It was the best night of the year to be fair.

A nine-darter, an incredible display from Humphries in the QF and the Asp properly digging in and winning.

Only negative for me was Dobey’s flat performance. I thought he was worthy of a place but he’s brought nothing to the PL this year and in hindsight that spot should’ve gone to Johnny Clayton.

In other darting news there are murmurs about the now expanded World Championships moving from Ally Pally to the Excel which would be a shame.

Not really. The Ally Pally is the most inaccessible venue in the entirity of London

It has a bit of history, character and places near enough by to have a drink before/after.

The Excel is completely charmless (and hardly that accessible itself).

In terms of accessibility, there’s 2 stations, a 3000 space car park, London City Airport and even a Cable Car if you fancy the scenic route. Not too shabby!

Superb weekend for Johnny Clayton, winning a Euro Tour in the Netherlands.

Watch out for losing finalist Nico Springer in the coming years, he’s going to do some serious damage.

Michael Smith’s hopes of making the Matchplay look pretty much over after a 6-0 loss to Luke Humphries (the only one of the four PL finalists to play) in the last 16 ?.

Dirk Van Duivenbode showed signs of getting back to his best. Four monster checkouts in his win over James Wade.
