Revisionist history.....Scott done well for the club after the departure of Butcher and by getting us out of league 2.
It's clear he has signed some duds in his time, but accessed some gems too.
ROB seems to cite Glenn Poole and Alan Connell as examples of bad Scott business.
I 'll leave you with that thought.
Glenn Poole signed for us on May 17 2007. Was he on loan before that?
Butcher joined the club in April and Scott in May 2007 the latter with knowledge of players from the non league scene in the South East.
Glenn Poole signs from Grays, a South East Non League side, two weeks later.
Alan Connell signed in July 2007. Connell originates from Enfield and the previous year to signing he had made his league debut after gaining promotion from the Conference with Hereford.
Butcher would have known jack sh*t about either player as he was in Australia until early 2007 so you can draw your own conclusions.
Simon Brown palyed for Colchester 140 times before playing 49 games in Scotland over three season the last of which Butcher was in Australia!
Glenn Poole, Simon Brown and Alan Connell were all once of Tottenham Hotspur FC. Coincidence? Does Andy Scott have a decent contact at Spurs?
Or were they all Butchers own work?
If I recall Basey and Pettigrew were the only two players Butcher had any involvement in signing, ie he watched Basey once in a friendly against a non league side pre season and Pettigrew came in with a set of new showers for the Home dressing room as part of the Chelsea Reserves deal done by his mate Keith.
Sammy Moore came from Butcher's old club Ipswich but I think the contact there was even Scott's as future signings appears to confirm.
Starosta came from Scotts old club Sheffield, Hamer we know about, Mackie and Thorpe were ex playing colleagues of Scott.
Future numerous signings by Scott in his own right as manager show those that want to talk about football, all you need to know about Scott the Scout.
Few Hits among so many Misses.
Give me something else to write about please like who can we persuade to come in as his replacement.
