Newcastle for a start. They’ve failed with a £30m bid for an untried kid in Ekitike and desperately need a CF. Luckily, Phil will tell them it’s £70m ?
It’s £50m for 17 Premier League clubs and:

£75m for Newcastle - Saudi Arabia funding premium

£150m for Leeds. The ***** can **** off.

Ivan Toney

There is no way he’s going

Ivan Toney

A bit surprised to see some prepared to sell. Yes, an injection of 50 plus would be welcomed to bolster our depth. But whilst we’ve been a model club in selling on and replacing with better, this is different. Proven Goal scorers at this level are rare and cost tons. Double figures last season, that’s not to be overlooked. Wouldn’t sell him at any price, the jeopardy is just too great right now

We want £40 mil no offers yet
Nathan Ake, a very ordinary cover centre back cost £41M, we can expect to ask for more for a proven goal scorer.
Let’s start an auction if Man U, Leeds, West Ham and Newcastle are all interested. I reckon we could get between £50- 60M if we decide to sell, personally I wouldn’t sell now

Ivan Toney

I'd probably accept 50 million tbh, he's been very good for us but truth be told, I'm not sure he's as good, as say Raya, Norgaard and Henry...

Take 50, give PG 30 and I have faith we'd get a replacement.
Can you see us spending 30 million on one player. Who do you suggest.

It's just the Brentford way. Not sure how much more development there is in him and he's at his most valuable at the moment. Sell at peak value if we can, that's the mantra. There's plenty of goals in the squad if we can get the creative side working like we did with CE in the side. I don't think we'd replace like for like, I think we'd tweak the way we play and that may well work out to be a positive.. Having said all that, I don't think anyone will pay what we want which is likely to be v high...

But to the best of anyone's knowledge (on here at least) none of them ARE interested.

Ivan Toney

What’s the point of this thread. Brentford won’t accept £30m and no club is paying £40m+.
As has already been pointed out, in recent years teams have paid 50m a piece for WanBissaka and Ben White, 75m+ for Lukaku (twice!), Pepe 70m and 80m for that donkey Maguire.
Forget what you, or anyone else think he's worth; we'd be mental to let him go for any less than 50m.

Ivan Toney

I dont think you can underestimate the effect he has on the team just by being an outball. Plus of course his decisive work. He also seems someone the players look up to, he has that swag that builds confidence.

I don't think we should sell him just before the season starts, it feels like we would need to change our style of playing.

The Independent stating that Brentford want £40m for Toney. Not sure where they got that from but it seems £10m shy of his market value to.me.

No. For that bunch no less than 1 billion.

Totally disagree. Peak value will be when he scores 20 next season, or is well on the way to doing so in January. 5 goals from open play? Definitely room for development. And the mantra is have the replacement lined up. Pretty sure we don't.

It doesn't say that.

Journo reckons that a bid would need to be around £40m for us to consider any bid. He's not basing that on an in-depth chat with PG so it's just a guess.

Ivan Toney

Taking the money is the easy bit, but as each day goes by it will prove harder to bring in any type of replacement who would need to fit in immediately, and hit the ground running. Why would the Dofs put all the hard work they have put into this window at risk by selling IT, and significantly increasing the odds of getting relegated and everything that goes with that. Suggest we close this thread unless something concrete happens. IMO would be suicide to even think about selling Toney at this stage, but what do I know.

Ivan Toney

Another point to consider is that if IT was sold for north of £40 selling clubs will increase the money will be asking for players we are interested in

Ivan Toney

Like many others, surely it was always our intention to bring him in, trade him up and sell at a big profit. I think he is very very good, but as an asset, no better than many of the others we have sold on Benrahma Watkins etc etc.

like CE, if he goes we shoul wish him well and hope when he comes back to play against us we don’t concede a penalty.

we have more than enough good cover. Trust in the system and let them go when we are ready.

Like who? ?
You list the clubs who would not offer 50m and I will return to you a list of clubs we won’t be talking to.

IT was a proven lg 1 scorer before we bought him, plenty more pebbles on the beach,

Again, all the reasons bigger clubs are I interested

A problem we have dealt with for over a decade. It wont stop the world turning though,

Ivan Toney

I can’t think of a single EFL player who could potentially replace him. Hopefully we have a decent list of foreign strikers who are gettable and could do the job if need be.

Ivan Toney

Meh. I like Toney. He got us up. But I felt worse when Said, Watkins and Maupay left. (If he does)

Make no mistake we can improve. But then again, we can do worse. But I trust the DoFs to spend the money wisely.

You do realise that it's very unlikely that Ivan is leaving in this window?

I agree. Tell me we are losing Norgaard or Raya or Pinnock and I will become very sad. Toney we would miss for a short while, but the time would be right to kick on and find someone with the prospect of developing beyond Ivan's ceiling. Or adapt existing players, much like we did with Ollie.

Ivan Toney

Hope you’ve got factor 80 on if you’ve fallen asleep in the sun.
What an un-British suggestion! We just keep a stiff (perspiration soaked) upper lip.
Remember we survived the Blitz, Battle of Britain, Dunkirk, etc etc etc......plus Tony Blair and Boris. A little bit of weather is just a normal talking point -no more.
:D

And Ron Noades

If the fee is right, show him the money and he'll be off like a rocket!
Pro footballers are a commodity to trade. That's just how it is.

No different to when we sold Hogan, Grey, Maupay, Watkins, Benrahma, We have to survive By Selling/Buying, That is our great strength, Much to the annoyance of most other clubs, It also got us to where we are to day, I fully trust how our club works and long may it continue. ? ?

Thing is, peak value doesnt matter to those with bottomless pockets, they will happily buy a 33, 34 year old for 50 million as long as they are doing the business, if he scores 15 this season, somebody will pay 50 million next off season

far better to buy before we sell.

Ivan Toney

if the club accepts an offer and he goes Phil G will have an upgrade lined up for sure.......happy daze !

Ivan Toney

This. We can’t go looking for a replacement now, as other clubs would smell the desperation a mile off.

Until his replacement is already here we simply cannot sell.
