better and would be my first choice for the rest of the season fitness permitting

I just feel he is a bit too rushed and manic, and and will never quite get to the levels he had

I wouldn't be averse to him extending as he has experience, is a good guy and a reliable, indeed good, player. I just think if we really want to push on he doesnt quite offer enough to be automatic first choice

Have to admit I thought the same against Chelsea

I'm unconvinced by Hickey as a left back. I see Henry and Meghoma as our left backs next season and Kayode and Hickey as our right backs. I'd be very happy with that.

I think Rico has pace that Hickey doesnt have, Rico is also better going forward imo. Whilst Hickey is a good squad player i can get frustrated with him when so often he turns to play the ball back along the line of the defence without exploring the forward options. Both good players but Rico is the better outlet imo.

It’s impossible to compare both in the Chelsea game – how we played in the 80 minutes Henry was playing and how we played in the 15 minutes with Hickey were very different. Rico had a lot of difficulty coping with Neto and James while Aaron was really left midfield, even getting a shot off.

True. I'm a little worried about his pace now though, might be playing himself back in but Rico was all about pace. If you want the left back to solely defend I think I'd choose Hickey at the moment

It’s all debatable and Hickey has time on his side. Keith’s style of play requires a lot of power and pace and being able to rotate both keeps up the momentum – the decisions are about which one starts first and which one finishes.

When we build up with hickey at LB he plays on the left tof the back 3 and his calmness on the ball is very useful. When we build up with Rico in the side Janelt is the one in the back 3 and Rico stays high and wide as more of an outlet. Gives us more width down the left but doesn't make the best use of Janelt. In later phases Hickey is better at combining with the attackers and midfielders while Rico is better at making the runs. Horses for courses, but I'd say hickey is better in games where we expect to have more of the ball

As much as I think he’s a good player I think it’s time for Henry to go. Hes only good defensively 1vs1 that’s all. Hes a target in the air as he’s small and he can’t go forward. Yes he’s quick but he can’t cross and definitely can’t shoot. If we can find a LB similar to Kayode that would be great and then Hickey can cover RB & LB

I also think that when we're facing a right winger who can go either way, Hickey's two-footedness gives us a better option. A fast winger should see Rico playing.

Rico getting forward into the box led directly to the crucial second goal against Burnley. Hickey wouldn’t have been in that position.

It doesn't read like you think he's a good player at all,you might as well have left that first bit out.

Rico Henry

I'm a massive fan but it's testament to the club management that we continued to develop while he was sadly sidelined. I still see brilliance and he'll always be a favourite but wonderfully we have options. It's at this point in the sentence where I start to assume it's all some weird dream.

Rico’s 100th PL game tomorrow if he gets on the pitch against Forest.

For a man who has had some pretty serious injuries it shows not only has he got an incredible amount of talent to play 100 games at the top level but the determination to overcome the injuries means he deserves an even bigger shout of ‘Rico’ tomorrow.

An outstanding achievement and the games in red and white haven’t finished yet.

Rico Henry

Not a great performance, not an opponent that suits Rico’s profile as a player I don’t think.

Rico Henry

I dpnt understatement how someone with 100 PL games under his belt, and a good player, can so often look utterly panicked when he gets the ball or tries to challenge for it.

Rico Henry

Let’s be honest his final pass and cross has always been poor and it’s got no better.

2nd half he just reverted to passing the ball backwards to Collins. Roerslev used to get loads of stick for doing the same thing.

Unfortunately Hickey came on and showed no attacking imagination either.

Rico Henry

Fabulous loyalty and service to the club. But Sergei on loan showed what Rico lacked in his attacking game. When you think of the injuries he carried he has done so well; but the first 20 minutes against Arsenal and today made my mind up. I hope he gets the German offer and takes it with huge love and thanks.
Hickey and KPL now; Maghoma next year.

Rico Henry

Yes

Even Southgate said to me whilst England manager (seriously!) that this was his problem.
That's very interesting.

He looks to me like he's understandably lost his blistering pace since the big injury(s). It used to bail us and him out at times, but now his short comings are more obvious because he doesn't have the get out of jail free card.

I'd still say he's our best option at LB, but he's clearly not what he was.

Who knows, if it wasn't for the injuries he'd have gotten a big move and would have played for Tuchel's England by now.

Rico Henry

Defended well against the tricky Hudson-Odoi but struggled coming forward

You want to convert a right-footed midfield player to left-back? Or are you mixing up your M*ghomas??

Agree, the coming forward bit on the left side totally disappeared when Hickey came on. I think we expect a lot from Rico but in truth that quality final ball from him when going forward, has always been a challenge.

Yep. I was surprised we didn’t bring KLP on instead of Hickey. We were crying out for another attacking outlet.
