Apologies.
That was Osborne, didint he miss the Aldershit match?

Leeds fan at work today said Bean was a dirty player and should have been sent off last night!
Also said it was worst game hes ever seen, not true! I could name a few that spring to mind that have been worse this year!
Thats rich coming from a dirty Leeds scum :D

He obviously didn't go to Reading v Leeds then.

rofl he actually did go to that match!

Hes all hyper about Arsenal in the cup, he shouldnt be getting excited, should be playing them twice a season anyways, but oh no there not a big club no more ;)

I think we managed a good hat-trick of yellows last night on the same opponent. Like the classic hat-trick of right foot, left foot and head, we got him with a high tackle, a tackle from behind and a late tackle

For what it's worth, for me Marcus has had a very inconsistent season so far, having had some cracking games and some real stinkers. When he's been good it's because he has pressed high up the pitch and not given the oppo a second to settle on the ball, the flip is that frequently he's sat far too deep and been yards off the pace and panicked when in possession resulting in woeful distribution.

I like him as he's 100% committed, never hides and he's now one of the vets in the side but if the other midfielders play to their potential he should really only be a squad player for me.

The Marcus Bean thread

I like his hair at the moment.

I really like Marcus, his work rate is outstanding. I didnt even think he was having a bad game last night when he got subbed off. He has had some good games this season, and is probably the most attacking midfielder we have (though cant shoot to save his life). Even though he makes mistakes the amount of effort he puts in makes up for it.

O'Connor called over to AS and told him Bean had a groin injury just before he went off, so I think that was the reason. I thought he played well last night.

The Marcus Bean thread

he didnt have a poor game but right wing doesnt work for me as he cant cross, hopefully spillane will start sat if sam is unfit

The Marcus Bean thread

this system has worked well with all Bean, Kevin and Dave im the same team.
We look better with Saunders than we did with Simpson last night.
Even when Weston is fit, for now my team would be Bean, Dave, Kevin, Saunders. Saunders has a weakness in the air and strengths in skill, passing and creativity we look very good recently as we have been using it well.

Yes. Apparently he's concussed. Expect him to be manager of SUFC this time next week

From what I saw he went OTT again for a tackle/foul their midfielder came in to probably exact some revenge and Bean injured.

Was very pleased he didnt come out second half as felt he was useless all game.

I will be so pleased the day Bean leaves this club and we get in a midfielder who actually achieves something with the ball.

Yeh I agree I like Marcus ,we are much better with him in the team.
Much better player than Dave

He isn't as good as Hunt, and we let him go to a Crawley side, which Bean would struggle to get into the team, he was kept on far too long against Exeter and did nothing but play backwards, not as good as AS thinks and he should be the 1 struggling for first team football not Hunt

all players go through a period of not playing well, Deano went 26 games without scoring. I remember the fans having a right go at him!! to say what your saying is unfair...

Couldn't agree more - absolutely fed up with Bean starting the game... He's brilliant for the last 10mins inserting a bit of energy in to a tired side, but he is completely and utterly useless with the ball at his feet... Toumani Diagouraga is a proper footballer and should be in the team, with Hunt biting at his ankles. Bring back Hunt, and get rid of Bean...

The Marcus Bean thread

Bean was absolutely dire last night (JPT) - AS should have had him off at half time
And to think he's on a two year contract - but then again most of them are - except Dave
who has been bench warming - he's on a three year contract.
AS you have a lot to answer for !

On a good day, Bean shows some good work in the tackling department; on a bad day...

... and Hunt is such a good midfielder that Crawley have him at right back!

The Marcus Bean thread

Never been (!) a fan but suggest that Hunt was any better is something I find odd. Neither are good enough. Our best midfielder by miles is Dave but he is too inconsistent. Someone said it on here this week though - I would build my midfield around Dave as the holding midfielder and have a proper box to box midfielder (not a willing runner like Bean) alongside. KOC would be his competition but it would be Dave's to lose.

The Marcus Bean thread

For all his faults, he ain't quite that bad!!!!!

I know - but on a bad day it's still pretty frustrating!

I agree entirely with your other post. Can't see it happening under AS unfortunately...

He's been superb recently :)

Because he's been pushed on more and any error on his part, or poor ball control, is now mopped up easily with dave behind him and the defence. He was too deep under AS and his game isn't suited to sitting deep.

That's about right, too much time and space sitting deep and he struggles, up and at 'em he's effective with the right player behind

That's how he played in our promotion season under AS.

He said in an interview after the Orient match that he has been allowed to push on now and he relishes it.

..........maybe needed the Beanieman in midfield yesterday to get onto the Exeter midfield, they had far too much space and time on the ball.........

The Marcus Bean thread

Definitely falling down the pecking order since the arrival of Uwe.

Can see Forrester getting the nod before Beany - just the way football works. Last year, he was selected automatically in a Scott side without performing to his usual standard. Now can't get a foot in, on the pitch or in the team!

In a weird way, Marcus needs a team mate's injury to get his season started!

If Uwe is serious about rotating the squad, there are teams that Bean could do well against with his work-rate and energy. Possibly not going to fit in with our passing game, but who knows if he has gotten better in that area or not?

To be fair to Marcus having watched the Hereford game on Bees Player,he did some a nice passing movements ( that's from the highlights of course ) so can't comment on the rest o the game as I wasn't there. Maybe some one who went can comment on that.

.............could be a case for playing the Beanieman in away games for a bit more midfield bite.......... But play a more attacking midfield for home games........

If Logan is out and Kev replaces him, Marcus might be on the bench Saturday

Would have worked a treat at Sheffield I reckon...

Bean is too good for a "benchwarming or even not in the squad at all" chappy! He should be driving a good League 2 midfield or helping a lower League One club do their thing. I hope that isn't disrespectful, he isn't the answer to a team questioning challenging at the top of this League but he has loads to offer someone.

There are another 4/5 others who are in the same catergory

.........today's type of away game is tailor made for the Beanieman............he hustled and bustled and knocked them out of their stride.......

I don't understand why he gets stick on here...a good player,a good pro who gives everthing when picked..after being unjustly droped for wembley ,didn't complain but still gave 100./. Is now one of the senior pros in the squad and should be respected

Would have been my man of the match if lee hadnt made that save in injury time :sorted:
