Didn't he sign a 3 year one when he signed, taking him to summer 2012?

If so, then no.

i'd stick another year on the one he has :sorted: we have a few on contracts through to 2013, so adding another one won't make a difference! :banghead:

Sam Saunders

Our record in the league in games with Saunders in the starting line up is .............

P6 W5 D1 L0

Sam Saunders

Are you condoning subtle digs about no longer being made to hug the line?

I was

Also the point about being afraid to try things in case you make a mistake cos you'll be taken off.

Am i no longer allowed to enjoy Brentford because i disagreed with you about AS ?

That day in the boardroom has gone to your head. :D:fishing:

WTF! Keep your shirt on.:D

You can support them as little or as much as you want but I was simply pointing out that our Sam was having a little pop or two and you posted for him to keep it going.:D

Only joking mate, i am just glad he is showing what we all know he is capable of.

I'd given up on him, he went from my most exciting signing ever to the new Ian Bolton in my head, I was telling a Leeds scum how we would be fighting off bids for him in Jan during his first season and then wanted him shipped out asap.
He's just brilliant to watch at times, some of his flicks to get him out of tight areas are just beautiful to watch, his delivery is as good as I can remember watching.

Sam Saunders

has to be one of most talented players in our league. his delivery from open play and dead ball is superb

Sam Saunders

It is great to see him rejuvenated, and showing what he can do.
It was very telling that Sam Wood spoke so highly of him , when interviewed on Beesplayer , before , and after, last night's game. He explained how Saunders works so very hard in training, and also how he can cause much damage to opponents with his varied positional play and his quality delivery etc.
Saunders is, indeed, now looking a real good player, and one that can use either foot to strike or create with.
Let us hope he can continue this fine form....

I didn't like him because he can't defend and that was what was needed in Scott's system. I accept now that it was the system that was wrong though - although I have a knot in my stomach that says when everyone cottons on to our new approach, we will get lots of Tranmere's turning up to kick the **** out of him.

Sam Saunders

Our record in the league in games with Saunders in the starting line up is .............

P6 W5 D1 L0
And since he started his first match this season, ALL first team results have been as follows:

9 Nov to 11 Dec (SS in side): W3 D1 L1 (the "draw" ended up being a win on penalties in the JPT);
14 Dec to 1 Feb (SS out injured): W1 D3 L6 (one of the "draws" ended up being a win on penalties in the JPT);
5 Feb to date: (SS in side) W3 D1 L0

In summary, when starting in the side since 9 Nov, the overall record is W6 D2 L1 (see above re one of the draws).
Whereas, when he has been out of the side, the overall record is W1 D3 L6 (see above re one of the draws).

Not exactly conclusive over a fairly short time frame, but it makes interesting reading...

That will be a problem for sam and the manager, whoever that may be, it might possibly why Bean is enjoying and extended run as he can operate as an "enforcer" to give Sam some physical protection. However one thing I have noticed is that Sam has a "nasty" side as well and I would imagine he is probably quite capable of getting his retaliation in first!!

Sam Saunders

Here's a tip - watch the Exeter video and stay on your wing when the balls the other side of the park. Don't get in the way of the forwards and don't find yourself ten yards away from the winger on the wrong of the pitch.

Sam Saunders

Here is my tip Sam, keep doing what you are doing, I really enjoy watching it.

Sam Saunders

No doubt about it the greater freedom he has is paying dividends but I did wonder when he and Weston were passing the ball between them on the right wing if it was quite right positionally??? Weston soon after switched back to the left it has to be said.

I think the RB is always going to have a busy time when SS is in front of them, maybe why Neilson has been brought in....

Sam Saunders

Thank heavens that this boy has been given the chance to do what he's now doing. The way he sprays the ball around is top quality.

To think that, in my opinion, it seemed that he was been frozen out of the club and could have ended up going elsewhere in January for presumably little to no money. That would have been criminal.

Sam Saunders

he needs a new contract asap...

Sam Saunders

Enjoys the freedom to roam over the park with the blessing of NF. Shows intelligence with his passing movement and his fitness levels have improved considerably. A confidence player who has benefited from the regime of NF. Keep doing what your doing and sod the Exeter video!!!!

Sam Saunders

I would rather have a right winger attacking the back post instead of taking it off the left wingers and not having anyone to cross too. Its what most right wingers try to do so there must be something about it.

So you would rather a Shakes, Williams, Taylor, Brooker and Newton type of player?

Or do you mean a Grabban or Simpson type?

