Should Scott Go?

This is ridiculoius.

WE ARE BRENTFORD.

NOT LEEDS UNITED, SOUTHAMPTON, MAN U, REAL MADRID, or BRAZIL

We are a mid-ranking League 1 team. We can play ugly football if we want to, that is League 1. We are not under performing giants, we are Brentford in the 3rd tier.

How many times???

You all talk like we are Liverpool in this league, in fact we are no higher than Brentford's historical position over the last 60 years.

Yes we could do better like Blackpool or Scunny, but you can't expect the manager to be sacked if we don't hit that massive standard of over-achievement.

Yes we are not playing great but is that sackable offence? No!!!

We have been in and around the promotion places enough times in L1 to be more than a mid ranking L1 side, as our budget would suggest. Also L1 isnt all ugly football alot of teams at least attempt to pass it. You shouldnt just settle for hoofball and assume thats all this level of football is coz that is doing the league a dis-service.

No one has set ridiculous expectations. We dont expect to romp the league but we expect to hold our own and finish top half (isnt the plan from the club not the supporters to be in and around the PO'S?), neither of which look possible ATM.

I reckon you are spot on, we are the Liverpool of our league, we've spent a fair bit of money but are doing sh*t, the 2nd bit needs you to dare to dream, times are a changing but I fear you won't embrace the change.

I do sometimes wonder (and this goes for both sides) if people actually read threads before they respond. I personally am expecting Champions League football, nothing less.

In terms of resources available we have under-achieved this season. How many of our managers in the past had money like this, relatively? If we do not take advantage of the MB funding we will probably never get another chance. If the board are taking a relaxed three-year view then good for them, I hope they have made the correct judgement for, if they are wrong, then we will be in real trouble.

I've fine toothed combed the code of conduct and it appears that "Walliyish" is indeed allowed as a name to call someone.

Technical point also that he called the comments wallyish rather than calling rwbee a wally. Clowngate, Rebus vs The Crown 2008

When did Scott befriend this weird and wonderful Mr RWemploy as his head of PR and generally insane rambling??

He is not quite right is he?

Sorry Andy, he's just one more (to add to the 60 plus) sh*te signing and another of those imaginary friends you've made.

But if I was you, I'd bin him off now... Super quick!

He's not helping you at all, with his madness. Poor fella.

Quite wrong really, like a Troll, but just mad and Munchausen. Don't look at me!

Some fantastically rubbish stuff written on here over the past few hours, and thankfully not all of it by me.

I notice a couple of comments on the abuse that Wally and Leroy got. Let me remind everyone now, for the same reason that Wally and Leroy got 'abuse' then is why AS is getting negative comments now. That is although we do not think of ourselves as Liverpool or Man Utd, League Two football is not tolerable - we are better than that. If there is any danger we could slip back there, expect things to get NASTY. I make no apologies.

This will all change when we lose at Plymouth and Colchester.

(in response to Wayfarer172) Great Support ! - Looking forward to your prediction on the soon to be created prediction thread...:puppy:

I'm getting really fed up with the sarcastic "great support" line. Try running that one past those who have been going to GP for years but are losing heart. Since when was guessing that we were going to have bad results equivalent to "crap support" as you clearly imply? Are all those who did not need to be Mystic Meg to predict what was going to happen in Aldershot on Tuesday night "great supporters" as well?

A poll of 300/350 fans is hardly "most of the crowd" Sweepy  and the board wouldnt base any decision on a poll like this.
Our gates might be dwindling but a poll of 300/350 is hardly representative of the GP faithful

Rubbish. Research scientists would be delighted with a sampling poll of roughly 10 percent of the total population of a study. The one great thing about these forums is they do collect invaluable information from those who are registered. There are also strict rules on registration and multiple accounts meaning that all the responses in the poll can be attributed to an individual, and members are young and old, as you can tell from the memory lane threads. The club could not pay the GPG enough for the market information it provides.

When researchers send out 100 surveys, they can expect 1 returned. Which is why research is expensive and time consuming.

Should Scott Go?

I would ask those of you who want him to stay two questions.

1. Do you think he can keep us up this year.
2. Do you think he can get us to a position in the future to challenge at the top end of the table.

If the answer to BOTH of these questions is not YES then we are just wasting time delaying the inevitable.

