I was at the O2 tonight.

Aspinall definitely had the biggest backing from the crowd and the atmosphere fell a little flat after he went out (though he gave it a bloody good go).

Glad Luke H won.

I was playing in an event last week and got chatting with a young lad who recently won his tour card at the start of the year. I asked him who he usually sits with at the Players Championship events and he said he the young players tend to stick together but very often Luke Humphries will go out of his way to come and join them for the day to make sure they’re OK and offer advice. He’s a good lad despite the Leeds connection.

Brilliant weekend for Aspinall.

The only one of the four PL finalists to get straight on the plane to play the Euro Tour in Leverkusen and he wins it.

Superb 7-6 win against Wessel Nijman in the SF and then beats Damon Heta 8-6 in the final.

For the benefit of @Banana’s diary, the Nordic World Series (essentially the Premier League on tour) will be on ITV this Thursday and Friday while the World Cup of Darts, which is always fun, will be on Sky for four days starting Thursday 12th June. Pairs all the way through, good luck to anyone trying to dethrone England whose team is made of the two Lukes.

Luke Littler and Luke Humphries will aim to lead Team England to World Cup of Darts glory at Frankfurt's Eissporthalle from June 12-15.

Reigning champions England are seeded as one of the top four nations and will enter at the second-round stage on Saturday along with Wales (Jonny Clayton and Gerwyn Price), Scotland (Gary Anderson and Peter Wright) and Northern Ireland (Josh Rock and Daryl Gurney).

Some typically bonkers stuff so far. Following in from this afternoon’s on stage rows (above) tonight we’ve had a Czech player celebrate so hard it looked like a tooth fell out and the Philippines just coming back from 3-0 down to knock out the fancied Belgians.

Here’s the first round lineup - very tricky start for Luke Humphries but a kind draw for Littler who hasn’t played a ranking match for three months.

Yep. Gives the PDC a huge headache as well because he’s a poster boy for the PL but they’ll struggle to justify his selection if he’s outside the top 16 so he’s going to need go very far in the remaining “majors” before the end of the year.
