May I just ask, when Dyke leaves, where does that 100k go?

Like all the others who have loaned money there is a repayment date although I'm sure he might extend it.

Cheers. :sorted:

It is a shame actually that the club couldn't set up a fund for a striker again after the pie monster aka Shipperly last season done little or nothing as it could have gone a long way in this league. Same thing with Chris Moore, I don't think many fans would be willing to part with their cash for a third time I am afraid. :(

PS I know the Chris Moore thing was via text. ;)

The Ryan Dickson thread

I heard and saw only good things about Ryan Dickson following his time at Torquay last year.

He'll fit into that left wing role VERY nicely! :)

Delighted with this signing...

:)

He's not a left back.. He's a left winger who can play there if needed ala Adrian Pettigrew playing in the centre of midfield. He's in the Steve Hunt/Ryan Giggs mould, He'll get the ball and run with it.

A suggestion about Dickson in April

Well done you :sorted:

The Ryan Dickson thread

I had a hairy ballbag at primary school and everyone took the piss, then they took the piss out of the only one who didn't have any at secondary school! You short&rses have got it made.;)

I know the feeling. I was bullied something rotten when I was a sperm in my Dad's ballbag.....but where are they now ? Well ? Well ?

The Ryan Dickson thread

We need a striker for **** sake !!! not another bloody defender , what awaste of club funds !! There are enough players who could fill that full back position at the club, and he wonders why we struggle to score more goals !

I really did not want to be the first one to say it and so be accused of being negative about a player before he has kicked a ball from us........ you are 100% correct I am afraid.

I have had my game called off tommorow and had this been a forward I would have bothered to have gone tommorow, I am going to spend the day with my kids instead!

Yeah right on Maidenhead! Dont forget to blow raspberries, stick your tongue out and go,nur, nur, nur.Shout and stamp your feet and shout " ITS MY BALL,IM GOING AND YOUR NOT PLAYING WITH IT !" At tea time refuse to eat those stupid vegetables, sit with your arms folded and put on a frowny face until your sent to your room

Hanyways,I heard that ,Kev Ive been chucked out of RB but the gaffer always finds me a place O'Connor, did ok at LB last Sat?Also our midfield of Poole,Moore and two others( memory of a whatsit called?) Weve stil got Moose to come back from injury so why sign a Ryan Giggsalikey?

BBC site says he a left winger.......I expect Butcher will play him at centre half.............he hasn't got a clue !

I agree pal..............

While I think it is likely he'll be the left back in place of Emanuel if he is a left winger with a good shot it could be we'll play the same way as against Luton but with this guy in for Shakes?

The Ryan Dickson thread

It is not uncommon for players to start on the wing as youth players then move to the defensive position as their skills become more developed. Didn't we have a player like that?

One could hypothesise that having two young full-backs that have played as wingers and like to get forward, with an experienced player playing in front of the defence that can fill-in while they attack, is a good team strategy. Of course, signing 5 strikers on loan is much better!

The Ryan Dickson thread

Anyway whatever position the fella plays in welcome to brentford mate.Enjoy your time here and who knows he may actually fit in nicely with the club and provide us with some much needed pace on the wing and assist the bees in getting as many points as possible in are continued fight to move up the league

Welcome Fella:sorted:

The Ryan Dickson thread

I think TB has seen what Emmanuel could provide for the team and has gone for the same. Don't have a problem with that. Lets face it Charles is not going to crack it at this level.

As for a striker I would rather persevere with what we have got than get in the type of no hoper and past it loanees that we had last season...it was like playing with 10 men every week...well technically with Ships it was 12 I suppose.

The Ryan Dickson thread

He looked really impressive when he came on today. Someone who'll actually run through players and looks to have a decent cross too. On that evidence he'll be wasted if we do drop him to full back. Hope he'll be as lively when/if he starts :)

The Ryan Dickson thread

He's not the position we need (striker, left back, pacy centre half) but he has the one quality we're missing. Pace and direct running. He seems to knock it forward and run after it as opposed to Shakes who keeps it close to his feet but can't utilise his pace with the ball that close to him

The Ryan Dickson thread

Looked Brilliant when he came on...

