Ignoring our prejudice, he's exactly what we are currently missing, an energetic box to box player with a lot of skill and a massive goalscoring threat. I would take him in an instant if he was out of contract.

I take your point but compared to the likes of Cucurella, Maddison, Romero, the entire Newcastle midfield? Piss boilers, every single one.
There are, sadly, a lot of them around (the whole Newcastle team, the whole Chelsea team, the whole villa team :))

But he's a whiny snidy little bitch too

Looks like we’ve missed the boat on Barry Bannan.
He’s playing his final game for Sheffield Wednesday today.
How did we manage without him?
Taking this ridiculous idea seriously, the fact that with him they are 36 points from safety in the Championship and withut him we're in the top half of the Prem might provide a bit of a clue.
Now can we plese stop all this nonsense about him coming anywhere near our team?

It's not entirely serious Larry......

He's been a top player Larry. One that got away? Who knows? 😂😂

Same. Although when they’re back, both Fabio and Milambo will make claims for that position, stat wise Wilson is in his prime.

Plus if a player fits, fan prejudice can go to hell quite frankly. We’ve had our own players do way worse things under contract

It is a joke, and anyway you could hardly blame him for points deduction because of bad owners, back in the day at his prime he would have been a reasonable signing, can't believe you took that post seriously, next thing you will be getting upset about Shipperley posts.

It is understood a number of top-flight clubs have expressed an interest in signing Wilson during the window, with Aston Villa, Brentford, Everton and Crystal Palace among those monitoring his situation before the 2 February deadline.

Several English and European sides are expected to join the race in the summer if he leaves on a free transfer.

Never let the dream die….. I was still hoping I might get a date with Bridget Bardot until a couple of weeks ago!

Can’t wait.

Suspect Jensen or Damsgaard will make way for him.
Here’s hoping 🤞

According to team mate Darren Fletcher :
Bannan "is in the mould of the best midfielders in the world", and said "I'm talking about Xavi, Iniesta and Paul Scholes".

shows that we perhaps need a midfielder than can create a chance out of nothing.
he got injured, having one in the club doesn’t help… probably a bit reactionary as so soon after the game… but christ we struggle against low block side
We could really use another midfielder.
Damsgaard, Jensen, Carvalho, Milambo, Da Silva, Maghoma Trevitt and Krauhaus are all under contract. That's an almost continuous spectrum of quality in attacking midfielders from arguably our best player all the way down to b team. Or are we running to the market every time a player gets injured?

May I ask what part of me saying it’s unfortunate that two of the names you’ve listed are injured equates to me demanding we go back to the market?

It's an interesting take for sure 👍

Let's say a couple more get injured given that they will have to play almost every minute of every game do we not sign anybody else?

We had 4 wingers on the bench for 2 positions although I accept that KLP can play elsewhere.

We have 2 CB's for 2 CB's on the bench too.

While I accept we have options do you not think it's unbalanced?

In theory, we had no out and out forward on the bench.
Yes we know Schade, Dango, and even KLP could play there but we also know its not their best position.

I'd agree with that too 👍

Kev & Dango would be plan b.

I feel we have enough forward players to manage that though.

Midfield we have less options imo

I think your argument ought to have been solid enough without mentioning the last three names who are extremely unlikely to get minutes for the bees in the premier league.

Clearly anyone with a heart and a brain wants Da Silva to come back firing, but that is going to take time and patience. You are then left with the first four and two are out with long term injuries and we don’t yet know if Dams will also be out a while.

Based on that I’d have no issue with us bringing forward a long term target into this window, if it could be achieved without breaking the bank. But a panic buy just to fill a short term decision? No thanks, it’s not the Brentford way.

My point with the long list of names is that we already have a lot of attacking midfielders at the club at various levels of readiness and experience, which makes both making more long term signings AND getting someone in for injury cover redundant. If we're turning to the market for 1 injury to attacking mid then we might as well for any injury

But it’s not just one injury, it’s three out of the realistic starting four for that specific role.