I really don't care when it comes to Sam Saunders, he creates openings and passes intelligently, sometimes when others should be reading them and not waiting  He is playing, at present, similarly to the way he played at Dagenham, coming inside, switching wings, staying wide ie. mixing it up. I like it.

so you dont want players in the team who create a goal with a defence splitting pass or a quality cross, i suppose u'd rather have a winger who can run like the wind, can't control the ball properly can't cross, and struggles to actually find a simple pass. but as long as they attack the back post ay?:sorted:

No I don't. Why do you think I want that? No, someone who is attacking the far post when the ball is out wide will do me. Likes lots of other teams do - and like Saunders did fantastically well against Exeter and Simpson has done countless times this season.

Anyone remember Andy Sinton?

Sam Saunders

Anyone remember Andy Sinton?

Another ex that 'betrayed us' for South Africa Road

You haven't spent £500 on his shirt have you? Is he coming back too? :(

Didn't he play more left side though

Anyway, I'm happy with a creative midfielder we have in Sam Saunders, he may not be an attacking right winger who pops up at the far post, but he is quality and what we've been missing and what some of us had been calling for. :sorted:

Sam Saunders

I agree but its about picking the right moment and I don't always believe that 10 yards away from the left winger is the best position.

Sam's only fault, if it is, is sometimes he tries too hard or has a rush of blood to his head!

you can`t have been to many away games that he has played in.this is personal, man up what is it?

Behave yourself  I can understand the point Les is making even if I don't happen to agree with it. I don't necessarily believe having the two wingers ending up on the same wing together is the right thing either but IMO that's a minor negative against all the positives which Sam brings to the side.

So do I, he's the creative player we were all shouting for but the arrogant, stubborn manager wouldn't play him until injuries forced him too. Some people on here are so bitter that their wonderful young manager has rightly been kicked out of the club that they are looking for any excuse to have a pop. I would say the're not real supporters.

I would say that you need to give it a rest and stop peddling your obnoxious unpleasant nonsense about people who may have different opinions but are as much of a supporter as you are.

So it's nonsense that the previous Manager wouldn't pick Sam Saunders ?.......as for other supporters, the last few matches have seen the players being allowed to express themselves which has resulted in the majority of fans enjoying coming to Griffin Park. Perhaps you didn't notice the crowd was 5900 yesterday, do you think it could have anything to do with what's going happening on the pitch ? The problem is some are already too quick to critisize the tactics of a young caretaker Manager who I believe is doing a very good job.

My thoughts on Sam's positional sense has nothing whatsoever to do with Andy Scott. I think you need to move on my friend.

Of course I've noticed the improvement on the pitch  Who was your post aimed at ? I've hardly seen any criticism of Forster since he took over, and rightly so because the vast majority of it has been great. A few observations regarding use of substitutions maybe but very little else. Who are these bitter supporters you've highlighted ? And where is this criticism that makes them less of a supporter than you ?

Sam Saunders

Quite frankly. if his brief is to roam over the pitch to good effect thats fine with me. It may have some disadvantages but IT does provide for a creative style of play and more opportunities for a passing game. All matter of opinions, the style of play prior to NF was quite frankly not worth travelling from Faversham , I could see that standard of football for free down the recreation ground on a Sunday morning.

So arrogant and stubborn that he signed him in the first place. No one was complaining when Saunders got dropped last season, because he was playing crap.

You obviously hate Scott, just give it a rest, no one wants to talk about it any more.

Sam Saunders

Some healthy discussion on this, Saunders is a maverick type of player, he is the person that polarises opinions.

He is a League 1 player, so his flaws are evident, but he has skill that stands out which is the ability to create an opening and ultimately on his day a matchwinner. To counter act that, the team have to accomodate him, Scott's philosophy was the team and formation came first, Sam openly admits this was a struggle for him.

For Forster, Saunders is the vision, he makes the team tick, so the freedom is his, he plays off the cuff and with instinct and the best way to view Saunders contributions is that his wandering won't cost you the game, but more often than not, he will create something to win the game. :sorted:

Forster has unshackled his buddy and Brentford have the equivalent of a brand new signing. I can cope with abherrations and indiscipline in not holding his position, this is League 1 after all, but Saunders has the ability to produce football and skill that brings a smile and admiration that he plays for us! If Sam plays well = The Bees usually win, this seems a vital part of the Forster vision. Happy to continue with this vision for the forseeable future! ;)

Sam Saunders

I must have missed something but I feel he puts in a shift when defending.Positionally he may roam around but on balance what he gives to us far outweighs his shortcomings.

Exactly my thoughts too.

Sam Saunders

He's lucky that NF allows him such a free role, I am not sure many managers would and not just AS.

We've missed a playmaker since Tabby went so it is good to see one back but I think there may be some games where he will have to be more disciplined in his positional play or we will get overrun in the middle.