The Ryan Dickson thread

Overan it once or twice bit looked good, sort of Emmanual mark 2.

If he is consistent he could do well.

The Ryan Dickson thread

.......................well played fella....................

The Ryan Dickson thread

Bags of pace and one good cross. We gave him the ball too rarely though

Forever if it means not getting another Wiijnaard or Onion Bhaji. Montague and that other youth player would be better options if we need to wait longer. :sorted:

If only life was that simple Gee Bee!

Any player that we get is going to be a gamble - there will ALWAYS be a better option just round the corner - at some point TB will have to make a decision. Let's just hope that he doesnt leave making that decision too late and his only OPTION is to rely onr an untried 17 year old youth player that he didnt fancy as a genuine first team option a few weeks previously, or an over the hill CF looking for one last pay day before its back on the trowel!

He has "Montague and that other youth player" to pick from at the moment and believes he needs something better - its therefore up to him to go out and find it. If he cannot find anything better, fair enough, but lets not use fear of signing the next Wiijnaard or Onion Bhaji as an excuse for inaction.

Also, chucking our young inexperienced kids into a struggling team may not be the best option for them or us long term.

Played very well.

Like the look of him, lets see what his performance is like when/if he starts.

Keep it up :sorted:

A breathe of fresh air, the game was lost but at least he gave me some hope for the future.:sorted:

The Ryan Dickson thread

Promising (if brief) cameo playing advanced and wide left.

Fully expect our management team to play him as a defensive Right Back next time I see him.

The Ryan Dickson thread

In all honesty his first run was electric and resulted in a good ball into the box. Thereafter he thought he could do the same thing over and over and failed. I hope that it was over eagerness rather than lots of pace without any thought. :fishing:

that was the good thing though, although he failed on a couple of occasions, he kept going, running at the defenders, you speak to any defender and they will tell you time after time that they hate players running at them with pace, Dickson should have been fed the ball time after time on Saturday, although TB realised this, and brought him back to left back before we did a stupid thing like score.

I actually agree that it is warming to see someone running at defenders, however as my first comment alluded to. He did so without too much thought about where his final ball would go. It was head down eagerness imho and good on him. I just hope that he will at least occasionally look up in the future.

I don't care where his head is, I just want to see someone keep running like Forrest Gump. There's never anyone in the box anyway so no point looking.;)

His first run and cross should have been put away by Connell and then surely by Ide. He needs to keep his crosses low as Thorpe showed how deadly he nearly is from a lying down position.;)

So there obvioulsy was someone in the box for Connell & then Ide to miss sitters from the original cross. ;)
I just worry that before we have really seen him play, some think that he might be the next Messiah, rather than thinking he's a bloke who can't get in near the Plymouth side and needs a bit of polishing.

The Ryan Dickson thread

No he didn't.

there was certainly a stage where he went left back, and then the substitutions were made and god knows what positions people were playing in.

Nope. We went 3 at the back for the last 10 minutes with O'Connor, Mackie & Charles. With Ide, Thorpe and Connell in attack. Dickson playing wide left in a 3-4-3 final attacking push. FACT. ;)

That is probably the case but it did look like he'd dropped back a bit for the last few minutes. Perhaps he just thought he was meant to though

He was probably searching to get the ball, which after a couple of runs Darlington doubled up on him to stop his space, so he was having to drop deeper to get space. Good tactics by Darlington imho.

Hardly Einstein stuff by the Darlo management though? Can we have them though or can they learn our manager some tips?

He was still wide left, it was just that everyone else in red & white for forgot and didn't give him the ball.

That ironic cheer when they finally did.lol It shouldn't be a place of pissstake but that is what GP currently is.

The Ryan Dickson thread

Just wondering, are we extending his loan for a further month ? Guess with no manager at present it may be unlikely ? Personally I hope we do, he looks pretty good I think....

The Ryan Dickson thread

I think Sam Tillen may be back in with a shout !!!!

Dickson's not all that...we need a striker who can put the ball in the net...
