General BFC Transfer Thread

We must be looking for the successor to Norgaard/Henderson, I think that’s where the next big money incoming will be. Think the candidate needs to be PL ready, please don’t ask me for a name, I don’t play FPL or any of the FM games 😀😀

Especially with dominant CBs who defend a lead rather than drift upfield chasing a game.

Dyche is a master at that

I doubt we will make a dash to the transfer market: we have 33 points!

If we are looking for a replacement for Henderson, we have 1.5 years and to do so and have just signed Vitaly up for another 4 who is going to make that spot his.

We don't need a premier league ready player in that area and certainly don't need to make it our next big money spend, it is probably the least required position.

I have a suspicion, based on nothing whatsoever, that Henderson won't be here next year.

I don't think he is going to retire yet. If he is starting games he should be. Even so we don't need to splash big money on a PL ready alternative.

I’d like to politely agree to disagree. Without doing him down we need to be looking for better than Vitaly, Another vote for not sure Henderson will be here after the World Cup irrespective of contract length. Yesterday’s tactics were for him to drop deep left and try to supply the left attack, KS/RH/ etc.

What would Thomas have done at 2-0 down. Probably withdrawn Vitaly, played Jensen as a quarter back and maybe gone with a front 2 and two widemen.

A few players go on strongly after their mid thirties but most don't. I'm expecting him to be a bit part player next year if indeed he is still here. A useful squad player whose experience will help young players but no longer able to start regularly.

I hope I'm wrong of course but we have to be realistic. His presence atm buys us time to find a good long term Norgaard replacement. I don't think that's Janelt who is better in a slightly more advanced role or Yarmoluik. And Konak seems way off.

It's not absolutely urgent yet but we do need to be thinking about it. And I'm sure we are!

I agree with you in principle. But in reality, it's not 1 injury, it's 3, and with Dams maybe 4. 4 injuries to attacking midfield would be cause to look to the market for a temporary solution, like we did with Sergio or Neal.

And with FTT likely to leave, we'd be extremely short in the middle of the park if Dams is out for more than a week or two.

As it is, the coaching team see JDS every day, who knows where he is in recovery, and while we can't have expectations of him...he could well come back into the picture. And would we need cover if that is the case? Janelt, Yarmo, and Henderson to hold the fort, Jensen, Dams, and JDS to provide go forward. That's not bad at all, really, though I'd still be worried about an injury to Janelt or Yarmo.

I guess the way I see it is attacking midfield we've got dams who's thought to have a minor injury, then Jensen, who has a strong case to start anyway, then JDS, who will need his minutes managed but looks like he'll be back soon. According to FC26 romelle can play there as well? Presumably for the B team I wouldn't know don't watch enough b team matches.

Then defensive midfield is only Yarmo Janelt and Hendo if Onyeka goes, which is 3 players for 2 places in a double pivot. So to me defensive midfield is a bigger priority both short and long term, don't see the sense in buying an AM when we've got 3 for 1 position right now and 2 more coming back from injury next season

There’s clearly a potential vacancy for a ‘proper’ №6, defensive midfielder in the grand scheme of things but… we know they’re very, very difficult to find. We never had one before Nørgaard and, at present without Onyeka, we have Janelt (not bad), with Yarmolyuk and Henderson, neither are ‘true’ 6’s.

I very much doubt we’ll sign one this window but I’d be quite certain there’s a list and July may see a recruit.

We have Milambo , who I guess was brought in as a ball carrying midfielder .We only saw glimpses of what he could do and looked a bit lost at times .He'll need time to bed in once fit , when ever that maybe

Well, Keith's got his lean squad. With Paris gone everyone who remains is either an under 21 or has at some point been a premier league starter on merit. And the u21s who remain (Arthur Milambo Donovan and Furo) all look like serious prospects. First time since we've been promoted that I feel there's been absolutely no dead wood in the squad.

If you said in 22/23 that we'd have a squad good enough that the most fringe senior players would be Onyeka Pinnock and JDS, well I probably would have believed you cos its a plausible continuation of our constant upward trajectory. But I'd still have been pleased!

Would really like to know the structure of the deals for both Crama and Maghoma as they are the 2 former B team alumni with a substantial career upside possibility.

Based on that I’d have no issue with us bringing forward a long term target into this window, if it could be achieved without breaking the bank. But a panic buy just to fill a short term decision? No thanks, it’s not the Brentford way.

It shouldn't be a panic buy, we were crying out for one in the last window let alone this window. Hopefully with 2 or 3 going this window we have something in the pipeline.

Low fee initially, high sell on, higher sell on if sold to a prem club, high bonus if they get promoted within 3 years, bonus on 50/100 apps for the club...

dont think so... JDS back soon from injury, same with damsgaard- milambo and carvalho will be up next season.... maybe we bolster in the summer but unless a deal is available, not janurary.

It’s very odd! It’s as if the categorisation “midfielder” consists of entirely similar players!

I doubt we will regret not signing a midfielder this window, but it would of been my only signing of this window, but to be fair it would have been one of the first last Summer. I certainly dont want anymore wide players.

Business is slow in general so presumably the summer's gonna be a bit wild! I said before, "standing still" is what's got West Ham and Wolves in trouble - we're a couple of windows away from any of that here, but still... let's not. And I'm sure Phil is very aware of that. But no use signing someone for the sake of it.

The missing piece of the jigsaw hasn’t changed since Eriksen’s brief cameo: an attacking midfielder who can run at players and chip in with regular goals. In short, an Italia 90 Gazza (without the baggage). Should be easy for a Geordie like Phil…
