Can we just close this thread? Cant be the only one who hates seeing it pop up in January (yes I know I don’t have to read to, blah blah blah). Irritating even seeing it ?
You can put the thread on IgnoreCan we just close this thread? Cant be the only one who hates seeing it pop up in January (yes I know I don’t have to read to, blah blah blah). Irritating even seeing it ?
never had to use that option before Steve. Thanks for the heads up.You can put the thread on Ignore
Not in so many words, but I'm sure that's what he meant. Thomas would be a fool to have meant 'ever'. Raya's past mistakes are well documented, but they would become far more frequent in say, his nineties. You say he meant now - did he actually say that?
Is Strakoshka not the future no. 1? I always thought he came here on the understanding Raya would move on in a season or 2Schade feels like a good first step in this (hopefully). A Raya replacement will be a big second part of it...
No, we in our wisdom as fans with eyes have decided to write him off after a couple of cup games. Shame for the lad but that’s how it works. Is Strakoshka not the future no. 1? I always thought he came here on the understanding Raya would move on in a season or 2
I'd rather test a keeper when we know we are safe this season, rather than find out too late at the start of the next that we need a new one.Do you remember the last time we tested a keeper in this division, we lost about 5 games in a row. We will need to replace Raya one day, we may already have him here, but I would rather wait until the summer. I expect he will go and another "half known" keeper will arrive, a bit like Raya was when we bought him.
Looks like David will reveal some information in this upcoming interview.
Ellery Balcombe recalled from loan. Just saying like.
Already back out on loan to Bristol Rovers....
He’s also saved the 3rd most inside the penalty area so just seems like we’ve allowed a LOT of chances in total. Think that stems from early part of the season with 4-3-3/3-5-2 experiments. We’ve certainly closed that down a lot recentlyInteresting thing there is that more teams have tried from outside the box against us than any other. That must be due to the obstinacy of our low block and our ability to frustrate opponents. It’s a great stat
Er, we have signed a replacement already. If Raya was to be sold in the summer, I think we should target Caoimhin Kelleher. He's been so impressive every time he's played for Liverpool, and won't want to stick around playing second fiddle to Alisson forever. He's a great age, he's so calm under pressure and his feet might be better than Raya's...undoubtedly my number one choice.
Matthew Cox!Er, we have signed a replacement already.
I mentioned him earlier too, he'd certainly be someone I'd be happy with.If Raya was to be sold in the summer, I think we should target Caoimhin Kelleher. Of course the club know what his intentions are, They will have most ideas/actions put in place already, Even Ivan's situation would be planned for, No need for panic, It's the Brentford way. He's just advertising himself in Spain. I'm sure the Club know exactly what he's going to do and not do and will put in place the goalkeeping personnel before pre-season.
The press starting to catch on to what we’ve known for a while - agent on overdrive now it seems
A lot of the more analytically-inclined teams are also okay conceding/not blocking shots from distance since they are so rarely successful:Interesting thing there is that more teams have tried from outside the box against us than any other. definitely a positive view of the stat. Sometimes i think teams do like to take a lot of shots from outside of the box against us as they see it as a potential weakness. as brilliant a shot stopper as david is, hes not tall. Teams potentially see long shots as a good opportunitity to score, and i think our stats of conceding goals outside the box show thisInteresting thing there is that more teams have tried from outside the box against us than any other. Funny despite three clubs being interested, that it's seen as a possible "bargain". They wouldn't use that language if his contract was running out as a top side I'm sure...we aren't under a huge amount of pressure to sell for a special discount. We will want a fee of course but we usually get what we want.![]()
Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham in pursuit of David Raya
Chelsea, United and Spurs have all shown interest in the Brentford goalkeeper David Raya, who will enter the final year of his contract this summerwww.theguardian.com
I see what you're getting at, but there is ongoing speculation about his future being discussed in the media NOW.Ok - so both David Raya and Thomas Frank have confirmed he will be here for the rest of the season. Raya has all but said he will be off in the summer.
There'll be nothing happening this window, so this thread seems all rather pointless and premature.
It might help to be massochistic to discuss when he'll be going. Or therapeutic to think how many ££££s we might get.
And of course, that's fine for people to do on a forum, even thought it's all totally irrelevant right now. But it means we might as well copy and paste 99% of this thread when we get to the middle of May.
Every time I see the thread pop up, I think there is new news. There isn't. Yes, I know there is an 'ignore' function.

The January premium we'd add would be very high though. There are no plans for him to leave but if someone bid enough tomorrow he'd be gone.
If we were to finish top half I wouldn’t be surprised if all three were here for start of next season.Everyone is a feeder apart from Barcelona and Real Madrid! The people who run the club have done more than enough to earn trust that a suitable replacement will be ready for the start of next season (perhaps Strakosha, needs some gametime though as west ham showed). No need to panic. Will certainly be a different looking team next season I suspect. Can't imagine Ivan will be sticking around, ban or not. Any club with sense would also sign Rico and Norgaard!
Just a lot more casual fans and kids on twitter for the big clubsI see social media is full of the usual “big club” fans dismissing Raya for being short and/or not high profile enough. Since we joined the Prem I’ve been struck by how lacking in knowledge the average Premier league club fan is in comparison to championship or league 1 fans.
A lot of the Championship fans were thick as too. Forest fans spring to mind in particular.I see social media is full of the usual “big club” fans dismissing Raya for being short and/or not high profile enough. Maybe not a bargain for the transfer fee, but the wages could be a lot less than they are used to paying and a lot more than Raya is getting from us.Funny despite three clubs being interested, that it's seen as a possible "bargain".