1. Yes - although i think the more level headed "Scott out" poster accepts he'll not relegate us but they seem to be annoyed with his negative tactics/hoofball & the fact we aren't playing like Arsenal..:fishing:

2. Yes :sorted:

you assume we DON'T get behind the team, and i find that offensive. how the hell do you know this? i go to every game i can and have been doing so since 1975. i have never booed any brentford team or player. i shout myself hoarse at games.
"perhaps supporters should be thinking of getting behind the team"????? s/he hardly ever turns out to support the bees and accused fellow fans of blinkered prejudice. and this talk of the baying of the pack- i salute my fellow bees for their patience, i have not heard a single "scott out" through all the utter bilge we have had to endure. do NOT confuse message board comments with support at games.
perhaps i should think of getting behind the team... yes what a novel idea, that never occurred to me, thanks for the suggestion :mad1:

Hypa123 was correct in his get behind the team post, as i think he was picking up on a few posts in the Aldershot/MK dons match reports which mentioned "fans" booing our own players etc etc

Here in NewRoad, some of the rubbish shouted at our own players over the last few games was embarrassing (no these weren't the tactics from AS :nono:) and if anything unlikely to motivate, unless the modern day NewRoader thinks reverse psychology is the trick to get the players motivated..#This game not big enough for you # shouted at Myles recently.. Maybe it'll work :grey:

I'll leave you guys to continue going in circles till saturday

If your post was aimed at me regarding the "dogs abuse"that Wally got then fair enough.I liked Wally thought he was a sound football bloke, who is a very good coach as been proved by the bigger clubs he has been at since leaving us.I couldn't argue with his sacking whether we would have gone down if he stayed who knows, but l couldn't find any enthusiasm in joining the mob who were giving him the said dogs abuse. To a lesser degree the same with Leroy who l found to be a decent Bloke although his time with us was a disaster.Wonder how Andy Scott would have done on the budgets that those 2 had.

A self-selecting group can never be indicative of a large population.

Opinion Polls for matters such as General Elections are different, the sample is selected by the polling organisation to reflect the larger population.

Polls on the GPG cannot and should not be taken as "xx% of Brentford Supporters think...."

Obviously a GPG poll will more reflect the opinion of the entire BFC supporting population if more and more people vote on it. E.g. If a poll attacts 10 votes then if can be dismissed out of hand as reflecting BFC supporters' views as a whole. If 4,000 people vote then it will be very close.

You get the point.

In summary, this poll, like all others of the GPG, is not scientific

F- me is this thread still going? If he was going to be given the tin tack, the Board would have done it by now. God knows the performances have been bad enough to warrant it. But he hasn't, so i guess they wont. By the end of the year we will be in the bottom 4 and pretty much stay there or thereabouts until May. Will the last supporter to leave GP please turn out the light. :-(

He ain't going before then, so....it's about time the team and Andy pulled their fingers out...

The negativity will continue unless the team show their own positive attitude and if they manage that, then the fans all be behind them 100%.
It is down to the team to get a decent result this Saturday and put a stop to the negativity and gloom

What if we won the JPT? I want to go to Wembley to watch the bees at some point in the future, and I think the play-offs are going to take a little bit longer than this season. If we won the tin pot trophy and finished in a respectable position I wouldn't consider it a season completely wasted.

It would give me reason to think that AS has more left to give in his career with the bees.

Fair enough, but I still think the GPG provides a level of feedback that is useful to the club. To some extent all polls are 'self-selecting, as nobody is forced to take part and many would choose not to.

But we can also use other less scientific methods to find out what 3,500 to 4,000 people on a matchday think of AS these days. For instance, we could compare how many chants of "Oh Andy Scott" there is compared with a few months ago.

I could go on, but I think enough has been said, and now I have got others looking back at the thread and thinking that I originally stated that Wally received "dog's abuse" during his time at Brentford when I was simply responding to someone as to why he did. I think I shall be a spectator on this one for a bit, at least until 5pm tomorrow, but hopefully longer.

Sorry Sweepy this is wrong. What they would want is a sample that accurately reflects in terms of age, socioeconomic status, gender etc the population of interest. What you have here is a self-selecting sample, which researchers might take if they couldn't get anything else but they would not be 'delighted' with. I imagine, for example, that the sample represented on this site has a disproportionate number of the group normally categorised as 'slightly barking'! ;)
