Thought he did very well yesterday. Bean at his best, he gets in very dangerous positions but he is the last person you want in these positions sadly.

Wasn't impressed and that glorious chance to win the game at 3-0 was not great.Saunders faded as well bit lightweight.we need an Alan Lee up front and a overweight blind ref to boot.

Probably true these days but I remember him putting a few similar chances away with confidence in L2.... Lincoln away was similar to yesterday's I think but with a bit more time to run through.

Yes it is important the beano stays at the club, the bees need players who are 100% commited too the bees ( unlike mr mcginn) however, footballing wise, the chap is pants, whenever someone closes him down he struggles, tries to find a pass, doesn't, and we lose the ball, and after saturday he can't finish eitheerr, but we must keep him as he's the only commited player at the club!

I think Uwe has really gotten the best out of Marcus Bean. Perhaps not the most technically gifted, but a 100%er and does all the battling in the right areas.

The penalty we got against Huddersfield is an example of the sort of honest player Bean is, he tried to stay on his feet and didn't appeal once.

Bean was cracking, energy levels really high on Sat – box to box- pass and move, his run got us the penner – yes he was unlucky with the one on one but next time he knows to put his laces through it. Least he got in that position. He faded a little 2nd half but was probably thinking of his chance. Some crunching tackles too.

Agreed. I'm sure there will be a few that say "if we want to move foward, we need to do better etc." but you know exactly what you're getting from him. Great honest pro and effective too.

Having seen the footage on BBC of that Bean miss I have to say it was a tougher chance than you lot are making it sound. He was off balance and very close to the keeper. Rhodes would probably have netted it but he's superhuman. And I'm not just saying all this because Bean is the new Pele :thetruth:

One today in the build up to the second (i think) goal and a great defence splitting pass against MK spring to mind. He also attacks the box well and has a few chances.

I still wonder how long he can sustain it but on current form I don't think you can drop him!

He's here and we can't get better in for now, but don't expect the see him anywhere near the match day squads next season. If we want to emulate the top 4 or 5 team froms this season, ask yourself would he get in their teams. The answer is no.

No need for me to do any research. I've watched Marcus home and away for 3 years and while I love his industry and attitude, he lacks skill, composure and consistency. I would agree with you that he sometimes wins the ball (I would also argue that he regularly gets robbed of the ball), but he rarely gives it to players who can do damage, or if he does it's 5 yards behind them or overhit. I'd glady swap those Huddersfield fans Oscar Gobern for Marcus Bean - I'm sure they'd soon be on the phone asking me for a refund.

As I say I've no problem with him being part of the here and now, we are limited in terms of budget and time in which to bring bodies in. But if BFC are serious about Championship football we need someone who has industry but is also a footballer.

His drive and energy have been significant in our last two performances and that was typified by his willingness to follow the shot in and keep the ball in play with the cross which set up Dave's goal.

He may not be one for the future but I appreciate a player who works hard, makes the most of his ability, has improved and plays every game like it's his last.

With Marcus you get exactly what it says on the tin, lots of industry, lots of tackling and a will to win. Would be the first to agree that I could not see him playing in a Championship team however at present he does a very necessary job for us and it would not surprise me to see him doing a similar job next season.

We all know his strengths and weaknesses as does he, however I do beleive that his passing and overall game is improving. He will never be a Beckenbaur but could be a Nobby Styles!! ( seem to recall he had a decent career!!!)

Beano is vital. You cant have a team of flying wingers, goal poachers or 6'6" defenders. You need players who will run all day, give 100% and battle. I'm a big Marcus Bean fan.

He scored a few goals and many said he was an attacking midfielder. However I don't think he has ever played an attacking midfield role for us it just became a bit of a myth thats were he played.

He scored 9 goals in our promotion season and got into the box quite frequently. ISTR that he would run to the near post for corners and got a few that way. Given that he was not a defensive midfielder, I think that qualified him as an attacking midfielder during that season.

So you can only be defensive or attacking? Hmm. Your point that he scored a few from corners would seem to contradict the point you make of him being an attacking midfielder. If Douglas scored 9 this season, would he become an attacking midfielder?

I'm not sure you can get too granular about midfielders! I'd say they are either: defensive / holding; attacking / forward, or; wide / wingers. I'm not sure there is a "hanging about in the middle" type. I can't see why his positioning at corners contradicts anything; if a CB come up for a corner, he's still a CB. Personally, I think Douglas is better forward than playing the holding role.

Yeah I know, I saw him do it. But he wasn't playing attacking midefield. He was just playing central midfield, very well. This crap that he played 'attacking midfield' that season is b***ocks. Zidane played as attacking midfielder. Beano is an all rounder and is likely to be seen in his own box as the oppositions.
