The New Manager Thread

Not Hessenthaler, please!
He's denying rumours that he has applied this time.
I'd be happy with one from Allen, Devonshire, Daish or Newell.

No way newell please!

The New Manager Thread

in the minority though, that's what you're missing wayfarer, whether you are right or wrong, you ARE in the minority

.............at this moment, with 51.32% of the vote, I'd say that that was a bloody good minority.............more than Tony Blair was used to getting, I believe, and certainly more than Gordon Brown would ever get........

The New Manager Thread

Eh? Hitler probably got a bigger percentage than that... doesn't mean he was a good choice...

The New Manager Thread

Forgetting Johnson who has absolutely no chance of coming here

Some of the others are around the 1% mark, but I'd consider

Cotterill
Daish
Allen
Cooper
Simpson
McFarland
Fairclough
Clough
Buckle
Newell

from the above

Ideally we want someone who doesn't suffer fools gladly without being a bully

Someone whose teams can play good football

Someone who is tactically aware

Someone who has an awareness of football at this level

But most importantly can stop us going down this year - No 1 priority

Frank Burrows ticks all those boxes
and is available

his name should be added

The New Manager Thread

There are other names that could certainly be added

Given our predicament straight away I would probably add

Hollins
Hessenthaler
Inglethorpe

for consideration

It might not be who we want, but who we can get

The New Manager Thread

Dailt star today reports Bees fans want Allen but the board prefer Keith Alexander!!!! Then again they also reported the other day that Scott Fitzgerald (jnr) was the new Millwall youth boss as apposed to Fitzgerald (senior) So i shouldnt lose to much sleep over it. lol

You can safely ignore the Daily Star.

John Hollins's managerial career

Team Games Won Lost Drawn
Stockport 7 2 3 2
Rochdale 27 10 7 10
Swansea 170 63 60 47
QPR 4 1 1 2
Chelsea 134 49 48 37

Avoid like the plague, yesterdays man with an average at best record.

The New Manager Thread

Keep Scott til he loses a game;)

I don't believe I am that fussy to be honest. I would love MA just to get some personality, charisma and press coverage back at the club.

Mike newell or another of the 5-6 other peoples mentioned above also would not disappoint me.

I would feel so deflated if scott got it, it would be like maclaren after sven, just the same old same old. We need a complete fresh start this time and I would steer clear of people like buckle, just too young and inexperienced, he may do a great job but I just can't take anymore 2 year 150k pay off gambles!

PS, very disappointing that the only time TB got us any coverage on sky was when he got sacked! He could have chucked in the odd mention during his 100 hours on radio 5 in the last 6 months or in his weekly column in the mirror.

And then its too late and the money has been spend/wasted, no we need a man who has managed at this level ASAP.
It is not the time for some one to do some yts

The New Manager Thread

If a new man comes in before Friday will AS have the best record as caretaker/manager since the war?

The New Manager Thread

:imwith:

whoever we get he has to be given a fair crack of the whip even by the MA cult followers.

IMHO
MA showed his limitations last time around but i do believe he has enough to get us promoted from this league. Best case scenario for MA returning would be getting us out of League 2 and then taking a job elsewhere and being replaced by someone with the tactical nous to get us out of League 1!

a feat he couldnt perform at MK Dons with a shed load of cash!

MK Dons seem to be a much stronger team this season, MA wasn't really liked there due to the type of footie he played.

The New Manager Thread

I'd quite like him to come back, though I don't think he will.

What I'm wondering though is if anyone else is getting bored stiff with the sub-Holloway 'bird' metaphors littering this thread?

To remain a bit sub-Holloway, MK Dons got a class bird who knows her stuff, knows what to do in the box and is tight at the back, Allen?...footballs Vicky Pollard...we all love to watch and to listen to her but you wouldnt would you!

The New Manager Thread

Managed in this decade, should be a factor to.
This would rule your mate Burrows out :sorted:

If he wins the next one, he should be given the keys to the Superstore

Let him run the superstore but please not the team, it isn't a time to gamble with a unproven manager.

The New Manager Thread

Well he now has a clear majority so

The New Manager Thread

still wouldnt rush to give scott the job after yesterday. that was a game we should have won regardless of whether TB or AS or another was in charge. IF scott gets a result of any sort against MK and Wycombe/Chester the board may take a serious look at him.
would still prefer to give the job to someone with more experience as a manager, but if it works out in the long run no-one will be complaining... just dont let him near that transfer kitty!!!

The New Manager Thread

Dave Bassett was availabe last year but the board chose leroy instead!

I can't vote for any of the options, but there are enough arrogant know-alls on here so why do we even need a list of contenders from outside the mighty, all knowledgeable GPG?:thetruth:

Like you

We should go for a player/manager option; we need the experience the playing option will give us for the rest of this season. Shame Holdsworth is past it on the playing side as I would have considered him an option. I'll throw 'sicknote' Darren Anderton into the hat (back to full training tomorrow).

To risky an option for me, but what about Jamie Redknapp? Imagine the loan signings we could get old his old chap?!

The New Manager Thread

How about Steve McClaren. He's not doing much at the moment.

The New Manager Thread

sum1 need to get brentford back on track and that person is ... Martin Allen !!!!

The New Manager Thread

Ma is many thing but uselesss l dont think so. I supect he has strong hopes of working at a higher level but just how many jobs are available at present.
We would but lucky to get him lbut we can live in hope.

The New Manager Thread

The only thing that is constant is the supporters. Managers, players, Chairmen and Directors come and go, nearly all supporters stay with it.
So being realistic is a super wealthy benefactor going to come out of the woodwork? No. So given that we need to manage the situation we're in. We must not get relegated because I think that will be that. So once again given that we appoint a manager who will achieve our league status. My personal view is that MA is the man and we should push hard to get him back. But who knows , I congratulate the players and management for yesterdays result but we still have a long season to go.

You can't fault his track record but personally I can't stand the over inflated ego of the man; look how he treated Hunty and Tabb at the club...remember the days at Brentford when the fans had their favourite players? :( I would only let MA back at the club if he invested in it.

ps, GPG-ers are not know-alls, we are know-somethings....:sorted:

Which manager makes the right call with every player though?

The New Manager Thread

How bizzare a suggestion would it be to wonder if the board might consider Darren Patterson again? The last couple of weeks he has slated both his Oxford team and also conference football, expressing his disappointment at the lack of quality.

With Mr Dickens now gone and 'new blood' in the boardroom, might they re-consider a previous candidate who obviously impressed?

I suppose more to the point, would Patterson forgive them for the shambles last time? Who knows - depends how anxious he is for a shot at football league management, I suppose.

I think I know what I'd say if I were him though...

rofl rofl

Are Brentford any better?

We blew it with Patterson twice, i doubt if he'd come back for a third shot at the post.

apathy is killing Brentford :banghead:
