From Hunt's point of view, would it be a good move (unless there was a big salary increase)? While Reading's ambitions are limited, they seem relatively safe, whereas Sunderland seem likely to be fighting relegation - and if they lost Kenwyne Jones for an extended period, I think they'd be in real danger

as MarkanyonebutBrentfordFc will tell you, marriage coming up, better wages, might be the deciding factor.

Whatever his thoughts on MA, it was probably the best thing that ever happened to him.

Sunderland have increased there offer to £4.5m, to think we got shot of him !

Stephen Hunt (retired)

Jeez.

And no sell-on fee either.

Football is really really unfair.

It was Martin Allen's decision to release Stephen and in all honesty he would have left on a Bosman anyway that summer I reckon.

I wouldn't shed too many tears. It's done and dusted. Let's hope Michael Turner goes for a fortune and that eases the pressure.

Apparently in todays Guardian:-

Reading have told Sunderland to forget their interest in midfielder Stephen Hunt after the Black Cats made an improved £4.5m offer for the Irishman. (The Guardian)

Before any of you dozey liberals get the stupid idea that I bought a copy or looked at someonelses copy of the Guardian this morning, I cut and pasted this from the BBC Website.;)

Is it true we only get the money if he goes to a prem club mate? Or will C**tic suffice?

Brilliant moment, a real "fan on the field" moment. Kicked a hole in that badge-kissing insult to humanity.

i liked hunty but always thought he an good player in a poor side

(since proven wrong by his career at reading)

but he always seemed to me to have a short fuse (to go with his body)especially after we played blackpool away a few years ago

Evo was on loan at the 'pool from bradford and at the final whistle all the players were greeting him, chatting and shaking hands and hunty goes into one refuses to shake Evo's hand then calls him all the names under the sun and storms off .

I remember it at the time as just being a bit weird???
